Talos Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 While working on finishing the profiles of several VF-19s, I got in the mood to do more markings, so we have two squadrons of VF-4s tonight, SVF-302 Stallions, a reserve squadron, and the CAG, CO, XO, and line birds of SVF-213 Black Lions.
Thai Boxer 9901 Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Would someone be willing to do some VF-1's and VF-4's in Air Force markings? Heres what I had in mind: 366th Operations Group (Tail code: "MO") 389th Fighter Squadron 390th Fighter Squadron 391st Fighter Squadron 428th Fighter Squadron

Mr March Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Astounding. I love how each of your colors schemes are different. You mix it up well. Good work! The "HelloKitty" by HelloHikaru...very Macross 7-ish (gags) Just kidding. Nice work hh. I'm saving all of these.
hellohikaru Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Thanks. Glad you like them! Here is another scary one...
Mr March Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Yeah, I like them very much. They are all going in the "For Fans Only" section in the next update of my website. This newest one is hilarious. That face is somehow very fitting for the VA-3
hellohikaru Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 The last one as Talos put it resembled the Angler fish..hmm. Here is another couple more i did today.
Mr March Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I just have to quote Robot Chicken Season 1 "Now, let's say you vant to take out da GI Joe..." Nice work.
hellohikaru Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 (edited) I just have to quote Robot Chicken Season 1 "Now, let's say you vant to take out da GI Joe..." Nice work. Mr March Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 I really like that gunship grey. Pure awesome sauce
hellohikaru Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 I really like that gunship grey. Pure awesome sauce Thanks. It was based on the F-15E Strike Eagle scheme
SchizophrenicMC Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Out of boredom, I've screwed around with this VF-171 I jacked from March's site and made it look awesome... Better than the turquoise/teal, depending on the light it's in, scheme.
hellohikaru Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Just a typical fleet VE-3 Howler..not really colorful
SchizophrenicMC Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Just a typical fleet VE-3 Howler..not really colorful Nice.
Mr March Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 SchizophrenicMC Ah, interesting. Reminds me a bit of the original VF-17 colors, but lighter. hellohikaru Looks much like the "playboys" scheme.
hellohikaru Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 SchizophrenicMC Ah, interesting. Reminds me a bit of the original VF-17 colors, but lighter. hellohikaru Looks much like the "playboys" scheme. Thanks..Yea thats because the base is the same for most of the fleet units.
SchizophrenicMC Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 SchizophrenicMC Ah, interesting. Reminds me a bit of the original VF-17 colors, but lighter. hellohikaru Looks much like the "playboys" scheme. Yeah, I was trying to match the new grey to the native grey. Also, I like the yellow that Skull-1 carried on his tail-tips and across the forward fuselage.. And red is ALWAYS a good choice. I may end up doing a VF-17 scheme now.
Mr March Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Well, I've recently color corrected my VF-17 Nightmare pictures so they better represent the anime. If you need some up to date reference (since my next update is still pending), then I'll post it here for you.
SchizophrenicMC Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 (edited) Well, I've recently color corrected my VF-17 Nightmare pictures so they better represent the anime. If you need some up to date reference (since my next update is still pending), then I'll post it here for you. So, there's more blue in that dark grey than red... It is no problem. I will begin the workings soon. However, a problem arises: how to make the letters remain white, not dark grey. That's a secondary concern, though. TIME TO BEGIN! EDIT: I should really put a guarantee on my work. "5 hours or less or it's free!" Edited August 18, 2009 by SchizophrenicMC

SchizophrenicMC Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Yeah, I'm with Whateverburger. I like, really, about everything you've posted thus far, hellohikaru.
Mr March Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 SchizophrenicMC WOW! That looks fantastic! Very slick! I'm impressed. hellohikaru Nice work. I really like the tail art of the Black Ravens.

I really like the tail art of the Black Ravens. Thanks, really, but I could've done better. I just don't know how to replace a dark grey stripe with an equally shaded "White" stripe.
hellohikaru Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Thanks for the comments and views as usual. One scheme tonight, VAQ-130 Custom
SchizophrenicMC Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Thanks for the comments and views as usual. One scheme tonight, VAQ-130 Custom Lovin' the desert camo. Also, envying the desert camo. I'm making a custom for a friend and I suck at the camo...
hellohikaru Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Lovin' the desert camo. Also, envying the desert camo. I'm making a custom for a friend and I suck at the camo... Thanks. Just needs bags of patience and working the pen tool.
SchizophrenicMC Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Thanks. Just needs bags of patience and working the pen tool. And skill. Don't forget skill. And that is the missing piece of the puzzle.
Talos Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Thanks. Just needs bags of patience and working the pen tool. ...you're using the pen tool? O_o Dude, use the paths tool! Outline your camo, select, feather 10px or so, then cut to the object shape you need. It's simple and clean and takes almost no time once you have the patterns set. I made some tutorial images on What If in Logan's thread, you should check them out and ask me on MSN later. As an example, three of my old TSR-2s that use exactly that for their camo. Schizo, skill isn't the missing piece. Just more patience is!
SchizophrenicMC Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Schizo, skill isn't the missing piece. Just more patience is! No, I'm pretty patient. I lack skill, and maybe method. My method is off.
Talos Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 No, I'm pretty patient. I lack skill, and maybe method. My method is off. Practice is all you need, which brings patience with it too. You're doing pretty well on recoloring those linearts, so try experimenting and see what you come up with. That's how I figured out half the things I do now.
hellohikaru Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the tips Talos. I need to practice more camo.. EDIT Had to withdraw my earlier Howlers because i left something out and had to fix it..xd Edited August 20, 2009 by hellohikaru
Mr March Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 SchizophrenicMC Well, I guess I'm easily impressed because I like it. Don't be too hard on yourself either, that picture of the VF-171 Nightmare Plus on my website is rather lousy picture (it's like first generation pic from way back before Macross Frontier started). So it's not like you've got something great to begin work with hellohikaru I love it! Wonderful scheme and very different from the others. Once again you've outdone yourself. But now I have to download your two white and grey Howlers now Talos Ah, some new real world aircraft. Very nicely done. I like the brown and grey one.
