Nick, those are awesome pics. Can't wait to get my saddle bags and stinger launcher. I think it looks pretty good with the bags attached. Restrictive, yes, but if Stick or Lei were carrying some important items, they could still fight and carry their stuff.

looking great. Still sending these out. Thanks for everyone's patience.

Too bad the Blow Superior never came out. Looking at those pics I think some micromissile packs on the hips would make it look really good. Sorta like samurai hip armors. It would have looked awesome with the swords.

With some of the skills you guys have, I'd like to see someone attempt making a Devastator custom. I think I'd crap myself. I'd try it, unfortunately, I cant even get myself to finish my Blowsuperior custom, its so hard to make the parts and such, and doesn't help that I did no pre-planning, plus I'm lazy

Hey spedfish, I was wondering if that bike in your profile pic was an actual custom off of a regular Beagle? Did you really mod a regular beagle into that?!!!

Sorry if you've already addressed this before.... ^_^

Nah, its just a custom I made from one of those Imai transforming kits from years ago, and is in permanent bike mode. A little project I have picked up, is makin a Bartley Megahouse using parts from an Imai kit I had. Its scale is almost a perfect match for the Megahouse. I'll take pictures sometime to show where I'm at with it.

Still, its really cool, and good luck with that new project :) If you ever get the chance, you should definitely consider making a Bartley or Yellow version of the Beagle (you definitely seem to have the skills to do so)!

Thanks, I am tryin to make a Yellow version of the Beagle, I haven't had that much experience with using plastic styrene and transforming parts, etc. I know alot of the parts and things I've made have probably been made the hard way, its just takin forever and I get frustrated sometimes. I am makin pretty good progress on the Megahouse Bartley tho, since I don't have to fabricate nearly as many things, because of model kit parts being swapped in.

Only problem there is that if iirc, HG currently holds the Mospeada license in full, and I don't know that Yamato directly would be allowed to play ball with them. Someone edumacate me if I'm out of date on this please.

Posted

Yamato can make Mospeada merchandise without issue. It's BigWest that prevents the Macross deals from working. Yamato(or any other company) would have to license the Mospeada goods with Tatsunoko for domestic distribution and then arrange a separate licensing deal with HG. This is the same for Macross but with Macross when a manufacturer asks for the domestic rights BW structures the agreement so that the manufacturer in question agrees not to attempt to merchandise the same or similar products internationally. Tatsunoko would make no such stipulation and HG would be extremely eager for any licensing income.

Of course, that's not going to happen. The 30th anniversary for Mospeada is only a couple years away. I've heard that this is generating some interest... but I think it's more the "sweet resin kits at Wonderfest" kind of interest rather than the new toys kind of interest.

Posted

Cool, Jenius, thanks. I thought I had read some years ago that HG had purchased Mospeada essentially lock stock & barrel (precluding any arrangements with Tatsunoko), but I may well be mistaken on that point.

Posted

I just double-checked to verify, the Beagle Ride Armors have the Tatsunoko seahorse on them so Tatsunoko still has domestic rights. Even if HG owned both Japanese and international rights Yamato could still play ball. BW's licensing agreement doesn't prevent the companies they work with from dealing with HG entirely, it just prevents them from dealing with HG for Macross-related goods.

For those that have it, can anyone point out if either of the two Beagle's has any obvious advantages over the other? I haven't got one, but the reviews and pictures have tempted me to go and purchase one. I like both designs, and head sculpts and what not are not a matter to me as well (as it will be wearing its head visor down).

I just want to know if one of the two released is better than the other in terms of construction, materials, design, etc.

Thanks Guys!

Why dream? Make it a reality now. I live in a tiny apartment with my fiancee. But I still manage to cram some of my collection that I want to display.

Nice displays there. Right now, I have a lot of my boxed items and collections in 3 display cases just to consume space for the closet. Still thinking that by the endof year, I'll have a display room. I'd like to have a MOSPEADA section, as I seem to have gained a new found fondness for the series.

