Hmmm, did they ever actually use those depth charge nets? I can't remember...

They were in the first episode. Then they disappeared until the end of the series.

Maybe the production crew felt it was too much effort to animate them in the middle stretch of the series?

Complete!

Mechanic: TF SMS 05A: Quadoran Rhea / VB-6 Koning Monster: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#TMF

- now with all the info that should've been on the MF Rhea and VB-6 sheets! One of the highlights is the mention of the fate of the VB-7. Another is the wide-area fire-fighting shells (I wonder what those are, as wide-area weapons are generally used to describe nukes, reaction weapons and Dimension Eaters...).

Why is the movie Quarter filed under civilian instead of SMS? Is it because of the existence of other Quarter classes in the movie?

on Deagostini site they ask forgiveness for the mistake, it should have an SMS logo.

Episode sheets! http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php

Episode: 7 15A: Macross 7 Eps. 15 "A Young Lady's Jealousy"

- another excellent commentary on the episode. As always, the topics leave one wanting more.

Episode: F07A: Macross F Eps. 7 "First Attack"

- doesn't the commentary on the MF episodes seem less energetic than the ones for the M7 ones? The topics this time are quite satisfying, rounding out the Galaxy Fleet and the M1/4's transformation that much more.

Disappointing that no mention was made of the alternate arm weapon variations.

Timeline 19A: The Conclusion Of The First Interstellar War: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtimeline/MCRtimeline.php

- slightly revised and slapped up into PHP. No major changes between the two versions (though, the revised version has a tendency to remove する in some of the point form entries...)

Mechanic: F NUNS 06A: Macross Frontier War Fleet: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#MF

- also slightly revised and slapped into PHP. No changes between the versions, but the translation has been tweaked (ie: the wordy ships-of-the-same-type changed to isomorph ships).

You'd think... but they put the broadcast version of the episode (as an extra) on the 2007 DVD and the recent Blu-Ray... they can't be trying to hide it THAT hard.

- most interesting is the relationship chart.

History: F 03A: Ranka Lee Live: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#MF

- I liked the brief summary of Ranka's rise to success. Sure, it's fiction, but it's a good reminder how much entertainment success is down to luck.

Character: M Zentraadi 01A Buritai Kuridaniku: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#SDFM

- now with all there is to know about the eye. The highlight of the sheet is his and a VF-1 Battroid's stature down to the centimetre!

Awesome!

So, it looks like Britai's headplate was just an eyepatch after all, rather than any kind of cybernetic replacement. You would wonder how a Zentradi can be effective without depth perception, but he's so badass that it wouldn't matter.

Also, I doubt having any Britai expies with headplates suggests that all male Zentradi commanders are given them and so Britai's is not the result of an injury. More likely the animators are just copying the Britai design and it doesn't mean much.

I think Ebata Risa simply emulated Buritai's design with Ogotai. However, due to the allusion that Ogotai is a clone of Buritai in the character sheet, the bad eye may be congenital.

Alas, as with most things written about in-series Macross details, the Japanese isn't very precise or definite.

I doubt Ebata had anything to do with Ogotai, it was probably more the work of Yuichi Takahashi.

RM/ER++ Project - Episodes: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php

Episode: M11A: Super Dimensional Fortress Macross Eps. 11 "First Contact"

- quite surprised at the amount of pen-name action going on. Nevertheless, we get the origins of the term "Protoculture".

Episode: D702A: Macross Dynamite 7 Volume. 2 "Graveyard -cemetery-"

- the commentary is a little bit on the meh side. It touches on some of the more "audacious" scenes of the episode, and doesn't do anything with it. Surprisingly, the most interesting part, IMHO, is the song list and its notes.

Got my first 10 issues of the DeAgostini Macross Chronicle after a VERY lengthy wait for backorders to be filled. As I suspected, the series is a real mixed bag and sadly not a lot of new stuff so far, though the material covered for the Macross Frontier movies is rather cool. I do like how they are summarizing the timeline/episode guides into sections with all the characters and mecha shown in thumbnail portraits on a single cover sheet. And naturally, the new Tenjin Hidetaka marquee paintings are very nice.

One big disappointment is the reproduction of errors from the first Chronicle series. So far I've notice two repeated coloring errors, the most notable being the repeat of the fill error on the YF-21 Battroid. Macross Chronicle #8 from the new DeAgostini version has the same error. Guess no one is bothering to run the original Chronicle material through a second pass of editing :(

Mechanic: Zero UN 06A ADR-03-MkIII Cheyenne: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRmechanic/MCRmechanic.php#M0

- satisfyingly expanded in the revised edition. The new stuff certainly rounds out the sheet, and fills in some of the gaps left in the original.

Character: M UN 09A People Of The Earth Unified Forces: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#SDFM

- gotta love that Grand Cannon. Odd that they tuck it in as a Related Matter on a character sheet... would've preferred something on what happened to Riber.

- I was all excited that we would find out what happened to the trio after the series... and the sheet only really recycles what happened at the end of the series when they separated. Bummer.

Worldguide 09A: Macross City: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRworldguide/MCRworldguide.php

- The related matter section was a bit of a no-brainer. However, some of the descriptions of the city on the reverse more than made up for it.

- was only planning to do the ER/RM, but ended up doing most of the front - and I'm glad I did. Lots of goodies on the 2 year "fast forward" in the series. A highlight is the revelation that the surviving allied Zentraadi outnumber the surviving Earthlings! (Alas, they don't give a specific number of survivors once more.)

TF01C & D: Macross F Theatrical Edition ~The False Diva~: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#TMF

- this sheet was a bit nostalgic. In the sense of "this brings back memories of Tochiro's Pacifico report" and "remember when the YF-25 kit was released".

COMPLETE:

Episode: 7 00A: Macross 7 Opening/Ending: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRepisode/MCRepisode.php#M7

- Hmmm... did anyone else get that from the opening clip (that it traces the story of the series)?

Technology 13A: Dimension Weapons: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRtechnology/MCRtechnology.php

- I honestly wasn't planning to do the full sheet. But when the title "What Is Heavy Quantum?" came up, I just new this sheet would be pwned. The pseudo-science explanation also makes sense, in the Star Trek kind of way (you know, like how they have the Heisenberg compensator, but not how they actually compensate for the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle).

Hmmm.... wonder how people find out the new Chronicles so easily- HLJ still on 26 the last I saw...

They're checking the publisher's site, the Macross 30 site, etc..

A more thought provoking question for me is: why are they releasing information on the titles so far in advance? Is it to drum up sales (as the magazine has all but disappeared from bookstores - due to lack of sales)?
