Wow, how about a new name: GFuuuuuugLy 😄

I threw out the name Gundam Uuuuuugly ont the Gundam show thread, but G-FuuuuuugLy works pretty good

I really like Ikuto Yamashita's designs pre-Rebuild.

Eva, Yukikaze, this Nu and the Sazabi apparently, Nadia's Nautilus...

I think it was starting with the Rebuilds, you saw him and it embrace more and more of his current industrial design aesthetic/phase, which can be nice in the right context, but I haven't found it particularly enjoyable to look at so far.

It's from 2013, he made a matching Sazabi:

Then I think the black in the lower legs is a bit concealing. It’s hard to tell what’s going on shape wise in the sculpt down there and would’ve probably looked better broken up with some grey or something to show the details, but as is just looks like black socks or something

Saw this on tag hobby. Another web exclusive that I really wantIMG_3024.jpeg.9f830b1d0e9e2cfabe6278ea2c9ca0c7.jpegIMG_3023.jpeg.ecd00a8b3170689005fb743bb6a48de5.jpegIMG_3022.jpeg.e5f90b2fafefb40c5d12f98e3f24c0cd.jpegIMG_3021.jpeg.822c2ce7a713fdb522e0fd35bc57fea2.jpegI think it unfortunately only has one set of hands, but I’ve always liked these designs and hopefully they’ll do more, especially the Zaku III late typeIMG_3020.jpeg.410ba28077d9566a9111237868bd59f9.jpegI’d definitely be extremely happy if they do this one

Could someone please tell me the difference between Bandai Chogokin Gundam and  Bandai METALBUILD Gundam!? Thanks...

That’s more of a question for the metal build thread. But from someone that doesn’t buy gundam toys, it seems the metal builds are a step up in price and ugliness, while the chocking ones seem a bit closer to the proper look but with some metal parts. I may be wrong though since I only buy the gundam model kits

Thanks I'll ask there....

Finally got me a torohachi. I wasn’t expecting it so soon. No scalper fees and free shipping since I got it on the special sale at the U.S.p- Bandai store with a few extra items.IMG_3040.jpeg.71c3877002b2502aecf7565cbebdbc88.jpeg

Yamashita illustrates the development himself:

Not sure if this goes here. But I’m genuinely shocked Bandai hasn’t come out with a miniature game yet based on Gundam.

I saw this a couple days ago and really wasn’t sure which section either. They are plastic models, but also more game pieces. I just think it’s a missed opportunity to try 1/200 kits again.

I think they’re trying to cash in on the recent surge in popularity of Warhammer.

Yeah, I kinda thought that’s what the artifact line was, but then this comes out. I still think it would be cooler if the did a super small scale of poseable kits like the 1/220 or the 1/200 kits that they had done but with newer tech to make em really cool but small enough for gaming.

I still think square should have done it with their little front missions trading kits.

It’s so weird that this is one of the only major new master grade kits to come out recently. All the others have just mostly been slightly modified old kits

Not at all.  They've been around since the early '80s.

The GQX looks better in EVA-esque colors.

or no color at all:

While I still don’t like the design, these colors actually help a lot. The clown colors from before really didn’t work
