Singing voice of Macross Frontier's Sheryl Nome, May'n has put concerts for the next 3 months on hiatus due to polyps on vocal chords.

Polyps were discovered a few years back by doctors but have recently worsened. May'n aims to take the next 3 months off to ease the stress on her vocal chords, with Augusts scheduled 10th Anniversary concert at the Budokan 'POEWRS OF VOICE' currently still on track to go ahead as planned.

EDIT:

ANN just picked up on the story.

I have it from a good source that the Kawamori exhibition will be completely different to the Macross exhibits of the past, because they are actually going back to dig through all the stuff that's been in his house for decades and never saw the light of day in public. For example, the fabled "Kawamori Memos", the 100+ notebooks that Kawamori filled with sketches upon sketches of mecha, with each page being a subtle variant, clearly showing the evolution of one design, which Miyatake had alluded to in the Making of Macross documentary. Those things are the stuff of legends, and if that is any of the indicator of the sort of caliber of the things on display, it will be an incredibly worthwhile exhibition.

Actually, this probably warrants a separate thread... ;)

Great Mechanics G: Summer 2015

Macross/Kawamori content roundup:

Pinpoint Mechanics returns, this time, focused on the VF-1 Armoured Valkyrie. No new pictures (if memory serves, the rough design appeared in Memory Perfect, no?), but the article is followed by an interview with Kawamori-san about the Armoured Valkyries (VF-1, VF-0, VF-25.

That is followed by an article/interview about the Hi-Metal R Armoured Valkyrie (interviewees are two staff member from the Bandai Collectors Division).

... and a 1/6 page mini-review of the VF-1S/A Strike/Super Valkyrie being released in mid-July by Hasegawa.

Lastly, there's Kawamori-san's column: Listen to Kawamori-san! The topic this time is "The Technology Near Oneself (or myself) and the Changing Era". Comes bundled with a pict from Aquarion (should I mention that there's an article on that in the mag, too?), and closes out with something on "The Transformation - Kawamori Shoji Design Works Exhibition" at the Tezuka Museum.

If they do feature Macross Zero line art in this book, it's be ABOUT DAMNED TIME :)
Only line art books we've had have book the SK Design Works book and the blu-ray art booklet. It's long overdue for a proper book of Macross Zero art to be released.

I have a feeling it'll be more like the Macross Zero CGI stuff from the Tenjin "Sortie" art books....but one can hope.... ;)

And so I do, most desperately :)

The Tenjin Zero art was in the Valkyries book; the Sortie one was the second book, with Frontier stuff in it. (That's why it's called "Second Sortie").

The interesting thing about this exhibition is that it is government-funded. I heard from someone involved that there are plans for this exhibition to be held abroad, too, regularly as part of a run-up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Which makes me wonder as to the fate of the Macross-related content....
