Vostok 7 Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Was looking through picts from the latest show and saw these from Yamato: from Hobby Stock Interesting! Though I'd much prefer the power suit from the Anime. Vostok 7 Quote
dizman Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Why oh why did it have to be the one from the movie, easy pass for me unless it's 1/60 scale. Quote
Vostok 7 Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 Why oh why did it have to be the one from the movie, easy pass for me unless it's 1/60 scale. Who knows, maybe they'll expand the line? The Starship Troopers series must be really popular in Japan, I'm surprised they'd make a figure like this from a straight to DVD movie. Vostok 7 Quote
Wanzerfan Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 (edited) ... ... The freaking thing lacks the ape snout and the Y-Rack on the back. _-|-- Damned thing's also as big as a Triax X-1000 Ulti-Max. All the Yamato needs to make it complete is the freaking Wave Motion Gun. Edited May 15, 2009 by Wanzerfan Quote
Knight26 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Why did it have to be the movie versions, they suck. Quote
505thAirborne Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 The Roger Young looks awesome, always wanted that one! Quote
Ginrai Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 The Starship Troopers series must be really popular in Japan, I'm surprised they'd make a figure like this from a straight to DVD movie. Well I mean, the US trilogy boxset has a toy of it. Quote
sharky Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I'm always a fan of large spaceships. I'm glad to see that Yamato is doing it. Quote
Graham Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 LOL, that has to be the most butt ugly, sorry-assed excuse for a powered armour I've ever had the misfortune to lay eyes on. Agreed, would prefer the 80's anime OVA design. Also, I've been trying to persuade Yamato for years to make a toy of the powered suit from MADOX.....now that is a cool design. Quote
Vifam7 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Studio Nue (or rather Miyatake's) Powered Suit design was soooo much better. As was the design of the Roger Young. Anyone got a pic of the ship from the anime? Quote
edwin3060 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I didn't know that starship troopers had a following in Japan! Quote

The MADOX-01 is my absolute favorite powered suit Quote
Save Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 The power suit was originally made for the Special Starship Troopers 3 JP DVD box. Yamato must have been approached to make it since that was sometime last year. As far as I know Starship Troopers doesn't have any following. Quote
VF5SS Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 The book is a huge influence on real robot sci-fi in Japan. Even Noburo Ishiguro seemed to regard Robert Heinlein with respect in his interview with Anime World Order. Quote
EXO Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Yes please!!!! The MADOX-01 is my absolute favorite powered suit Make that 3 for MADOX... Graham if you convince them, make sure it's 1/12 scale with a good articulated Kouji figure. With sushi and chopstix!!! Quote
Uxi Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I love that ship and would get it. Not so much interested in the DVD power armor, though. Quote
ShadowerV2 Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 For a moment there I thought they would make figs from the Anime. But from the movie. Holy cow Yamato what were you thinking? Quote
wolfx Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 What....u mean there is a Starship Troopers 3 and it has powered suits? But gah that's one ugly powered suit. Quote
Twoducks Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Make that 3 for MADOX... Graham if you convince them, make sure it's 1/12 scale with a good articulated Kouji figure. With sushi and chopstix!!! Four votes for Madox!! The story was crappy but the design was seven flavors of awesome. Quote
Retracting Head Ter Ter Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I am buying that ship! Always dig sci-fi cap ships. Wish they would make more of em! Whats the price?!?!? It doesn't show on the card!!! That armour reminds me of the butt ugly FASA Classic Battletech designs. Quote
RavenHawk Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Four votes for Madox!! The story was crappy but the design was seven flavors of awesome. I think we need a Maddox DVD release before we can expect any toys. Quote
RavenHawk Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 (edited) Animeigo DVD Wow, thanks! I actually searched for this not too long ago, and couldn't find it. I just assumed it had somehow never been released on DVD. Thanks! Ok, bring on the toys!!! EDIT: Rightstuf has it for $7 Edited May 18, 2009 by RavenHawk Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I always forget about Rightstuf!!! Glad I could help. Check this OVA, it's pure 80's mecha porn, it's not the end of all be but very entertaining nonetheless Quote
Lynx7725 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I love that ship and would get it. Not so much interested in the DVD power armor, though. Y'know, as much as I like the ship design, every time I look at that pic I see a banana-shaped ship. It's like the front and rear are so heavy that it's bending down around the middle. Anyone has that feeling? Not to mention, the thruster design literally looks like someone shoved the engine section up the ship's stern. Quote
kung flu Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I kind of liked the first movie, the second was really crap and i've not seen the third one. The ships were pretty cool i thought and so were the other space crafts from the movie. Oh and it had Denise Richards in it Quote
