rdenham Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Could someone scan and post the three pages from the June 2009 Model Graphix which show a model of a F-111B model in the colors of VF-84? Although the F-111B would have been a horrible choice for the USN; this glimpse at what it would have looked like in “Jolly Roger” colors is really cool. Quote
rdenham Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 Thank you for the pics, were did you get them? Quote
Graham Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Back when I was a kid in school in the 80s', we used to have F-111s and EF-111s fly over our school every day. Can't remember which US airbase in the UK they were flying from, but I used to think it was very cool. Graham Quote
Evil Porkchop Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 My guess would be Lakenheath, I believe a squadron of US F-111's was stationed there in the 70's/80's. Quote
505thAirborne Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I like the F-111 design and all, but the Jolly Roger paint scheme just doesn't match well, Its looks better as an all Gray or Woodland camouflage scheme. At the Van Nuys Airshow ages ago, there were 3 of the babies on Display. 2 Woodland and one all black, super awesome, Wish I still have the pictures!! Quote
F-ZeroOne Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Seems obvious now I think of it, but though I'd read the F-111B was a naval variant for the interception role I'd never considered that would mean it would need a different radome...! Quote
F-ZeroOne Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Yes, my first thought was "Thats not a very good model of a F-14!"... Quote
