My wife and I rewatched the first one and enjoyed it.  We watched the second one and liked it too.  Hope to see more world building.

Amazing movie magic! My 8 year old daughter can't wait till see the sequel on Disney+. I'd love to take her to see it in 3D but don't know if she is ready for a 3+ hour long film yet, lol.

If she digs sci-fi, she might be ok. When my daughter was a bit younger than that, she would take the vhs of Galaxy quest and put it in and I’d fall asleep about halfway through and since I worked nights, I’d wake up a few hours later and the movie would be on a third watch after an automatic rewind. Some kids sit really well for a good movie.

I have a 10 year old and a 7 year old and they asked to see it so we all went. I was honestly, very impressed my 7 year old daughter hung through the whole thing. It's so visually interesting, that helps a lot. That said, it does end with like 45 minutes of pure violence and I was questioning my parenting afterward... though she said she liked it so that's cool. Next family movie will be Mario or something to reset

I still think they’re disappointing at home, but fantastic to look at in 3D at a good theater. The stories are a bit bland, but visually immersive for sure with proper viewing

This is true as well. But then I'm already in that age where I get dizzy in certain 3D scenes when a lot of things happening at the same time.  

As long that it looks nice on my TV, I'm good.

I really like these movies, the first one was a measure for my home entertainment setup at the time, then the second took so long it served the same purpose, and served it well. I'm excited for a third one, they're entertaining films, and yes, very nice to look at.

It worked for me as theater watches. They definitely need that 3D immersion to really put you in the setting, but the flaws were highlighted by home viewing. The stories aren’t the best and kinda underwhelming and without that gimmick, they’re definitely kinda flat and forgettable. It’s too bad the 3D viewing thing on home setups was such a quick fad. Maybe in the near future standard tv’s will have a better way than having to use the glasses and maybe the gimmick will catch on again in a better way

My feelings too. I haven't see the sequel(s?) so I don't know if the story has gotten better.

The movies are visual candy but as a dad hearing Sully talking about family hit close to home.

I do agree, the gap between 3D viewing at the theatre and at home is just too big. When the first Avatar came out years ago, so many people were raving about it and the 3D, and I thought the movie was pretty meh when I caught up to it at home. Then the second movie came along, I had the opportunity to see it in 3D IMAX and was blown away by the experience.

Yeah, it’s kinda like buying a ticket for an experience like a ride rather than just a movie, while the movie without the experience feels a bit shallow. Almost like watching someone on YouTube ride a rollercoaster instead of riding the roller coaster
