BlueMax Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Haha... the irony of it..... it looks menacing, when it really stands for pacifism
Kicker773 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 So true.. but there was the one time where he shot rockets saving Rex and her gang..lol
boyarque Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I'm breaking my piggy bank....and somehow I feel there's a chest locking mechanism there...
Chronocidal Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I think that fighter pic is an accurate render of the valk, it's got all the same features you can point out, especially the placement of the lex and such. Now the big question I have... is this one going to have ball and socket joints for the hips, or are they going with type of joint Bandai used on the Hi-Metal? It looks like the intakes can pivot outward on those plates they're attached to, but only time will tell. I honestly really like the way the Hi-Metal's hips work, so I wouldn't mind them doing that at all really, as long as the joints are tight.
anime52k8 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I think that fighter pic is an accurate render of the valk, it's got all the same features you can point out, especially the placement of the lex and such. I'm still dubious that it's anything more than an artistic illustration. I'm not convinced yet that it even based on the actual CAD renders, and even if it is, there's so much stylization and heavy shadows that you can't tell anything about how the proportions look. nothing's been show that indicates that the fighter mode won't be chubby, so I'm going to continue to believe that this thing has a fugly fighter mode until evidence is provided to the contrary.
KiriK Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 If i had finished watching M7, i may have been more excited about this. However, after finally seeing the proto pics, i'm kind of interested now. Although i can't help but think his head looks too much like a gundam
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 The chunky look of this thing has me hoping that there are ratchets all over it. Yamato's latest toys(aside shoulder hinges on the V2 1/60 VF-1), have been fairly sturdy and the Fire Valk looks quite good. Ratchets>ball joints IMHO!
Graham Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Yamato should think about including clip-on some fillers for the leg cut-outs too, because the holes in the legs look pretty fierce. I think the Hi-Metal has them, right? Perfect transformation be damned. It's close enough to PT, and some leg fillers will help Fire Valk vans to get that perfect Battroid. If it helps give us a nice looking fighter mode, I'm perfectly happy to live with the leg cut outs in battroid mode. Graham
Graham Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 In the first CAD pic we saw, back in page 6 of this thread (pic attached again below), the gullet already looked smaller than on the 1/60 YF-19 and the angle of the nose looked better as well. I'm fairly confident, the VF-19 fighter mode will look OK. Graham
Ignacio Ocamica Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 The angled down nose makes all the difference!!! I'd be 100% satisfied with my YF-19 with that little change.
Vic Mancini Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 If it helps give us a nice looking fighter mode, I'm perfectly happy to live with the leg cut outs in battroid mode. Graham So am I. But you know that some people will complain. The same people that want optional/fatter legs that they can plug in to their YF-21s for B-mode. And even though I'm not one of those people, I can see their point.

eugimon Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Fighter mode pics! Found these over at Toy-World.com.hk So much for the ugly fighter mode. Things a beauty.
CF18 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Fighter mode pics! Found these over at Toy-World.com.hk Actual source - Yamato's own blog http://www.yamato-toys.com/blog/index.php?logid=282
BlueMax Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Judging from the sculpt, I must congratulate Yamato for being able to make what was previously thought to be impossible, possible: An anime accurate (well, as close as it gets anyway) battroid mode AND fighter mode for the VF-19. This is almost equivalent to the feeling of wonder when pictures of the 1/48 vf-1 1st came out. Kudos Yamato.
EXO Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I was never worried at all about fighter mode. Like I said, the art on the WF sign looked a lot like an autocad rendering. But it's still pretty awe inspiring seeing it as a prototype. Now I feel like modding it into a YF-19....
KiriK Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 ooooo.... fighter mode looks pretty good, but i still see a lot of gaps all around the valk. I hope it's tight and fits together well as i can see that being an issue with this valk
Guest sh002 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 wow might get this and a blazer. maybe they'll release a vf-17 before bandai does.
homura Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 great, i like this vf-19kai, either battroid mode or fighter mode, yamato did nice job!
UN Spacy Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 If you guys still have complaints that's just sad. It's amazing in both modes.
