Ryan Reynolds at Comicon panel. Yes there's a clearer more official one of him reciting the oath but this one shows you the kids face.

Reynolds rules...+1

The suit reminds me of Kyle Rayner's 2nd suit with a touch of his ION costume. The original GL logo is a nice touch. Kilowog, Sinestro, & Tomar Re looks close to their comic book selves. I like to see Katma Tui, Guardians of The Universe, Manhunters, and Zaladanes(the female mates of the Guardians that transformed Carol Ferris into Star Sapphire). Did anybody see the Star Sapphire logo on Carol's flight helmet?

I just got back from watching this movie, and I must say, it's pretty bad, but not as bad as the critics say it is. Ryan Reynolds somehow just doesn't work in his role as Hal Jordan. The special effects are astounding where they work, but unfortunately, the use of 3D kills the rest of the film. There are many instances where it looks like someone literally pasted Ryan Reynolds' face on a CG body. It's probably not noticeable on 2D, but man, what a horrible job. The pacing could improve a little and the plot is shallow and predictable. Hell, I didn't even know this was directed by Martin Campbell. He should've stayed with the James Bond film franchise instead.

With all of that said, Green Lantern is a movie good enough to kill some free time. But that's about it.

Yeah...sounds like they spent all the money on VFX and not the acting talent. Oh well, wasn't planning on spending money on this flick anyways. Heck, I probably won't bother with Captain America either.

Should've known something was wrong when they went with an all CG costume. Totally unnecessary.

I've had a bad feeling about this film since the first teaser trailer. Outside of Batman DC/Warner Bros just can't seem to get it right. Honestly RR was a terrible choice for Hal. Kyle maybe Wally West Flash def but Hal Jordan no. Oh well i will still see it. At least Marvel is putting out enjoyable films this year, can't wait for Cap.

I agree.

BTW. Is Ryan still doing a proper Deadpool?

I always felt he fit that character more than Hal Jordan.

Wow, the critics are unleashing hell on this. I was hoping it would be okay, I do love me some good fun escapist SF. This doesn't seem to be it!

He dropped the deadpool role for GL. When I heard that he was doing GL I was excited. But the more I saw of the trailers and the teasers, the less I wanted to see the film. I can't stand the way Tomar Re and Kilowog look. I don't care for the way the GL costume looks either, and don't get me started on Parallax(WTF). At least the Batman films have been great.

He hasn't dropped Deadpool. He's still attached and working on it but did this first which I think is a bad idea.

Saw it. Not nearly as bad as everyone says it is. But it's not good. I liked the suit design, it's as close as you can get to the comic book version without going the spandex route and aping the Spider-Man textured ski suit. But the execution of it was bad. The FX were very green screenish and harsh. I'm glad it wasn't 3D. I'm not sure everyone else would notice that Ryan Reynolds would be wrong for the part if they didn't read the comic books. So I can't say he was bad, but Hal Jordan he wasn't. Blake Lively... not good as the tough, spunky female pilot that she was suppose to be. She looked like a cover girl posing as a jet pilot in heels. She doesn't have the range that Amy Adams has that she can go from Fairy Tale princess in one movie to Amelia Earheart in the next, and certainly not smart enough to avoid playing both roles in the same movie.

I gotta say though, Mark Strong is an amazing actor. He comes out in a bunch of ridiculous sounding roles and pulls them off every time. It's almost sad to see him wasted as a great Sinestro knowing that he won't get to play it in the sequel. I haven't seen a likable bad guy like him since Alan Rickman.

Oa was hideous. You'd think that a planet inhabited with people with strong will and great imagination would live in a better looking place. It looks like they were all sent to green hell. And as many as there were green lanterns why did they send a handful to go after the "big threat"? It doesn't make sense like much of the plot. They were just standing around the planet anyway.

Finally, I have to say that I'm not a huge Martin Campbell fan. I know everyone thinks that Casino Royale is the crap but I thought the plot was ridiculous, and while Daniel Craig makes a great Bond his decision making is inane and the casino sequence was way too long and boring. And this is coming from someone that loves to play poker. Edge of Darkness was the worst revenge movie ever. Mel Gibson goes around angry the whole movie and all he ever does is slap around an old man in the face. I mean this is Porter from payback. And this movie plays like the highlight reel of every Superhero movie except none of it make sense. You have arbitrary characters that show up for obligatory superhero movie scenes and is never seen again. To me, Martin Campbell makes bad movies and this is just another proof of that fact.

Haven't seen it and really don't know who the hell the Green Lantern is. Okay I lied. I remember him vaguely appearing in the Super Friends. Don't really remember what he did in that cartoon. I doubt anyone save for comic back fans know who he is. The DC line up petty much sucks in name recognition. Most people know Superman, Wonderwoman, Batman & Robin. Who is the Green Lantern? Some CGI movie of Ryan Reynolds flying around with a bunch of cgi aliens. Is that a magic promise ring on his finger? Looked like it was going to suck to me.

If you want to learn about Green lantern, I highly recommend Geoff Johns run on GL. Probably the best superhero comic over the past 4 years. Geoff Johns has been on a tear over the past six years. Also recommend his Infinite crisis. No other current writer, is better than the larger than life intergalactic storytelling.
