MechTech Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 My secret to realistic damage - real damage! Burn/drill out the blast holes, sit a LITTLE match head or gun powder in it, and hold a lighter next to it. Can't argue with the real deal No sweat on the car. I'm getting a manual X Y table for my drill press. It will make life a lot easier - even if its cheating - MT Quote
Ranger565 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 LOL. I think it will look good once I am done. Mech if you do find time to work on the Car, let me know the cost, I will pay you. Right now I am working getting the building parts. Evergreen and Verlinidin is my hero! Quote
derex3592 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Think I'll just stick with my weathered (by me) Yamato 1:60 Destroid..... Quote
Iceblue106 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Ya I think I would rather settle with customizing a 1/60 scale "hawk" versus shelling out money for a smaller scale version. I also agree that actual damage/real damage is the best way to go. I had previously a thread/forum in which I was customizing a 1/60 hawk with LED lighting and the likes however it seems to have "disappeared" from this site during the move. I may have to re-post it again along with the updates. Quote
Maiden Japan Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 It is a fantastic kit, but the price is just not acceptable. I think because in Japanese market the most retailers sells new items 30% off MSRP, which makes the original price of 7140 yen goes down to 4998 yen, just under 5000 yen. ...wow...still not worth it. I think I will stick with 1/60 scale Yamato's, too. Quote
jardann Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 The kit has some really interesting options and features, but it also has some proportions that look goofy to me. Especially the legs and the cannons seem thick and clunky. Even though I have one of the Captain's awesome resin kits, if it was a nice price @ $30.00 or so, I might get one, but if it's over $50 I don't think I'll be interested. It's a shame too, because I love the destroids and would like to be able to support these projects. If they come out with a Spartan, that might be a pickup for me even at a high price. Quote
Ranger565 Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Just wait until I get my hands on this thing! Oh its coming too! Quote
electric indigo Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I love this page layout: one more from Dengeki: Quote
Jefuemon Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Hobby Search and HLJ are now showing an availability of around August, but the Wave homepage still says around the end of June. Guess when I go to my local hobby shop this Saturday and reserve I'll know for sure. Quote
AcroRay Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I totally love the Wave vintage-style box! But for the price I think I'd rather just have the vintage kit. I don't like Wave's price and proportions, either. Maybe they think that with the vintage style box, people will buy it mistaking it for a vintage kit since it's price at what the old ones are now selling for. Quote
Ranger565 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I know you guys think I am nuts but what I think is really bothering you guys is the guns on the head/face. They are very wong, I will admit that. But its fixable. very fixable. I have already started getting my materials togeather for this thing. Carl Quote
Iceblue106 Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Hey Carl, Did you ever get a good scan of the decals from anybody? If not see if this one works for you. (sorry about the ink splotch though) Blue Quote
Ranger565 Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 yes I did but thank you I can use this one too! Quote
TheNightclerk Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I love this page layout: one more from Dengeki: What month issue is that from? That's such a cool spread on that kit. Thank you for sharing. Ty Quote
electric indigo Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Here's another page. The article is from issue 6/2010 Quote
Ranger565 Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Yeah I am going to have to fix the Waist and the head, The Waist is too skinnny, almost like its starving to death and trying to get in a corcset. Quote
TheNightclerk Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Here's another page. The article is from issue 6/2010 Thank you for the info Indigo! I just can't wait to get my hands on this kit. It is expensive but Ami Ami seems like a fair deal. There is a fair amount of wonkyness to this kit but compared to the original it's a work of art. All take care, Ty Quote
ron5864 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Looks like the waist has a pivot joint that allows it to lean forwards/backwards and side to side. Quote
TheNightclerk Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 (edited) Here's another page. The article is from issue 6/2010 I came across some links to dealers from this year's Wonder Festival in Japan and I think this is the same guy who did the 1/72 Tomahawk build for the pics above. He's really good. Thought I would share the link in case you guys want to take a look at his build up of it. SuS4 Take care, Ty Edited July 29, 2010 by TheNightclerk Quote

electric indigo Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Just got the shipping note from HLJ. And that box art is just epic! Quote
Jefuemon Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Picked mine up today. Yes, the Tenjin artwork on the box is worth it! Well, I think the kit is worth it,too. Try posting a few photos tomorrow (it's bedtime here now). Quote
Jefuemon Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 To those interested here ya go. Pictures of the box, and parts. Looks like Hobby Search already has a scan of the instruction posted, so I didn't bother with any of that. Quote
Jefuemon Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Some folks don't waste any time in getting new kits built. Must be nice to not have a backlog...... Only a snip at ï¿¥20,000, too. Quote
cool8or Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Wow, artbook is awesome!! Could anybody scan it in hi-res? Quote
AcroRay Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Humn! I wonder what happened to the vintage-style white box art? Not that this final version is bad in any way whatsoever. I'm just curious. Does Wave ever producer posters or larger advert fliers of box art? If so, I'll need to have a friend in Japan keep her eye out for me. Quote
Maiden Japan Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) That white vintage style box art was actually a part of featured article page of Dengeki Hobby Magazine. They took a photo of acutal painted model then made to look like a model package. It would be nice to have a large poster of those box arts. Edited September 17, 2010 by Maiden Japan Quote

Jefuemon Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Just found this Tomahawk diorama while searching Yahoo Japan auctions. One day left, and right now the price is only ï¿¥8250. Quote
PetarB Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 That looks great, except for the fact that it's totally out of scale! Kamjin would be laughing at that little Tomahawk... Quote
Maiden Japan Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Well his discriptin saids that Glaug on base is from 1/100 scale kit, while Tomahawk is 1/72 scale. I guess he couldn't find 1/72 scale Glaug... The diorama itself looks great. Quote