MacrossJunkie Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) I already figured the fighter mode would look good, but it's nice to see some visual confirmation so soon. The only thing I can see there that I hope they improve is how the shoulder is a little blocky at the end that attaches to the joint and doesn't fit the rounded shoulder pivot part. I hope the new transformation method is sturdier. The hinge where the neck of the plane bends and gave so many people trouble with cracks, breaks and stress marks was troublesome. Edit - misremembered how the YF-19 toy transformed. Edited July 28, 2010 by MacrossJunkie
Mommar Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Wow, looks good. I can't get one though, I dislike the color scheme too much. 19S or F would be a cool replacement though I prefer the look of the longer wings on the Kai and earlier VF-19 models.
thankheaven Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Wow, even with a super chunky Battroid mode, fightermode still looks really great. One thing is for sure....the Blazer is going to like insane!
anime52k8 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) TBH, the ass end still looks just as fat as on the existing YF-19, although now the wings are finally large enough that the thing looks like a jet and not a brick. also the rear landing gear look short. Edited July 27, 2010 by anime52k8
Dobber Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) I was waiting for fighter mode pictures before I commented. Gotta say I'm hopefull now. I still would like to see a good profile shot of fighter mode to see how "chunky" things may be, that angle shown can hide an aweful lot. Problem for me though, is that I don't really care for Basara's scheme....I like the 19E just not the color scheme. Maybe they'll make a non-canon version to milk the mold some day like they did with the YF-19. Will definately be interested in an F/S variant and a "hopeful" v.2 YF-19 with these improvments. Chris Edited July 27, 2010 by Dobber
Dobber Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) After looking at the pictures again..and AGAIN!! I gotta say it really does look beautiful!! I agree with anime52k8 that everthing looks much more proportional now too. The wings look great...instead of the little things that the YF-19 mold had. Now, if they could just make a scheme that I liked. Chris Edited July 27, 2010 by Dobber
jenius Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Is it too soon to start clamoring for a V2 YF-19 toy?
kanedaestes Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 ooooo.... fighter mode looks pretty good, but i still see a lot of gaps all around the valk. I hope it's tight and fits together well as i can see that being an issue with this valk Still a prototype no where near finished version so gaps at this point is to be expected. Even still looks like less gaps than the original 1/60 yf-19. I am excited. YES A VERSION 2 YF-19 is now a demand!!!!!
Ignacio Ocamica Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Wow, looks good. I can't get one though, I dislike the color scheme too much. 19S or F would be a cool replacement though I prefer the look of the longer wings on the Kai and earlier VF-19 models. Erase those butt-ugly "painted bolts" from the front fuselage and the color scheme changes 100%, transforming the VF-19 Kai from a kiddies toy to a plane with a scheme that could be from an air show. I know I have my alcohol bottle ready to get rid of that stupid marking YES A VERSION 2 YF-19 is now a demand!!!!! Hear, hear!!! If Yamato just angles the front fuselage down like they did with this VF-19 it will infinitely improve the appearance of the current YF-19 in fightermode. This mold tweak alone justifies buying it again, well at least in my book!! (I still like my YF-19 though )
Uxi Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Wow. That fighter mode looks incredible. I just had my YF-19FP down off the shelf yesterday and still like it. My biggest nitpick is probably the canopy... nice to have a 2 piece canopy but sucks that I can't open it without the nose getting all jacked.
Twoducks Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Yamato, you pretty much nailed a design that was just pure anime magic. Congrats. Big wings look fantastic. Make a Blazer and I'll be getting it along with the Kai. To those that think a VF-17 would look like a whale or that the 19 fighter was doomed... good think yoou don't work for Yamato or any other toy maker.
Chronocidal Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) I'm trying very hard to restrain myself from producing a hideously girly squeal of delight in front of my unsuspecting coworkers at this very moment. I'm being partially successful, but I feel I will need to run outside shortly in the hopes that a nearby aircraft will mask my fanboy enthusiasm. Holy frak am I SOLD. I feel a little tempted to buy a dozen of these things and customize them all. For the first time, I could actually see myself buying every single one of the valks based off this. Possibly in multiples. I do still want to see a side profile, but it looks so awesome already.. even if the gullet is a little droopy, everything else is so beautiful, I know I'm buying one at the very least. If this doesn't spawn a new YF-19, I will be SEVERELY disappointed. They fixed sooo much that was wrong with that design.. big wings, sleek nose.... That being said, I will have no qualms about sacrificing my old YF-19 for parts to customise one of these into a YF-19/VF-19 hybrid. Probably just take the head and gunpod really.. I really really really can't wait, for this, or the inevitable Emerald Force. Graham, we need you to start petitioning now that they pull some alternate schemes out of the Master File, hopefully a white/light grey one with black stripes, or a Skull 1 tribute. I want a low vis VF-19 sooooo much right now. The YF-19 got kinda shafted in the repaint department, and they need to pull out the stops on this one. Edited July 27, 2010 by Chronocidal
