the white drew carey Posted December 17, 2003 Author Posted December 17, 2003 Uminoken- Are you a University Student? If so, your school's tech store usually has the "Educational License" version of Photoshop for much cheaper (usually around $150-$200). The educational license version is the same software, just much cheaper for students.

the white drew carey Posted December 24, 2003 Author Posted December 24, 2003 Damn good work, Hellohikaru!!! Just to spite you, I'm going to criticize something (also because I'm jealous that the student has surpassed the master [so to say]): Your "CVN-66 America" marking should be altered using distort and perspective to make it seem more like it is a marking on the rounded section.
Chaser617 Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 Wow, that is wonderful, and the THunderbolt really does look quite good in the Starfighter's colors.
hellohikaru Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 (edited) Thanks all @Jeff Thanks for the tip...yeah that area with the America CVN is in need of a bit of distortion(will try). And you are STILL the master i have much to learn..yes. Edited December 28, 2003 by hellohikaru
the white drew carey Posted December 30, 2003 Author Posted December 30, 2003 My bro-in-law finally was able to grab all of the files from my old hard drive (it was a PC, it crashed a lot and then died... normal PC behavior) and a lot of my artwork I thought was lost has now been found again. Included was the first color scheme I ever did, probably around late 2001/early 2002. The idea was to use WWII paintschemes on VF-1's. This one was based on an Me-109. It really stinks compared to what can be accomplished now, but for nostalgia value, it's still pretty cool.

hellohikaru Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 (edited) Jeff Is this what u r lookin for ?I found it some time ago in the old boards. Too bad i can't find any for J and S types. Edited January 9, 2004 by hellohikaru
the white drew carey Posted January 9, 2004 Author Posted January 9, 2004 Hey, thanks alot! I'll see if I can make some -J and -S ones out of it.
the white drew carey Posted January 9, 2004 Author Posted January 9, 2004 Hmmm... is it me, or is the slight downward angle of the lower leg wrong in that picture. I always thought it was straight back.
Ruak Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 nah. that looks right. when i first noticed it. i was irritated too. but, it looks right. by the way. you guys are doing a great job. love the color schemes, i love to see new and great lookins squads.
hellohikaru Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Hmmm... is it me, or is the slight downward angle of the lower leg wrong in that picture. I always thought it was straight back. Hasegawa detail vs canon material i guess. If you look at the instruction sheet you see the decals are slightly tilted as well. I prefer the original lineart than the Hase one so looks like its tracing all over again.
the white drew carey Posted January 10, 2004 Author Posted January 10, 2004 Well, I've fiddled around with it. Right or wrong, I moved the leg into something that looks more "correct" to me. I've also added in some little details that were missing. This is what I've done so far, this includes weathering, shading and most of the "decals". I'm still deciding on what I want to do with pilot, cockpit and canopy- but that's not vitally important. I'll probably also refine the shading on my template as things go along. But basically, all I have to do now is throw on a multiply layer and add colors. Yee-haw. I should have my first color scheme with this new stup done soon.
Jedi Knight Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 TWDC, that plain white VF-1A actually looks pretty cool without any extra colors, especially with your great shading and weathering.

Macross_Fanboy Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 That's awesome. I love you photoshop pros!
hellohikaru Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 wow.....that looks simply awesome TWDC. Maybe i am feeling lazy here but Is it possible to have the PSD files(shades, weathering, decals) minus the colors available for download ?
brainiac_08 Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Good Lord, that is wrong!"What do you plan to do!?!" "BLIND THEM TO DEATH!!!" ha ha by the way I got it here: Miscellaneous blanks there are also more than that
hellohikaru Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Here is one of my favourite squadrons from VFX-2. A little background info: SVF-41 is a veteran VF-11 squadron recently upgraded to the new VF-11C-Kai standard. Due to the squadron often deployed for operation in atmospheric enviroments the low-vis scheme was adopted for some of its fighters. The unit deploys aboard the B.J.Gloval.
the white drew carey Posted January 13, 2004 Author Posted January 13, 2004 Hey Garoquel- That's pretty nifty! Hellohikaru- No problem on the shading/panel lines. I'll send them to you. Just PM me with an e-mail addy. P.S.- I'm not sending you my 'decal' layer, though. That's all mine!!! Bwah-hahahaha!!!
the white drew carey Posted January 15, 2004 Author Posted January 15, 2004 This is fun!!! It also makes good Photoshop practice!
hellohikaru Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 I felt my prev Black Aces was rather bland so i added some more decals.
hellohikaru Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Why not have the full-color version yes ?! Hope you guys enjoy this one.
