Seconded.

Yeah, I'll second that motion too...

Of course the fact that Michael is listed as being born in 2042 5 years before M7 Dynamite does leave a giant gaping hole to my theory though... but hey at least it shows us that if Michael is indeed part Zolan than Zola had to have been found at the latest 9 months prior to Michael's and most likely his older sister's birthday on 2042.

Yes, that would leave a rather substantial hole in your theory...

No, no...RedWolf is right here. The planet's name is ラクス, which can be variously read as "Rax" or "Lux" or several other combinations...but definitely not "Lex."

Well, the pronunciation used by the commander of Macross-5 in the series itself (ep23 "Sound Force") is definitely "Lux" rather than "Rax". It would make a good deal more sense too, since "Lux" is the Latin word for "Light", and "Rax" is the name of an Austrian mountain range containing Hell Valley and a regional fast food chain based in the American midwest, neither of which is a particularly inspiring thing to name a newly colonized planet after.

LOL Given the amount of cultural contamination I'll peg post first contact at least a generation. Around 25 to 30 years. It takes at least 20 years for such cultural changes to stick. (Based on the Philippines' American 50 year occupation, short British occupation during the Seven Years War and Japanese occupation during WWII)

Don't forget the period of Spanish rule!

Well that's different its more than 300 years. Where as cultural assimilation via public schools for two or three generations during the American occupation cultural influence lasted decades to this day. Where as British and Japanese occupations were very short for any full blown impact. Though the Japanese did tried to teach Nihhongo to children in public schools it did not have a lasting impression. On the other hand Japanese influence in children's games is noted such as Paper-Rock and Scissors with a Jan-Ken-Pon rhyme, card games, and I don't know when this cultural contamination came in during or after the occupation the dreaded Kancho.

Point is given the Zolan's absorption of Human culture they are xeno-culture sponges. Their radio drama love reminds me of all the soap opera imported by my country from all over the world. (On that note I hate soap drama.)

I wonder if that Zolan town (or village?) we saw on MD7 is just a slice of all Zola, with bigger city elsewhere. However that place got a spaceport and a headquarters of Patrol Army. Also, Gamlin looking for Basara there, if there are bigger city maybe he'll start searching in another place. So maybe Zolan civilization is no more advanced than what we saw in that place. That town looks peaceful and tranquil btw, and radio dramas are enough; no need for TVs or internet ^_^ . No wonder Zomeo want to spend the rest of his life there.

Zolan did have technology that we did not see with Humans or Zentradi namely their laser stun guns.

Human guns and Zentradi blasters would leave a person seriously injured or dead. Though considering a mere wound could be fatal for a non-native due to microorganisms I could see why they have this policy.

Zola Patrol seem to treat everybody with kid gloves as seen with their sticky adhesive ammunition. Considering they deal with crooks not terrorists or Zentradi rebels I can see why they have this policy again.

What we saw in Macross Dynamite 7 is a coastal area. Maybe there are metropolitan areas on other parts of the planet.

As for how Gamlin managed to track down Basara there is a space port nearby. Probably started asking of a guy with glases and a guitar.

This is another unsupported assumption put up as fact... in this case, drawing conclusions about the extent to which Zolan culture and entertainment preferences have been affected by prolonged exposure to Earth's culture using a impractically small sample population. We can't draw any rational inferences about the way human culture has influenced Zolans, since Macross Dynamite 7's story only involves a handful of Zolans directly... many of whom (the Zola Patrol) use human overtechnology out of simple necessity. We only see a handful of Zolan civilians, and Basara only interacts closely with Lawrence and the Hoyly family, and as such it would be unwise to assume that their taste in names and/or entertainment are representative of the entire Zolan population.

For all we know, radio dramas like "Zomeo and Zoliet" and human music like Fire Bomber are a niche market on Zola in much the same way anime and jpop are in the Americas. We could take that same assumption even farther and say that the human-sounding names some Zolans have might be the closest approximation of their actual given names to make it easier for non-Zolans to pronounce (presumably the Zolans did have their own language before they encountered human explorers), or nicknames they adopted after humans had difficulty pronouncing their given names. After all, there's a limit to the number of different noises the human(oid) mouth can make...

Zolan did have technology that we did not see with Humans or Zentradi namely their laser stun guns.

Which may or may not be originally Zolan technology... like the adhesive-firing gun pods carried by their secondhand VF-5000s, they may be simply be a Zolan adaptation or modification of something humanity developed. Obviously the human security forces, who deal not only with criminals but also with terrorists and the like, would probably find using stun beam weapons inadequate in much the same way that some police complain about the inconsistent effectiveness and unreliability of non-lethal technologies like the beanbag gun, rubber bullet, and taser. The Zolan security forces appear to be pretty committed to taking a non-lethal approach to crime, which would probably prompt them to adopt something like that even if it wasn't entirely effective.

It is also entirely possible that they used portable sound-energy detection gear to track him down... they did it once before in the Macross 7 "movie".

Gamlin was informed that Basara's song enegy was detected around the rim region where Zola is.

Since he is carrying a picture of Basara asking around instead of waiting in his Valkyrie for a beep Basara was still likely in a catatonic state when he got there. Else he would've found him in the forrest singing. That or Zola Patrol officials told him about a weird human in critical condition escaping the medical ward. They put out a bulletin on Basara though they haven't ID him yet.

On another note Macross 11 should be around that rim region if it is popular with Zolans and black market cirminals. Gamlin and Mylene likely took several folds to get to Zola as Macross 7's last known course is the galactic core region.
