Vifam7 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Do you think they will go up in value since these companies are gone? Maybe for some of the more esoteric titles and those whose rights have not been picked up by other companies. Keep in mind, ADV technically still exists as Sentai Filmworks and a few ex-ADV titles have switched hands. Also, many of Geneon's titles were picked up by Funimation. Not to mention that anime titles (at least outside Japan) in general don't hold much value. There isn't much nostalgia here yet and the majority of fans focus more on "what's new". Plus DVDs are increasingly seen as "old media" with the advent of Blu-ray and easy downloads. Quote
Funkenstein Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I do believe Geneon still exists, its just its international subsidiaries that were closed down. Quote
Keith Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 No, not in this futuristic age we live in. Quote
Einherjar Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Services like youtube and hulu might devalue all of that once the remaining companies put more of their content online. I don't understand how they're going to make money with some choices without a enforcing fees to watch them though. Quote
