sketchley Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I think I read somewhere that they are an outgrowth of or are a future incarnate of the Otec company/organization. Which would explain why they have "a hand in every pie". Quote

Various divisions of it were responsible for the F-16, Virginia-class attack subs, M1A2 Abrams, GAU-17 Minigun, various computer systems, Zumwalt-class destroyer, and Gulfstream business jets. Quote

Good point. The creators of Macross have a history of using similar names to real companies as names for ficticious companies. These range from the obvious to English-speakers Lockhee [Lockheed] to the not-so-obvious Itsutsubishi Heavy Industries [Mitsubishi Heavy Industries] (Itsutsubishi = 5 diamonds. Mitsubishi = 3 diamonds). Edited November 8, 2009 by sketchley Quote
RDClip Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 General Galaxy is my favourite macross company. Even though Shinsei Industries gets to make all the hero valks lately, General Galaxy seems more ambitious in their developments. Quote

General Galaxy was OTEC while Shinsei Industries was everyone else involved with the VF-1 merging. Quote

That's an interesting comparison, though I would compare General Galaxy to Lockheed Martin, which truly has its hands in almost everything from the Orion space craft to a number of jets including the F-16/F-22 (which was acquired from the divestiture of a division of General Dynamics). They also have a consulting and services industry that accounts for 1/3 of their revenue. Quote
VFTF1 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 To make the comparisson truly complete, someone would have to demonstrate how one of these real world companies also produces sexy idol singers Which actually might not be THAT difficult... Pete Quote

RedWolf Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Macross Galaxy appears to be an offshoot of General Galaxy given they mostly spent on it and Macross Galaxy VFDA is also called Guld Works. Though General Galaxy is known for both its human and Zentradi employment Macross Galaxy did not invite Zentradi among its citizens. From the MF drama CD it seems Macross Galaxy has have had its conspiracy far long before Grace joined them. Getting rid of Sheryl's parents as they opposed their plans. Given their AI technology you have to wonder if Macross Galaxy is related to the Macross Consortium. The X-9 and the abolishment of VFs could be some elaborate plan to control the NUNG. Ala Battletech's Amaris who had Caspar ships reprogrammed to enforce his coup when he killed the the First Star Lord. Only to be unintentionally undone by a crazy scientist Marj and Sharon Apple. I would have compared it to Lockheed Martin or Northrop Grumman, but I was specifically using the ones with similar names. When Plus was being written, General Dynamics was still producing fighter planes. Quote
Vepariga Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Becuase General Galaxy dont want o be left out,big companys like to involve themselves in things that have potential to take off, wouldnt it be cool if real-world General Dynamics after the numerous space programs and passenger space-craft arise in later years they do make a seperate branch called General Galaxy. Its in the cards people. Quote
