Thanks, joppewo! I was eyeing that too. I think I'll pass though, not really a fan of the ms

Whaaaat? How could you not be a fan? It's basically the 0090's version of Char's Zaku.

I'm passing, but only because I'm one of those weird people that insists that all their models be in scale with each other, and for me that scale is 1/144. But if they made and HG version, I'd be all over that.

I might pick that up cause I like the geara doga.

I stopped by a hobby town while escorting my mother to her Garth brooks concert. Didn't find a heck of a lot anything interesting except 3 variations of the RX-78-2 which made me laugh. Course 2 of them are the same mold different color pigments. Pegasus color from OYW and original colors. Pretty sure I've done both! Unknown I still got one of them I just don't remember which.

3rd was the 2.0 which was more animation accurate like my GM 2.0.

I like the 2.0s but they're so much more frame than armor and the details are kept so simple which is sad.

I would REALLY like to get a ver ka rx 78. Really really badly.

Apparently complaining to Amazon helps. They basically apologized and said it was backordered, gave me $5 promotional credit, then maybe an hour later I got an email that my Delta Plus shipped.

I gotta get back to IKEA. Definitely need that third Detolf.

Maybe I should try this. I just got an email today that can't ship the figma Nagato i ordered when they said they would and they don't know when they'll actually be able to fulfill the order.

Doesn't hurt to try. Every time I've emailed Amazon to complain, they've done something. Before this, before I had Prime, I'd order stuff and use their Super Saver. Twice, a week had gone and they hadn't shipped, and both times I emailed and complained that I was being treated like a second class citizen, and that it was one thing to have them use a slow shipping method and an entirely different matter for them to take over a week to even put my stuff in a box to get ready to ship. Both times they apologized and upgraded my shipping to next-day shipping. Even if it's physically impossible to fulfill your order any quicker, they might give you a credit or something.

looks cool. i should try getting a MG after doing a few RG's

a long long long time ago, i brought the gp-02a MG being a huge fan of it, the box was huge and looked so cool... but i left it at a friends house and he built it for me <_< he thought he was helping me out...

anyways that was my 40 bucks down the drain and was the end of my MG experience ... then i continued my search for variable macross models.

Dam David that sucks man

On a good note I just got my package today for the

HGBF Try Burning , Lightning , star winning and MG Victory with clear parts.

Started with the Try burning and man it's awesome.

I only have the Torso built but the poses it can with half a body is just worth it already for me.

I haven't placed any stickers on it yet.

for people that paint eyes on a their Gundams, can anyone recommend me a good brush? Would love to start small on painting details

Btw Mike, Bandai did release full Frontals GD in 1/144

lol yeah, i guess i'm weird that way. i prefer to think of the sinanju as the successor to char's zaku for full frontal (i always add 'nudity' to this in my head when i say/type it XD).

i'm the same way about keeping everything in the same scale. the neo zeong was a tough one to pass on.

i think that you'll find it easier to work with mgs, david. detail- (and decal-) wise, the ver ka ones are probably the most similar to rgs. the older ones like the 1.0 zakus, are just a step above hgs, maybe even just half a step lol. funny story about your friend, i have one just like him. good intentions hamstringed by a narrow view of value considerations

how do you guys post pics here using a phone? lol

i superglued the part that i broke on the mg norn. it's the tiny connector to the hinge piece on the back of the armor piece of the left front waist, the part that swivels up and outward when you transform it to destroy mode. worked fine when i connected it to the hinge piece (short gray connector) but, when i snapped the hinge piece onto the 'main/base' piece, it broke again. so i superglued it again. twice. what is it again when you expect different results from the same action/process? hahaha

Well, that's just because Sinanju is probably one of the most badass mobile suits Zeon/Neo Zeon ever fielded. Makes Sazabi look sad.

Take pic with phone, upload pic to Google Drive/Dropbox, go to 'puter, download pic from Google Drive/Dropbox, crop as needed.

I stopped using my phone, though, because it takes horrible pictures. I found my old digital camera from when I went to China, and started using it instead.

if you're on an iphone it'll go to mobile, if you scroll down usually to the very bottom you'll see a link says "Click for non-mobile" or something. You can click that. Then hit more reply options and you'll see it's pretty much just like normal website browsing. You just go mobile cause it uses less data.

Thanks for the tip, mike! I hardly use my laptop anymore though. Phone/tablet 99% of the time. David, who are you gonna pm? Can we make it a group pm?

