nickster Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 Continuing on the build. Here's the clear coated sv-51 After 3 days of drying time, I started polishing the legs/engine of the plane. Notice the sheen on the legs are smooth while the fuselage and wings are coarse. the difference between well polished and coarse clear coat is aparent in this photo. High sheen on the nose and cockpit area. The boosters were also polished and so are the missiles. the completely shiny Ivanov boosters vs the clear coated only Nora boosters. Drilled holes on the rear of the missiles too. Removing the dried compound on the panel lines took a lot of brushing, dishwasher liquid and water. Still some remains like the leg on the right of the picture above. Polishing hard on some surfaces scraped the clear coat and paint. Repainting and clear coating again is in order on the panels that were burned through. 'Till next update... have a great week ahead 😀 Quote
nickster Posted July 5 Author Posted July 5 This week's update on the SV-51 gamma: Repainted the burned through paint then followed by clear on numerous sections and likewise the fins. Taped off those parts that were polished good. While waiting for parts to dry, the broken sharp wing tips were replaced with 0.5mm brass wire. After careful polishing using tamiya compound with a bit of 3m swirl mark remover, here are the pics of the plane. As you can see, everything looks shiny. Contrast will be added later on the black parts that's suppose to be semi matte or flat. Until then... happy weekend, guys! Quote
