It was unfortunately a bit expensive for me since I was buying things with allowance money for chores at the time and it was pretty rare back then to see Gundam kits at the local hobby shops out here. It was a downer that they sold it by the time I had the money for it, but the artwork on that box was just the kind of thing that stuck in my imagination. I hadn’t even seen a gundam show or movie till a couple year’s later, but that scene was so cool looking it stuck with me for years Quote

I had the basic 1/144 kit that I picked up in a small mom and pop shop in Sugamo but really wanted this 1/100 kit and would be on the lookout for the box art so it kinda burned in my mind as well. The fin funnels and especially the die-cast parts for the inner frame (maybe a first for Bandai at the time?) were so cool but never came across one. I still see them on ebay every now and then but with having a Metal Structure I don't see why now. And speaking of movies, getting to walk into a US theater and watch Char's Counter Attack for the 40th Anniversary in Dec '19 was a real special treat. Quote

Phyrox Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 That Hambrabi is terrible. I guess I'm getting too old but the design looks overly busy but to no good effect. It's just a jumble of shapes that just don't gel into anything. I can't even tell which end is supposed to be the front. Not a huge fan of the original Hambrabi from Zeta, but this thing really makes me nostalgic for the designs of that era, where not everything looked like spikey mess. Quote
