If Speilberg fired Fox (who's a $hitty actress anyway) because he thinks she's anti-semetic, that's lame because lots of people refer to their boss as Hitler. Hitler's name is still associated with nazis, but it's also become a way to say your boss is a dictator....hell, even Seinfield makes Hitler Jokes.

However, if his reasoning is because of insubordination, then yeah, valid point. Fox publically critizised her boss, and that's a no-no in any work place.

Either way, she's better off in porn.....except they should never, have any shots with her weird toe-thumb.

Let's put it t his way. If you were the dude who directed Schindler's List, and started up an organization to chronicle holocost survivor's, then it doesn't look good to have a sh!tty actress spewing things which could be construed as anti-semetic while working on one of your productions. As for Jerry Seinfied, he's Jewish, so he can. Just like how I can.

To some people the name Hitler still means Hitler. Again, based on how often he used Germans as villains, I'd say Spielberg was one of those people. And personally, if I was working on a project he was a part of, I wouldn't take a chance and avoid the comparison all together just in case.

I know, I know...it's totally evil to try to introduce you to stuff that's good, and get you to ignore the stuff that's bad, right? B))

I like how the past two pages of this thread have been about nothing. This truly is the Seinfeld thread. :p

I really, really hate to bring this thread back on topic, because 2 years on I'm still sour from Revenge of the Fallen, but there's a new TV spot online which shows Bumblebee transforming with Sam inside, while driving down the highway. That's one of the things I wanted to see in the first movie, but was quite disappointed we didn't get.

Maybe this new one will be good, after a terribly lackluster attempt, like the Macross Frontier movies (the second was the TRUE movie, the first was "here, have this while we work on the real movie"). I still don't know if I want to gamble my cash just to find out, though. They are getting progressively worse.

I've been looking at the comic adaption for the movie....I'm not terribly impressed. But it doesn't skimp on the explosions at least...:):unsure:

Still sour from ROTF? I'm stil sour from the first movie, never mind the second. In another thread, Lucas was accused of having no standards because he listens to his fans (cutting Jar Jar from ep 2 and 3). Here is a perfect example of a director not listening to the fans. Speilberg should have fired Bay along with Megan Fox. Have any of those three morons even watched Transformers?

I think they just watched their bank accounts and dind't need to see anything more.

have you?

The cartoon was sh!t. Honestly, Prime turning into a crocodile. Prime's arm stapled to a building, shooting things... it was a cartoon aimed at 5 year olds.

Bay is a 5 year old with a 16 year old's sex drive. It's a perfect fit.

O.K. and Megan Fox was doing what BEFORE Transformers?

apparently washing cars.

I'm not against any girl speaking up for herself either. A poor choice of words, yes. But who cares... she's in movies now. And c'mon... who the hell says Stalin?

When does Prime turn into a crocdile? Arm stapled to a building? WTF are you talking about? The cartoon was aimed at 5 yr olds? So anyone over 5 can't watch them? I suppose comic book series by IDW was also aimed at 5 year olds? Was the animated movie aimed at 5 year olds?

Bay has the intelligence of a 5 year old, with no business making films for fans of the original series. Generation 1 charecters had great designs and didn't need to be all turned into metal shards. And though the original series may seem childish to us grown ups by today's standards, at least they got one thing right, the show was about TRANSFORMERS, not Spike (or his stupid parents), or his bimbo girlfriend, or some elite group of soldiers. Bay's movies are filled with explosions and it's like watching one big trailer....that's all his movies ever are.

You want sex drive, follow Megan Fox in her new porn career.

seriously, go watch the cartoon, it's complete garbage. And why should the studio give a crap what the "fans" want? The Fans let the franchise slide into further and further into obscurity. You're mad at them for making hugely successful movies that reinvigorated the whole franchise, spawned a sustained toy line through multiple story lines including G1, comics, and 2 new cartoon series, and a video game series that people actually want to play? Man, some people are never happy.

I'm not mad at anybody. I just hate the new designs, and figure there should be more transformers, less humans in a movie called Transformers. Clearly, you're the who's not happy, lol!

Transformers is an incredible franchise. It's probably the only one that started off as one of the 30 minute commercial cartoon craze in the 80s that constantly produced shows and kept selling new lines of toys up to now that spawned a really successful movie franchise. A movie getting made doesn't equal instant success. G.I Joe might be second but it's no where near what TF is. And there's a plethora of other failed properties that had toys, cartoons video games that were made into movies that hasn't achieved what TF has. OK, maybe failed is a strong word but none as successful as TF. And I'm not a big fan. I don't think the movies are good and the cartoons are barely re watchable to me. Gotta respect the machine that it is though. I laugh when I hear Shia Lebouf say that Michael Bay is responsible for what Transformers today.

