Big s Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I’m wondering if it will also be available on Hulu. Quote
SSK Posted February 22 Posted February 22 As an European the first thing I'm hoping is that Sunrise implication goes further than animation production, and that they could help the inexperienced Big West to make the right choices internationally. Yeah, with a restricted distribution to Asia and English-speaking territories, excluding a bunch of countries where Robotech and Macross were popular in the 80's and 90's, Disney+ was willy-nilly a terrible choice. I mean even in France we'll have a theater release of the new Gundam in March. Quote

Mechamaniac Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Given Sunrise's involvement, hopefully, the new Macross show won't be Mqruuuuxxxxx. Quote

Captain Global Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Taking into account how marketing was previously handeled for Frontier and Delta and the presence of Meguni Nakajima and Minori Suzuki in the stream, I would bet they are going to announce another contest in order to choose the next main singer. If I had to speculate further perhaps we are going to get a tentative title, but nothing more. If the contest theory is correct, we could expect them choosing a winner arround summer, a full presentation in, september/october and a full release in the first months of 2026. A rollout similar to Delta. But again It is just pure speculation. Anyway It is good to hear that things are moving forward. Quote
Mechamaniac Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I know Delta gets it's fair share of hate, but being honest, I liked it alot if only for the fact that they explored the other civilizations spawned by the Protoculture, and the enemy was a near peer compared to the former series having no chance of victory against ___________ but hey, here's a song so we're all friends now. That said, I think they have developed the song theory quite enough. It's only taken 40 years but we have successfully gone from the Minmay Attack to music being the ultimate weapon. I'd love it if they did something completely different. Hell, a side series like Gundam 0083, 0080, WitP or Thunderbolt where it focuses less on the mythos and more on the harder edge stuff would be awesome. Quote

At the rate they're going with sound and music, the next thing you know, a bunch of drunk NUNS pilots will be using beer farts as a weapon! O,O Quote

Delta took two years from contest announcement to full release (2014-2016) so I'd bump your timeline back by a year. Quote

Thanks, I was surprised this morning but a little disapointed at the same time, Honestly I really was hoping I would be wrong and they would release further details. Regarding the timeline, you are absolutely right, however I would bump it back not a full year but perhaps two or three months. Auditions for Delta were announced in december 1 2014, quite late in the year. Even so, who knows if they are going to follow the same schedule. Knowing the song for the aditions, and going maybe a little overboard with speculations, I think they are going to play it safe. The song is completely in line with the Frontier/Delta syle. Furthermore, it seems to me, and I would want to know what you guys and gals think, that macross is not high in Kawamori's priorities rigt now, given his involment with the Osaka Expo 2025 and the Japan Anime Tourism Association. Also, I would really like to know why Satelight and Kawamori have parted ways, perhaps because of the end of the pachinko deal in 2020? Perhaps beacuse Satelight is night now focused on the Ubel Batt adaptation? Regarding Sunrise. The latest gundam Tv series is going to be handeled by Khara and the only think they should be working on is Hathaway II, maybe this leaves an opening to work on macross as Sunraise has proved thet can handle at least three productions at the same time. However, they might be working on something I do not know. RN we dont have much info, the only think we can do is wait and compile as much info as possible and specualte based on that, at least it's fun. Quote

He was listed as one of the executives as of 2019. Around 2021, he became a "special advisor". The likelihood is that when the partnership with Sankyo Co. Ltd ended in July 2020 and then partnered with Netease Inc., Kawamori probably felt it was time to leave. New bosses, new set of ventures. I mean, who hasn't left a workplace when new management comes in? 🙋♂️ The whole leadership left except for the "CEO" Michiaki Sato. (Courtesy of the Wayback Machine) 2019: 2021: I don't think there was any ill will. It was just time to go, especially if Satelight is eyeing other projects outside of anime. Quote
MKT Posted Thursday at 09:58 AM Posted Thursday at 09:58 AM I guess it makes more sense now why Satelight not involved in the new Macross, & why Kawamori has been doing more direct self-promotion lately. Quote
Captain Global Posted Thursday at 03:06 PM Posted Thursday at 03:06 PM Super intresting info, thanks graman and Azrael, never though about looking into their website. We'll see how it goes from now. Quote
Big s Posted Thursday at 06:42 PM Posted Thursday at 06:42 PM Hope that means less of the cg look to the mecha in the anime. I feel like sunrise has done alright in some of their recent shows giving a more animated than cg look to the mecha despite actually using heavy cg for their mecha in shows like Gundam with a few exceptions Quote

Kawamori-san is 65yrs young this year...maybe he wants to enjoy this part of his life with less stress... still i hope he hasnt given up on designing new valks.... Quote
