Gubaba Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 DANG!!! She's cute, she can sing, AND she can model and paint?!! SOMEBODY going to be a lucky man one day!!!! Yeah...there you have it. Megumi Nakajima: the ultimate wife for the truly discerning Macross fan. Espcially since she probably has Kawamori's home phone number. Quote
UN Spacy Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 So. Is this the lineart book we've all been waiting for? Quote
azrael Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 So. Is this the lineart book we've all been waiting for? Maybe? It will probably be like the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Archives. 1/2 or more of it will be dedicated to the 1/72 models and scratch-built kits while the remainder will be the animation lin art, model lineart and commentary. I have the Gundam 00 Archives and it only covers Season 1 but 2/3 of the book is dedicated to models. I expect the same with this book. Most of it will be models (This is a Dengeki Hobby book after all) and the rest will be the CG lineart which is out there and then the 1/72 model lineart which is floating out there. Quote
badboy00z Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Wonder if we will hear news about the 1/48... Quote
Paliodor Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 (edited) Great news, another Macross F book and another thing on my "buy list" for the next month. Now I only have to wait for pre-order on HLJ, was there few seconds ago but this book wasn't on the list in the "future release" page. I have to agree with you guys about Megumi. She's probably the ideal women for any Macross fan... btw. Do you know some other shops than HLJ, that sell books from Macross and Gundam? Edited June 21, 2009 by Paliodor Quote
ff95gj Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Isn't it a bit early to issue an archive for MF? While the TV series is over, there is the movie coming... And even if we assume there would be nothing new in the movie, the TV series model kits are still far from complete. The VF-27 and Q-Raus are not out yet, and so is the 1/48 VF-25. And the Vajras. VF-171 too maybe? Quote
Graham Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Hopefully, there'll be a book 2 for those kits not out yet. Graham Quote

A scratch-built Anf, various Tierens models, Flag variants, Enact variants, Hellion, Alvatore/Alvaaron, 0 Gundam, GN-X III, and even a scratch-built 00 show up in the Gundam 00 Archive yet no model exists for it or none was produced at the time the book went to print. This is a Dengeki Hobby book. They will scratch-build it if they must. Also, I won't put too much thought into "Archive". That's just marketing. Quote
Graham Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 btw. Do you know some other shops than HLJ, that sell books from Macross and Gundam? I usually order books from Amazon Japan or HMV Japan. Quote

mike_s_6 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Wow...looking at that blog post, I have to say that Megumi Nakajima's really getting good at custom Valkyrie paint jobs! Whoa, did she do that herself, or just the design? Also... TRANS-AM Sorry, couldn't help. Quote
Zinjo Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Whoa, did she do that herself, or just the design? Also... TRANS-AM Sorry, couldn't help. My guess would be the design. How many women singers do you know of who can build kits? Quote
Gubaba Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 My guess would be the design. How many women singers do you know of who can build kits? I could easily be mistaken, but I think this is the second one she's done. The first one was a while ago, and she DID do it herself. There was some kind of contest where you could make your own custom VF-25 and send pics of it to Megumi. She'd choose the one she liked, and then meet with you. You'd give her your Valk, and she'd give you hers. So maybe...this isn't one that she built...maybe it's the one she chose...? I dunno. Quote
Graham Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Based on articles in the hobby mags, I'm also pretty sure it's the second custom she's done. Graham Quote

wm cheng Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Thanks! so how much does it weigh? Too bad I can't read Japanese with the Amazon.jp site (I'd prefer a bigger store). Quote
veffidas Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Thanks! so how much does it weigh? Too bad I can't read Japanese with the Amazon.jp site (I'd prefer a bigger store). There's no weight listed, but it's 96 pages. FYI, there's a "Click here to see in English" link in the top right area above the purchase link. You can go through the checkout process in English as well to see how much it'd cost. Quote
azrael Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Gundam 00 Archives is 166 pages at 620g. I would guess at 96 pages, MF Archives would probably come around 500g-mark. Quote

azrael Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Are both of these the ISBN number, or are there two seperate items? Both are the ISBN numbers for the same product. Most books are published with the ISBN-13 number. The ISBN-10 is an older standard but still used in publishing. For more information about ISBN-10 and ISBN-13. Quote

Graham Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Just picked up my copy in the ground floor Japanese magazine shop in Sino Center for HK$258. The first 60 or so pages are mostly mecha porn photos of the completed model kits, with a few pages of building tips, some pics of the character decal sheets and a two page text article. The last 30 pages are mostly black and white lineart and a few pages of color CG art. The black and white lineart is the same as previously published in various issues of Hobby Japan, but a bit bigger and clearer. The lineart is mostly of the Super Parts, Armour Parts and some areas of the VF-25, such as the landing gear, folded nose cone, wing root guns, feet etc. Nothing new, but worth having if you didn't get all the relevant HJ issues. The CG mecha art is the same as in other Frontier books. There is also a 4 page color guide for the VF-25 with some nice side view color line art of the various VF-25. Overall, worth having if you don't buy the hobby mags, but there's nothing really new for those that do. The painted model kit pics are new and nice, but the hobby mags also have plenty of photos of the completed kits. Graham Quote

mitch Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 I picked up a copy a few days ago (the going rate at Anime Expo was about $32). I've had a chance to flick through it a couple of times and there's some really nice stuff (like Graham said, mostly kit work, but obviously professionally done to bring out the best in them). The line-art is good to see, but by no means completely encyclopedic. My personal favorite was seeing the Alto and Ozma customs done up with Sheryl and Cathy designs respectively (with Cathy looking SMOKING HOT!! Giggidy giggidy giggidy goo!!!) in a kind of Minmay Guard-esque homage. I prefer the styling of the old MG scheme, but nicely done none the less. As much as I would personally like to see something more akin to the Shoji Kawamori Design works, so much mechanical rendering is done digitally now that there may just be less 2D reference produced, so I guess this is the next best thing, especially since a majority of publications (Macross Chronicles excluded) have focused almost entirely on the human/zentraedi characters. Hopefully we'll get some different MF valks in kit and DX form someday and see some more books featuring them. Quote
