Is this region protected and can only play in Asian Blu-Ray players? or does it say anything about "All-Regions"?

It's listed as region free where I bought it.

Besides Japan and US are on the same BD region code (I don't know about every country though).

Another interview with Kawamori:

https://www.animeherald.com/2024/09/25/the-master-of-mecha-shoji-kawamori-talks-with-anime-herald/

Quote:

“But the one thing that bothered me about the car robots… I had fun developing how they would transform, but there are all of these slight paradoxes in the design of the robots. In the robot the car seat would disappear. Where would the engine go? That always bothered me, so when I designed the Valkyries for Macross, I always kept in mind that everything would exist physically in the robot as well.”

I never really thought this way before, but I guess this is a large reason why valks are so appealing as transformable mecha.

Fully agree with that.  I remember when I first saw a VF-1 thinking "it still looks like a plane" even when in battroid mode.  Most other transforming mechs, both before and since, have a tendency to look blocky and have compromises to favor what they look like in robot mode.  Kawamori's Macross designs have always prioritized thier primary function first, and that grounds them in reality (or, at least, a version of it) in a way that most other designs aren't.  Doesn't hurt that he's a genius mechanical designer, either.

Awesome. But, I'm confused. Who's getting married there?? Is this a Macross multi-verse?

:shok:

No, it's just a reference to one of the iconic scenes in the movie.

During Hikaru and Minmay's date (the one that ends with them going for a joy ride in a VT-1) one of the places they visit is a sort of holographic cosplay boutique with a room full of circular projectors that, when stood on, project a holographic costume over the person. In that boutique, they both jump through several different sets of projectors which put them in various themed costumes. The final set of projectors they land on in that scene put the two of them in a wedding dress and a wedding suit like those in that art.
