sketchley Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Obviously one questions the necessity of having a stealth starship attacched to a monstruosely huge non-stealth cityscape, but whatever...I think those are buzzwords that have been hanging around since M7 - when adding stealth to something automatically made it cool. Stealth Valkyrie, stealth frigate, stealth cruiser, stealth carrier, stealth brick... Nevertheless, I think it's one of those ideas (like the 6 ships in one thing) that came up during the brainstorming for the series, but never actually appears in the series (ship off on its own). Personally, I would've liked to have seen the asteroid crusher as initially envisioned... Quote

As for the asteroid cracker, could it be the thing Mikimoto showed in MThe First (the destroids on the asteroid etc...)? Yeah, it's one of a couple of ideas that didn't make it into the show that Mikimoto revived for Macross the First. The initial idea was that the Macross would fire its anchor at asteroids, "cracking" them open, and hurtling the debris at attacking Zentradi. Eventually, this was replaced by the Daedalus Attack. History M 04A: The Zentraadi Invasion: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRhistory/MCRhistory.php#SDFM - the sheet should settle any remaining doubt on the fate of the fold drive (that's annihilation in the physics sense.) More importantly, the revised edition cleans up another one of the creator's of Macross's strange acronyms (see ASS-1, et al.); admittedly it was the original writers of the MC who made the goof... Wish there were more hours in the day... Character: M 00A "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" Character Interrelation Chart/Triangle Timeline: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRcharacter/MCRcharacter.php#SDFM - the name of Hikaru and Misa's first born daughter. On top of that, the head-hurting aspect of Macross rears its ugly head again: did Minmei get on the Megaroad 01 or not? Another sheet in the MC clearly states that pretty much the majority of the crew of the SDF-1 were cloned to restore the Earth - and its extremely likely that ALL of the Megaroad-1 were crewed by clones of Hikaru, Misa and Minmei, to name but a few. So, were the trio that got on the Megaroad-01 mere copies, or were they the originals themselves? (Given Kawamori-san's thoughts on the matter, they are most likely the originals - either way, Minmei was both departing on the Megaroad-01 and remaining on the Earth, watching the Megaroad-01 depart. Head hurt yet?) And how does that cloning work exactly? It may have been an in-universe "dramatization", but implications are that it is damn quick. Instead of the My-clone device only shrinking or enlarging a Zentraadi, you feed it the genetic information, and it just produces a fully grown body - at the rate of what? 1 per hour? What about consciousness? As the same devices have the ability to transfer ones mind from one clone to another, shouldn't it be possible to store a copy in memory? A copy that can be imprinted on all clones of a given template - which is exactly what the other article in MC is implying when it comes to the clones of the crew of the Macross. (Which begs the question: is the consciousness in the discarded body truly moved? Or is it like "6th Day", and you aren't really transferred, only copied, and you die when your original body is disposed of?) Anyhow, I'm sure there are limitations placed on the My-clone system to prevent abuses (such as making mass copies of an individual Zentraadi who is being macronized), but I'm sure there would be some who work around it. Thus, the only problem for them would be feeding, clothing, sheltering and providing their quick-grown army with weapons. But then, why haven't we seen such an abuse in Macross? Or is it like the transporter in Star Trek, where the device is used for its story telling/production convenience, and its implications are not truly explored in-series.) Nevertheless, which Minmei is Burira searching for? The original (which may be in another galaxy), or any of her numerous clones? Quote
Bub Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Just a quick question: I read earlier the we need extra binders. I got 1 that came with the 1st issue and I got another 2 extra binders. Total of 3 binders, are these enough for all 80 issues? How many binders do we really need? Thanks! Quote

Gubaba Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 So Hikaru and Misa's daughter's name is definitely Mirai? Not Miku? I've never seen it as anything other than Miku. Quote
Renato Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 It's written with the same kanji as the word for "future" (未来), but instead of the standard "Mirai" reading, her name is read "Miku". Irregular, and sometimes original, readings occur a lot with Japanese names. I have seen Hikaru's name (一条 輝) once written as "Teru Ichijo" in some official English thing, like a pencil board or something, which is not wrong in terms of it being a possible reading of the Kanji but it's definitely incorrect in terms of what his actual name is. Another good example I remember well is in Tokyo Movie Shinsha's catalogue for overseas licensees of their anime productions, where Orguss's main character, Kei Katsuragi (桂木 桂) is called "Katsura Katsuragi", because if you notice, he has the same kanji in both his family name and given name; it just doesn't mean that they are pronounced the same.