Lucas Knows the fans will buy anything that says star wars on it. If Lucas actually cared about his fans he'd actually make a squeal to the original three or release the original theatrical version on blu-ray. Or hear me out... Let some else write star wars.

The G1 designs are over 25 years old and are obsolete. I don't know about you but I haven't seen anyone with a boombox lately.

The G1 series is dated. I watched the episode where Carly first appears. It was crap. The animation was poor One scene bumblebee can fit inside a videogame arcade (Haven't seen one of those in a long time) the next scene he's taller than a traffic light post. Then turns out to be a stalker. Feels bad b/c she cause an accident to happen to Wheeljack. So she decides to blow up the Decepticon base BY HERSELF.

He does let other people write star wars, which more often comes out like crappy fanfic novels with official publishing. I'll take the new Jabba's Palace scene over that crap any day.

Shia wasn't even around when beastwars came out, so what does he really know. Yes Transformers has made him a bus load of cash and boosted his career. But do we really care what he thinks.

Itoo always wanted more robots less fart and hump jokes no parents, but that is the Bay style.

In G1 Spike/Sam was always the character getting into trouble, no change there in the bayverse, but I have real issues with how they have dumbed down Sparkplug/Ron in G1 toon and comics he was mostly an intelligent character. I have grown a custom to the new designs and now actually like them.

This is very similar to of the point I tried to make in another thread. And that is as fans of original's we tend to look at them thru rose colored glasses and sometimes not as objectively as we should.

The new Transformer films are made for the current generation with a nod here and there for the old school fans to keep us coming back for more - hoping the filmmakers will acknowledge what WE feel about the source material. When in fact they're after the dollars of the current generation of fans, hoping that one day they'll care enough about the franchise to keep it going once they're into their 30's, 40's, etc.

Disagree with statement 1. - not passionately but I tried to watch a few of the original episodes and hot-damn they were bad. Loved them as a 9 year old, not so much now.

Agree with statement 2. - except some of the newer designs, mainly Prime and Bumblebee have grown on me.

LOL - was thinking the same thing. She's certainly no Megan Fox, for better or for worse.

Personally I just want to be entertained, I want to go with my childhood friends and with my 14 year old son (I swear 10 grey hairs just appeared as I typed that) and I want us all to have a good, summer-blockbuster good time. Nothing more and nothing less.

I agree that the original source from 1984 wouldn't cut it today, for example wtf is a cassette player, most kids realise that cd is dead so tape to them is practically archaeology.

Could you imagine Soundwave kept to his origin ? He'd be an Ipod and the cassettes would be mp3 tracks. Just wouldn't work even if Steve Jobs let them use it.

The occasional nod is expected to satisfy us old timers and because of the story sometimes unavoidable.

I as with everyone hate the toilet humor. Transformers always had its tounge in cheek moments but Bays humour is to far off track for me. I dont remember half as much in his other films. Maybe its an age thing, and he is in his mid life crisis or something.

Rose tinted glasses is what brings most of us here,so I'm happy to keep mine on. Even though in all my 70's-80's anime DVD's, Macross included, I have many episodes I pretend don't exist.

That said my friends kid loves the bayformers and has grown to love the G1, the reverse of most of us. :)

I got to watch the recent trailer for the movie and had to ask myself how much stupid human drama I would have to sit through just to get to the action sequences in it. That's something I learned the hard way going through the first two times, unless there's going to be actual character development for the Transformers in a Transformers film for once.

Perhapes it's a bit early to start speculating about this but when the DotM DVD/BR's come out, which character do you think they'll base special edition transforming disk case after? I'm kind of thinking Sentinel prime since the last two cases where prime and Bumblebee; but I'd kind of like a Decepticon case, either megatron or shockwave.

A Decepticon would be nice, although I'd bet for Ironhide though.

When DotM comes out on DVD I will be probably going to make myself a special minimal humans version of all three films, I'm guessing that edited all three will only be slightly longer than one normal film. Ether way I'll post the assembly file here on MW so anyone who has the same software I do can make the same version.

Keep dreamin', man, keep dreamin'...

To be fair, I had the same feeling of "why the hell am I wasting my money on this sh** again??" as I was walking in to the second Macross Frontier movie. But that one was totally worth it. So I figure I may as well give this one a chance. Then again, I might just be walking out hating myself, like "fool me thrice, shame on my entire being".

This movie won't be out for another month over here, so I look forward to spoiler-free reviews, please.