No prob, David! Trying Hik's full site then more reply options tip now. Will see if the pic gets displayed once attached. Pretty painless process: hit choose file, allow access to the camera/photos, choose existing or take pic, hit attach this file, go! I attached the pic of the piece I was describing

Looks like it worked! Thanks again Hik!

I got no advice, when it comes to connecting pieces that are made to move, you're kind of boned. You can contact bluefin if you wanna pay and wait a lil while, unless the kit has a bluefin sticker and you got the reciept. I always recommend it cause lemme tell you, it's better to get a new part than to try and fix it and wonder if it's gonna stay working or not.

I'm in my own little funk right now. I'm suppose to meet up with a guy from the build group tomorrow I think. He's suppose to hand over his small shield from his EZ-8 so I can rehash it on my GM2.0 which came out nice. Problem I'm encountering now is that the shield is not compatible with the GM 2.0 with modification. Been asking for advice on that through the group but nothing so far. I may end up having to puddy some plasti-weld into the shield with the 2.0 shield parts to get it to fit correctly. Not a big deal but it is a bit of a bummer to do.

We had a huge meet up last night with nearly 12 people sitting around 4 tables building and BSing our love of gunpla and the series line up. It was a great time. Our leader was dressed as CCA Char and he didn't realize this while he was taking photos but as the cooling fans in our area were on his cape was blowing and we all got a pretty big laugh out of it. Good times.

That sounds like a lot of fun, like an in-person sort of thing like we got going here. I don't think there are enough Gundam/gunpla fans around my area for that sort of thing.

That shading around all of the corners looks fantastic, anubis20. How are you getting that look? Graphite? Drybrushing? Some kind of pre-shading?

Thanks buddy! Im using Tamiya weathering master for that effect. I just started using it two kits ago but the results are fantastic!

Thanks, Hik! I got it from Traviss at genteikits. Thankfully it's on the back of the piece and won't be visible (I think I'll just keep it in destroy mode). I'll also swap it out with the regular banshee that I also have since I consider this final battle version more valuable

yeah I enjoy the weathering kits tamiya makes, I got the whole set so I always got enough options.

Today I started working on the Gundam Thunderbolt....dirtying that thing up like crazy considering the mad amount of use that Gundam got in a short period of time in the manga.

I was on my amazon wish list looking over some stuff cause I needed some supplies like new clips and airbrush cleaner so I can work on my Sinanju Titanium custom and told a friend of mine "damn I got like 85 things on my wish list and it's all gundam!" so she asked to look and see. Now she's contemplating on buying me a Neo Zeong or the Dendrobium which are about 250-350 bucks on Prime. I was astonished she wants too just to see me do it.

I've built a few kits over the last year, but I didn't attach any stickers/decals, panel line or paint any of them.

I've picked up panel lining tips from you guys and I will be testing those out on action bases.

I would also like to paint and maybe do some weathering. Any thoughts on hand-painting vs spray painting (can or airbrush)? I'm leaning more towards hand-painting to minimize the required investment.

I think others more knowledgeable than I might have better advice on this topic, but from my limited experience it's almost an apples and oranges thing. I've found hand-painting to be useful for small details, like getting some yellow and black on the molded-on-white head vulcans or the black inside a vernier. On larger areas or whole parts, though, you get a much more even look from using some sort of spray, be it an airbrush or a can.

thanks, mike! i guess my fall back would be spray cans if hand painting isn't recommended. the wife piped in earlier and she said i should look into installing leds on the kits too. XD

I think Steezy on youtube has got a pretty extensive tutorial on LED's....but I don't wanna mess with that stuff at all.

I did a lot of work on my Thunderbolt Gundam. Backpack is finished, shields, legs....even did some weathering. post-600-0-13900800-1429499873_thumb.jpg I'm kind of coming to terms that my weathering tends to be to heavy and unrealistic. So I've tried to lighten that amount by applying it normally then with a flat head brush and damping it I'd go over the parts again and just remove a lot of that dirty and staining I didn't need. The prospect has been fruitful, very much so. The shield on the left is normal, non weathered. The right shield is treated with oil stain and soot.

weathering looks good! that big orange section looks like it's asking for some bullet holes/heat axe slashes! XD

i'm still kinda undecided on whether i want to build kits that look like they're fresh from the production line, or ones that have seen combat.

There's no wrong way of doing one or the other. I still do clean builds with panel detailing but no weathering at all.

Only reason I'm doing it in the thunderbolt is because it took such a huge beating from the constant use Io put on it.

Actually if it were possible I'd do a final battle variant that looked as beat to crap as it did in the manga.
