nexxstrait Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Gallery M: Minmei by Mikimoto Haruhiko http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRgallery/Mminmei.php Did it 'cuz I was curious and it not only looked, but was easy. Anyhow, what's notable is the change from the first edition: the original was a foldout page with the two images on this page on the reverse. Does this mean that the Revised Ed. is opting to save the foldout pages for additional Mechanic Pages, like this week's YF-19 B sheet and next week's VF-19Kai B sheet? Just to clear things up: this issue new YF19 battroid painting has the old edition YF19 B sheet on the reverse, right? Quote
sketchley Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Just to clear things up: this issue new YF19 battroid painting has the old edition YF19 B sheet on the reverse, right? Correct. The old B sheet's front is now reverse left, and the old reverse is the new's reverse right. There's an additional set of stats on the front, but the data is identical to that in the set of stats on the front of the old A sheet. Quote

Otherwise, same old, same old. Alas, they didn't correct the F-14A+'s "AIN-54"... Quote
Bub Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 What's the ISBN number of this first issue from DeAgostini? I'll try to subscribe this through a bookstore I frequent. Due to language barrier with the bookstore owner, letting him know the ISBN number may prove very helpful. Thanks! Quote
hulagu Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 New to this Chronicle collecting thing, just checking some details. The free binder only comes with the 1st issue, yes? For every tenth issue, we will need to provide our own binder or purchase 7 additional Macross binders to hold the lot? Did they ever release other designs for the binders the last run? Quote

Hebime Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Did anybody else subscribe to this?I just realized that the series is weekly this time, and I haven't received issues 2 yet.I guess that their shipping policy (free over 1000 yen) might indicate that I will be getting the issues 2 at a time, but was wondering if anybody has confirmation of this. I read through all the mails I got from them and didn't see any indication. Quote

Some interesting anecdotal stuff there. I swear I could hear Basara's voice as I did the preview of the next episode... Quote " the VF-11 was planned to become the protagonist's fighter craft. However, the idea was washed away because of the reason that it would be difficult for the VF-11's transformation mechanism to be turned into a toy. The design for the YF-19, the protagonist's craft in "Macross Plus", was appropriated and the VF-19 was created." Sure, and we all know the 19 was sooooo easy to reproduce in toy form that we finally saw a decent one in 2011. And it still leaves something to be desired (fat anime magic legs, I'm looking at you). These tidbits are comedy gold. Thanks for translating. Quote
Tochiro Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Did anybody else subscribe to this? I just realized that the series is weekly this time, and I haven't received issues 2 yet. I guess that their shipping policy (free over 1000 yen) might indicate that I will be getting the issues 2 at a time, but was wondering if anybody has confirmation of this. I read through all the mails I got from them and didn't see any indication. Well, there were 2 weeks between issues 1 and 2 which only came out late last week. Mine hasnt arrived either yet but I'm not overly worried. Late delivery more than compensates for not having to go to a bookshop to find the one issue that hasnt been leafed through imo. Quote
sketchley Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 I just realized that the series is weekly this time, and I haven't received issues 2 yet. Did you indicate from which issue you want to start receiving it? I haven't looked at the HP order form, but the postcard sized one in the back of #2 has a place to fill that in. I guess that their shipping policy (free over 1000 yen) might indicate that I will be getting the issues 2 at a time, but was wondering if anybody has confirmation of this. There's no indication that the shipping charge applies to individual issues (I've only seen it in the fine print for the binders). The explanation is easy: mailing fees are covered by not having to pay the other middle men used when you buy from a store. Quote

Hebime Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah, I told them to start with issue one, which I got day of or day after it hit newstands. If you haven't gotten yours yet Tochiro, then I'm not worried either. I agree that its totally worth it. In the back half of the first run, I had trouble even finding shops that carried it. Quote

Most especially the relationship of Sara and Shin after the end of Macross Zero! Quote
sketchley Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I was only planning to do the extra reports on the following 2, but one thing led to another, and I've gone and translated such things as the descriptive title, personal data, character interrelation chart and character header episodes. The main thing is that the two sheets are essentially unchanged from the previous edition. Gubaba Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I gotta admit that, 3 issues in, I'm not sure this is worth double-dipping. I mean, *I* don't mind, because (again) my first edition is packed away in my Mom's attic back in California, but it seems like most of the substantive stuff (so far) is reprinted from the first version. That said, I'm really enjoying the "Episode Sheets," and it'll be nice to get pages relating to the Macross F movies. Quote
sketchley Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I gotta admit that, 3 issues in, I'm not sure this is worth double-dipping. Seconded. Sure, the new painting of the VF-19 Kai and the smattering of colourized images that replace B&W ones are nice, but... ... 2 pages per episode?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I was under the impression that only the 1st episode would be getting that deluxe treatment. It's also worrisome, as it means that the lion's share of the extra 30 issues of content is... episode sheets. >.< Quote
sketchley Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 (edited) Issue 3 content breakdown: http://sketchleystats.webatu.com/Trans/MCRseriesguide/MCRseriesguide.php#3 Summary: I really like whoever they've got colour correcting at the printer. The colours are vivid compared to the original run, especially the red in the VF-19 Kai. Oddly, the episode sheets leave me with the impression that while SDF:M is colourful, MF is washed out, and Earth-tones. Might just be the due to the episode... The VF-19Kai sheet is the A sheet. Presumably the Battroid mode, Sound Booster equipped painting in the original will be moved to the B sheet, just like what has been done with the new YF-19 w/ FAST packs painting.
