Phyrox
I don't really read much sci-fi, so don't think I can help there, but on that advert, you gotta clear up the light pixels around the distant ship and the spiral. The ones that come from copying something from a light background and pasting it onto a dark one. That looks sorta dodgy and although says nothing about the quality of the writing or story, people might take the slapdash nature of that presentation as indicative of the larger work. Some of the same issues on the site. Good luck.
Knight26
Thanks Phyrox, guess that is what happens when I do it in Visio at work, will have to clean it up in Photoshop later and replace it. Glad that it didn't do that on the actual book cover at least. Edited May 27, 2009 by Knight26

Note 2: the website is currently a WIP and should be up and fully running soon, sorry for any convience. I definitely want to help out, what with your son and all. I'm going to wait for the hard copy, I think. Out of curiosity, it seems that with stuff like the Kindle and Amazon's CreateSpace that it's becoming easier to self-publish. How's your experience been? I've been out of work for awhile, and I've been thinking about writing to kill time and maybe even bring in a little spending money. Knight26
It is really good actually, if your stuff is ready to go and well editted then the biggest hassle is just the marketting. I would recommend that with create space that you shell out the $40.00 to get the premium package, it gets you more in royalties then the standard package and allows you to sell at a lower price, which I may do depending on the response. And with Kindle it is an automatic 35% of list price no matter what they sell it at, so if your list price is $10 you are garunteed $3.50 even if they sell the book for less, which they are doing right now. I've actually already sold 3 kindle copies so far. Right now I am just waiting on my proof copy to approve it and then the hard copy will go on sale. Also another nice thing is that if I buy copies to sell myself, I buy them at a far reduced and can sell them at list or less and basically take home the rest as profit. jenius
Congratulations and good luck to you. If I manage some free time I'll be sure to pick up a copy.
Knight26
It "should" be up for sale by this weekend, providing of course that I get my proof copy then, right now the kindle version is available. I will update when the hard copy is up.

Vostok 7
I always wanted to write my own book. I've always got plot lines running through my head constantly. I just never get them down. I need a notepad or something with me constantly. Vostok
Knight26
I fixed the "ad poster" in the first post. V7 I still carry a small notebook all the time for when I get story ideas, that or a little voice recorder are great for just putting down ideas. Also once I find out how long it takes them to ship the book(s) I will start taking preorders for Macrossworld-Con, that way I will have a drop dead date on preorders so I can make sure I have enough in hand for the convention. I will of course sign any sold at the convention. Edited May 28, 2009 by Knight26
Knight26
The website is back up and running, though I may change the general template a bit later. Be sure to take a look and leave some feedback, it is still a work in progress so any feedback is appreciated. I've also posted a preview of the book up in the book section, click on the cover to read it. My proof copy of the book shipped on thursday, I hope to have it in hand by the 2nd of June at the latest, at which point, the hard copy of the book should go live. Knight26
My wife just called to let me know that the proof copy was just delivered. I will inspect it tonight, and if it all looks good will approve it for sale. Well I noticed an error on the back cover, my fault, fixed and resubmitted it, should be ready in a couple of days then. Knight26
I am still planning to attend MWCon on the 18th (can only attend one day, Owen sees one of his specialists on the 19th) and will be bringing the following, assuming they arrive in time: 20 Hardcopies of the book to sign and sell 25 Con Disks, these will include all e-reader formats of the book as well as the technical articles from the website (including those that I have not yet had a chance to post), ship registry files (kind of like a Janes book), Dossiers on the main characters, artwork, and a few other surprise extras. I will be putting together artwork for this disks this weekend and will post it prior to the con to get everyone's opinion. Best of all, I will be signing and selling these at a lesser price then the hardcopy, considering all the extras included it will be a great deal. Knight26
Well it looks like I won't be go to MWCon. The package of my books that was the linchpin of my attendance did not arrive today, unless it appears first thing tomorrow then I won't be going. I doubt that anyone will care if I just bring "con disks," which have the book electronically, with some tech articles, dossiers, and other surprises. My son is really the one who loses out though, all funds would go to his care.
