Ladic
I would of preferred bradly cooper Reynold Goes Green With New Superhero Role 11 July 2009 7:41 AM, PDT Ryan Reynolds has beaten off competition from Justin Timberlake and Bradley Cooper to play superhero the Green Lantern, according to industry reports. Reynolds, fast becoming an action-hero following roles in the Blade trilogy and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, has been chosen to take on the comic creation, reports Daily Variety. The Green Lantern tells the tale of a group of protagonists who can control the physical world with an all-powerful ring. It will be the first time an actor has appeared in films by rival comic giants DC and Marvel. http://www.imdb.com/news/ns0000002/#ni0873617
Dangard Ace
Reynolds as Hal Jordan? Not my first pick. Maybe as Guy or G'Nort(lol) but not Hal. Ah well, he's still better then that Jack Black GL rumor that was around a few years ago. Wonder if they're going to keep the fighter jock/test pilot origin... Mr March
Interesting. THat's a pretty good choice for casting. I can definitely see Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern, particularly if they are using Emerald Dawn as a template for the character.
mikeszekely
John Stewart > Hal Jordan. Maybe get Richard Jones to play him. I really liked him as James Ellison in the Sarah Connor Chronicles.
David Hingtgen
Gah, he was my last choice of the 3.
eugimon
John Stewart > Hal Jordan. Maybe get Richard Jones to play him. I really liked him as James Ellison in the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Oooh, that's a good choice. Honestly, Hal is my least favorite out of the Green Lanterns... he's just boring.
mikeszekely
Gah, he was my last choice of the 3. Ditto. Four if you count Kyle Rayner, and five if you count Alan Scott, though Jordan's still at the bottom. Honestly, Hal is my least favorite out of the Green Lanterns... he's just boring. Ditto again. Jordan's the Green Lantern's powers on a stereotypical silver-age character.
David Hingtgen
??? I meant last choice out of the actors, not last choice out of the various GLs.
Chewie
I think Cooper would've been a better cast. Hal loses slightly on the badass factor to Kyle, but is still awesome. John Stewart: Feh.
Scream Man
If u had asked me before i got into DC properly, I would have said Kyle was my favourite. Then Geoff Johns started writing Green lantern, and now Im totally sold on Hal. ryan Reynolds....eh. I wouldnt have picked him. but we'll see, I've been surprised before. Graham
Heh, for an instant I read the thread title as 'Burt Reynolds is Green Lantern'.
Einherjar
Guess we won't see a Deadpool movie anytime soon.
mikeszekely
??? I meant last choice out of the actors, not last choice out of the various GLs. Oh. My bad. ...You thought JT would have made a better GL than Ryan Reynolds? I mean, I'm not saying that Reynolds is a good choice for Hal Jordan, but (and this is coming from someone who wishes JT would just permanently join the S&L cast already, because I like him as an actor better than a singer) when I think of Hal Jordan I definitely do NOT think Justin Timberlake. Heh, for an instant I read the thread title as 'Burt Reynolds is Green Lantern'. That's... well, I guess that's better than Ryan Reynolds... David Hingtgen
I didn't really want any of the three, and of those 3 would have gone with Cooper, but I do rank Timberlake above Reynolds.
EXO
don't really mind Cooper or Reynolds. I probably would have preferred Aaron Eckhart but I'm not a big fan of Martin Campbell so it's no big deal.
Scream Man
See, my pick was Rodney Rowland who i think would have been a great Hal
RavenHawk
My pick was Nathan Fillion, like in the fan-made trailer on youtube.
HG Blows
Hmmm, deadpool and green lantern? That's just weird, was really looking forward to deadpool too (FOX produced though, so how great could it be?). I am a Martin Campbell fan though, Goldeneye and Casino Royale were bad ass. dreamweaver13
Well, i'm not thrilled about this. it's nothing about the GL casting. i think Reynolds can pull Hal Jordan off. it's that the Deadpool movie will be pushed way back... if it still gets made at all. badboy00z
He seems to fit Kyle Rainer better IMO. I can't take him seriously since he played Monty in Waiting. Lol.

azrael
Well, the producers said they were going for something more alien in the costume...

David Hingtgen
My first thought at seeing that costume was "Venom".
CoryHolmes
Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Accept no substitutes.
Zor Primus
I hope they let him be funny. I love that guy. QFE...he's awesome. Full range of acting skills...Goof off in Van Wilder & Waiting, Psycho Husband in Amityville Horror, Action hero in Blade & Wolverine...I think they scored a TD picking him for the role. Really looking forward to this movie...considering what Marvel is doing "so far" with Thor...

baronv
Costume's not bad, I like how they kept Hal's classic GL logo and not some of the more modern looking versions from the comics. His hair's too poofy for my taste though in that shot. Looks like a GL Mr. Kotter.

Golden Arms
Damn I can't wait for this to come out. The cast looks amazing so far. Carol looks hot, and I think Angela Bassett will make an excellent Amanda Waller. They mention a possible trilogy, I hope it will follow Geof Johns run in GL. Which I highly recommend. It has been one of the best DC comics put out over the last several yrs.