I like Bee's toy room. That is a great display set up.

I'm slightly OCD, so though I only keep my motorcycle-related collection in my home office, then only stuff really on display together is what's in scale, meaning my Yamato Bubblegum Crisis stuff, my Yamato Megazone 23 stuff, my CMs MOSPEADA Ride Armors, and my Armor Hunter Mellowlink.

Ok, in fairness, the Beagle Ride Armors and a Megahouse black and white Yellow are on a nearby shelf too.

With the slow down of product releases, does anyone have any information regarding the stated releases of both the MPC shadow beta and/or MPC Marcus Rush Alpha?

I have heard good things about both the MPC Beta and the re-issued MPC Maia Sterling, so I was holding off until I could purchase a Marcus release with a shadow beta (my favorite scheme). Though pics have been shown though, I can't seem to find any release information anywhere??

Can anyone give me some info? Thanks a bunch!

Posted

Both are dead due to poor sales.

Darnit! That sucks to hear. I had some hope that they would still be produced. Looks like I'll just have to paint both of them to my color of liking.

Speaking of which, Jenius, I looked at your website and you have some awesome reviews! Did you happen to get a re-issue Maia Sterling MPC. I have heard its ok, but it would be great for your or anyone's input actually on how sturdy the re-issue is.

If it comes down to it, the Maia Sterling one will be the MPC that I repaint into a Marcus...

Glad you like the site! I would pick up a reissue of the Maia MPC but I'd have to find it at a very steep discount. I'm not much of a Shadow Chronicles fan but I heard they're decent as far as MPC Alpha toys go.

Cool. That means that it won't crumble in my hands as I take it out of the box right? Or worse, come broken in the package?

I really liked Shadow Chronicles for what it was. It kept me entertained, and character designs were pretty good, but the Marcus Shadow Alpha scheme is what really appealed to me. So yeah, I was hoping for a Marcus release, but if not, looks like I will just have to take matters into my own hands and repaint the thing (both alpha and beta)

Sorry for the double post, but does anyone have large scale (or any actually) pictures of mecha from shadow chronicles? Thinking about some customs for building off of the toynami masterpiece series, but have yet to find any good pics for references of design and paint schemes...

So, does that mean it's a "Yes, buy" or "Don't bother"??? While I like the Alpha/Legioss, I was thoroughly disappointed with this design. I normally am a completist, but I just haven't had the drive to get the Maia version, out of fear of the hands crumbling, or the head being bent off center, or the legs not extendin properly, or arms breaking at the upper arm from weak plastic, or excess glue, etc. IF I do ever get one, it would only be because I'm a completist, and it'd have to be at a time when I just have money running out my pockets, which isn't very often.

You're best bet with that is to probably pause the DVD, if you have that kind of patience and desire. The "Artbook" for Shadow Chronicles is hardly an artbook, and has tiny pics. Also, the pics aren't the greates quality. I know of one guy who was doing custom paint to his for the Prelude comics, which probably has the better references.

I'm afraid it just means "I don't really know." If I ever get an upgraded Maia I'll be happy to let you guys know my impressions. From what I've heard from surfin' the web it seems like most people think it's better than most MPCs but that's not exactly the highest praise.

On that note, of all the Legioss toys I have ever reviewed, the best scoring one just got an updated review on my website.

The old Gakken Legioss, I still have the Red & Green one, but Stick's was the one that got away!! After all these years its still a beautiful Toy. B))

That, is still the best formed, best looking Legioss to date. You gotta wonder why Toynami just didn't scale that down, and make the 1/55 or 1/48 version of that with some updates? I think that would've given Toynami a whole different face in the quality world.

I still have my blue and green ones from my childhood. Blue's pretty beat up and the front smaller folding wings are missing and green's arm is off. They are both floppy as hell, but man on man...did they fight some Invid back in my youth!!!
