You know this is the part where I tell you that you're offensive and out of line. And then you PM me for always singling you out. The people that bought this have more right to be on this board than you because they're actually interested in Macross stuff instead of insulting people. Maybe you do it because you have the need to feel better than yourself. You're a troll and you always have been and I'll be expecting more idiotic posts from you if this doesn't put you into hiding while you lick your wounds like you always do. Then you come back and say "Oh I don't collect toys anymore because they don't interest me"... then what the hell are you doing on these boards? I could easily give you the banhammer for trolling here but I think I enjoy pointing out how useless you are. Quote
do not disturb Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 who's trolling? i thought i was making a funny comment, you know like a joke. if you post something you think is going to be funny and some people don't think its funny, how is that trolling? if you can't see the humor in it, you point out how the joke was an epic fail and you move on with your life. are my views, opinions, and unappreciated sense of humor on this board that big of a deal? honestly, some of you dudes hold grudges for way too long. its like you're one of my ex-girlfriends. thats also a joke, not to be mistaken for trolling. eugimon Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I agree, that you have ex-girlfriends is a joke. FYI, just because the whore lists "girl friend experience" in her craigslist ad doesn't make her your ex when your 30 mins is up. Quote

D_Unit Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) Man, this thread brought back an embarrassing memory. About 11-12 years ago I was a young punk cruising around for girls in my V8. I had a stripped down Jetfire and like less than 30 Transformers. One of my ex's at the time showed interest in my toys and she pointed out the "Robotech looking" one. I got so excited that I drove all over town in search of an old chunky monkey so I could spend like $500 on it... the closest I got was a $300 offer for a complete Jetfire. Eventually I ended up at a specialty toy store that my friends and other toy retailers recommended. The owner told me he sold all his Macross stuff just a few months back. The only thing he had left was a complete 1/3000 SDF-1 (with box) for $100. Being the ignorant punk that I was I just walked away from disappointment. I thought my chance for redemption was finally at hand when Yamato announced their 1/2000. Now that it's too limited/bland/expensive to ever be in my collection... I think I should be doing some stretching exercises as I feel the need to kick myself in the head once more. Edited December 28, 2009 by D_Unit Quote

Are you really trying to get out of it? Earlier in this thread there's a guy that posted pictures to show that he owned it and let me quote you "i can't believe that there were that many stupid people that shelled out $2000+ for this" so yeah you pretty called someone on the thread stupid. Why don't you be the guy you pretend to be and man up, so you can just admit to being low self esteem troll prostitute-loving troll that you are. Quote
hutch Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Thanks to the banter at the end I went back and checked out the pictures in the front. That thing looks really nice. I am looking forward to seeing what Yamato has cooked up for reducing the size a bit and increasing the producability. Also, TV VERSION!!!!11 Quote

Robelwell202 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 (edited) <<<WARNING: BLATANT ATTEMPT TO GET THIS THREAD BACK ON-TOPIC!!!>>> I'm somewhat disappointed in this version of the Macross, to be honest. It looks rather shabbily done, as if to just get it out there as quick as possible. The color scheme seems a little haphazard, too. I know the DYRL version was a shades-of-grey deal, but this just seems... bad. Personally, I'm not that much of a DYRL-version fan. I prefer the TV version, to be honest. My idea version of the Macross would be a TV version (Daedelus/Promethius) in DYRL colors, but snce these things go for way more cash than I have, it's a moot point. Vi-RS Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 These pictures were posted before in another thread, but just for the record to show painted version. I don't know who did that (I assume Yamato staff) but it seems like it needs more painting on more details. Pictures from OD: Quote
macrossnake Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 (edited) It seems this model has more details than we know, but somehow can't come through well from 'normal' photos... Hope to see some more "close up" shots... And wonder if anyone who has it actually paint it or do some touch up such as pannel lines. Edited December 29, 2009 by macrossnake Quote

This version of Macross doesnt look thatt good like the WHAM version. And again, I have to agree with you that I am a big fan of the TV Macross version. I love the prometheus and Daedelus as the arms. Now it is came with ARMDs that were said to be added to replace the Daedelus/Prometheus arms, it would be a big bonus. Quote
oneiros Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Although the SDF-1 thread has been euthanized, Yamato has put up some more details about the 1/2000, including assembly details, marketing technobabble about how it's the first time anyone has made a prototype design available, and some pictures of the component pieces in the kit: http://www.yamato-toys.com/dev/release_048...ml?rsslnk=index Hello i was reading this post and checking the link and the translation from google and i was thinking that maybe i was getting an error in the translation is this thing really going to cost 200,000 yen????? around 2000 dollars???? i think that is a lot of money for a 60 cm figure don't you think Edited December 31, 2009 by oneiros Quote

