Mr March Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Have barely any knowledge of Gaiking, but that's one mean looking giant robot. I like the effects and the trailer is all geek bait. Pretty damn cool. Quote

Vepariga Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 after watching that trailer in a dark room with full surround on I was totally amazed and pumped. Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Interesting, I knew this is going to happen all because of the TF movies, have now opened the way for more robot live action movies. I bet the Dynamic fans will scream why didn't they start with Mazinga Z or Dizer. Quote
eugimon Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 looks good. The CG stuff doesn't match the live action stuff very well but it's still full of shiny and win. Quote
wolfx Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 is this official? I got reports that this was a fan-made trailer. Quote
Vepariga Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 is this official? I got reports that this was a fan-made trailer. if that was fan-made then i give them mad props Quote
Duke Togo Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 is this official? I got reports that this was a fan-made trailer. AICN is reporting that this is the real deal, but that this trailer is a "proof of concept" (like the TR2N trailer was) rather than a teaser for the actual movie. Quote
chowyunskinny Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 is this official? I got reports that this was a fan-made trailer. well it's on the Toei Official Site so... more pics, scroll down 3/4 down the page past the Tranformers Animated stuff Booth showing the Gaiking Vid & a CG Captain Harlock??? SuperDimensionalDave Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 It's great that Transformers is paving the way for giant mech movies. Can't future movies be original though? What's with all the clunky, clicky gear transformers sounds at the end of trailer and the disappearring transforming helmet that vanishes? I'm not hoping for much... I'd like it to be awesome, but setting expectaton levels to disappoint. Best I'll hope for is a flashier Robot Jox. Quote
Dangard Ace Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Boring. Not Gaiking without the Giant tapeworm and the Godzilla roar. Quote
azrael Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Reviving 'cuz, apparently, there's movement. Here's the press release VALHALLA ENTERTAINMENT SET TO PRODUCE “GAIKING” FOR ANEW AND TOEI ANIMATION LOS ANGELES – December 18, 2012 – Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment (“The Walking Dead”) and Toei Animation have teamed with All Nippon Entertainment Works (ANEW) to develop Toei’s iconic anime property GAIKING. This marks a new push for Toei into the U.S. marketplace and the first development deal for ANEW.... Maybe the buzz around Pacific Rim is spreading. Quote
Mr March Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 One can only hope Pacific Rim is to blame Read this on Slashfilm yesterday; it sounds like a good plan so far. I loved that proof-of-concept trailer. Quote