doodler7 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Oh my goodness! I'm not sold seeing the photos. Is there a way to bring the price down under $700 USD or somewhere around 60000 yen? As for details in ratio of the $2,300 price tag, I don't think it's detailed enough and lacking gimmicks as I've mentioned on the previous thread. I'm actually about to spend $2,300 today, on my wife and my car's new set of tires, 2nd & 3rd mortgage and HOA fees. I feel bad selling my Matchbox SDF-1. Congrats to those who got it. If you guys can, please take well lit shots; use natural lighting. Quote
VFTF1 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I couldnt drop $2k on this. I just couldnt justify the lack of gimmicks and the non perfect transformation. This is exactly the irrational rationality I love about all of us anime hobbyists. "I couldn't drop TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS on that big piece of plastic representing a brick like space ship that turns into a brik like robot that barely moves at the elbows UNLESS it came with some flashing lights and maybe a slide-open bay door with small 1:2000 plastic goop vaguely reminiscent of destroids coming out of the Deadelus...and maybe a sound chip that had Misa saying "Daedelus Attack!" Pete Quote
Thom Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 and maybe a sound chip that had Misa saying "Daedelus Attack!" Pete If it did say that, then HELL YAH!! Nah, just kidding. I'll be envious of those who can afford it, but dropping $200 on the Quarter is about as far as I'll go, even for a Macross capitol ship. I'll just have to dream about finding that perfect sale someday... Quote
VFTF1 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Hm. Judging from the Overdrive pics...they haven't painted any of the details on the AMRD 1 or 2 carriers. Lots of details missing. Lots to be desired. That said... People who did shell out the 2 thousand bucks for it ought to be praised. Calling them crazy or stupid fails to take into account how they helped the greater good of Macross fandom - namely - by showing Yamato that projects like this do make some kind of financial sence even on the small scale that they did on this... Anyways - I hope they keep at it and finally make an affordable mass produced awesome product... Something along the lines of Bandai's 1:350 Yamato model would be good.... Pete Quote
pondo Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 y'all got to admit, fibre-optic lighting would make that $2000 a LOT easier to swallow Quote

nhyone Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Would it be finally possible to do a slow "flyby" of the SDF-1? That would make it more impressive. 1/2000 or 1/5000 look the same in pics. Quote

Pete That's why we buy them right? Cuz they're fun and reminds us of old childhood memories. And we become suckers when it comes to these limited releases. nugundamII Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I would have dropped about 700 bucks on this thing plus shipping but the 2000 plus was over kill and could get me in real hot water with my wife Quote
OmegaD3k Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Amazing scans, nugundamII! OMG! That thing looks so awe-inspiring, that the price tag might actually be worth it! O_O The dark colors look amazingly realistic and add so much detail to the overall piece. Here's hoping for a mass produced, cheaper version... Quote
VFTF1 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Yes - amazing scans...but STILL the flight decks on the ARMD I and II are not painted ...2000 bucks...unpainted flight decks... the WAVE version was also expensive - but at least they painted the flight decks Oh well... Pete Quote
Bri Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Ok, 2000 dollar is a lot of money but in fairness, compared to high end garage kits and some Forge World projects it's not that crazy. Just stop thinking of it as a toy and see it as a model kit. If you want exclusive you gotta pay. Quote

Just stop thinking of it as a toy and see it as a model kit. If you want exclusive you gotta pay. But model kits are traditionally cheaper than finished models, like this one purports to be. This is clearly what it is - an unfinished grand project that didn't pan out for whatever reason. It has a bunch of things missing but you can also clearly see this would have been the greatest Macross toy ever made...if they managed to do it. Oh well. I hope Yamato went back to the drawing board and are...drawing right now Pete Quote
Agent-GHQ Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Its looking more fabulously sexily amazing! I wouldn't mind dropping $2+ G for this as long as I agree with the details, gimmicks, articulations, accessories and production color. Quote
nugundamII Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 What scale would this be if they did it in the MacQaurt DX Size. At that size they can still maintain the details and mechanics Quote
rsvictor1976 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) I don't know what big fuzz is about this model. I mean yes, it's huge, but it doesn't seem to have alot of detail. The Wave SDF has more details than this. Unless I'm not seeing the details well on the pics... But congratulations anyways to anyone that bought this... Edited January 13, 2010 by rsvictor1976 Quote
DarrinG Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Is the Red Circle on the leg pointing out Macross City detail? Or the concert hall even? Quote
Remko Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 In my opinion (judging from the pictures) the $ 2,000 USD (or € 1,600 euro) price tag is way to high for this model. My other hobby is collecting scale model cranes and construction equipment in 1/50th scale. Just last year there was a model released of the PTC (Platform Twinring Containerized) crane from Mammoet. The model was set at € 1,500 euro's. Fully built it stands about 2,5 meters (around 8 feet) tall, and features amazing detail, plus it's constructed almost completely from metal. For the 1/2000th scale SDF-1 (only 60 cm's long !!) I would pay no more than € 400 euro's, if it was the TV-version with Deadalus & Prometheus fitted. For this model to be worth $ 2,000 USD it would at least have to be somewhere around 1/700th scale with an app. length of about 170 cm's (such as modern battleship kits). Just my two cents... Quote
