Wolfman Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Hellohikaru, your UN Navy VF-96 CAG Bird's tail markings are inaccurate. Also, is the SVX-9 Vampires VF-11 your handiwork?
hellohikaru Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 (edited) Hellohikaru, your UN Navy VF-96 CAG Bird's tail markings are inaccurate. Also, is the SVX-9 Vampires VF-11 your handiwork? Hi, my VF-96 is re imagined to better fit the tail fin of the VF-11. I think it looks more modern/sleeker that way. I did however do a VF-96 just like the one you posted somewhere in this thread. Me thinks it look weird because it is design to fit the shape of the Phantom's large tail fin..those are perfect for any logo they can come up with. The Vampire is my very first scheme using the Nied template..based on a photo suggested by Fatalist...i am sure they look dated now. And as usual some new schemes to keep this thread alive including some different ones to give more variety. At this point i think i am done with VF-11..now working on the AIF-1B Ghost from VF-X-2. mechaninac Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 (edited) Seeing all these VF-11 renditions makes me giddy with anticipation for Yamato's eventual -- one can hope -- 1/60-ish VF-11B. Just as the 1/48 VF-1, and maybe even more so, the Thunderbolt will be such perfect fodder for customizes to paint in myriad liveries that I can't wait. I specially like the grey toned US Air force inspired ones, and I'm sure Soviet Maskirovka would look fantastic on this VF also. Edited December 21, 2007 by mechaninac

Thanks for the explanation, although I think the old scheme works just as well, you're the artist, so it's your call. Most of those look pretty good, except the original RN aircraft, which suck.
Fatalist Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I think they look great, and I too cannot wait for the VF-11 to show its mug. I would most deffinately do up a VX-9, and my rendition of a Skull Squad for sure.

Could I still make VF-11 requests, hellohikaru?
hellohikaru Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Could I still make VF-11 requests, hellohikaru? I am currently handling 2 request for other MWers and uploading leftover profiles from last year. You are always free to suggest though. A multi layered template will be uploaded in a few hours time for those interested in making their own schemes. For now some new and updated profiles. I know the VF-11 is getting a bit boring now
Mr March Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Aha! Finally putting the top schematic I gave you to good use. I like
Crazy Canuck II Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Some of you old timers may remember these color schemes. I made them around 5 years ago and posted them back on the old MW boards. They were lost for quite a while, but when I was visiting family over the holidays I was able to dig up a backup disk that contained a bunch of old MW stuff. I don't have anywhere to host these so hopefully it will be ok if I just attach them. If this is a problem someone let me know and I'll remove them.
Mr March Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I remember those! Very nice work. Someone like that guy who operates the Macross Mecha Manual should offer to host these pictures on his website. Hopefully he sees this thread
Crazy Canuck II Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 (edited) Well he is welcome to them as is anyone else who may want to host them. Edited January 7, 2008 by Crazy Canuck II
Hurin Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Bless you! I now have a local copy so I'll never need to pester you again. I'd offer to put them up on MN. . . but we may be shutting that down soon. But, if they ever disappear from this thread, I'm sure I could find some room for them somewhere on some site. Best, H

I remember coloring up a few back in the day.

Fatalist Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Theres that nice new Alaskan Arctic Camo theme too that was recently done on some F-16's that I think would look sweet.
Thai Boxer 9901 Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I think it would be awesome if someone could dig up some VF-25 lineart! Im so obsessed with this design right now because it looks so awesome in all 3 modes.
hellohikaru Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Well, whenever you get the time, a Thunderbolt in the colors of the Red Rippers would be nice. Which version is best ? Cant be Vietnam or 80s right. I wished they had more colorful markings. Might be hard to decide. Theres that nice new Alaskan Arctic Camo theme too that was recently done on some F-16's that I think would look sweet. Seen it. Still looking for the right color shades.

Still looking for the right color shades. Your choice, both lo-viz and hi-viz versions. Also, please check the finished products' canopies, I've noticed that they're yellower than they ought to be. hellohikaru Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I missed that thread completely..went to F-16.net to hunt them. So it is really dark gray, medium gray and the std low-vis gray..might look cool on a VB-6

Mr March Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) Well, maybe it's not as much a crowd pleaser as a VF-11, but here's my VF-5000B Arctic Camouflage fighter: ***EDIT***: A few coloring corrections made to the drawing. Edited January 10, 2008 by Mr March
Mr March Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) Wolfman Yeah, yeah, yeah, hold on to your shorts. VF-5000 goodness of all kinds will be in the next update Fatalist Hehehe, mission accomplished! Glad you like it. Edited January 10, 2008 by Mr March

Mr March Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Great work hh! Your template sure is interesting. It's very detailed and systematic. It makes it quite easy to change all kinds of things quickly. How do the gradients work?
hellohikaru Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Hi MM, Hope to see some schemes from you As for the gradients they are simplified and should be set to multiply. The first 2 pages of this thread had a tutorial by TWDC dealing with the how-to's.
Wolfman Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Wolfman Yeah, yeah, yeah, hold on to your shorts. VF-5000 goodness of all kinds will be in the next update Speaking of which, when do you plan on updating?
Mr March Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 I am hoping to get an update out this month. There may be a concern with the server and I might have to wait till next month, but we'll see. The actual content of the update is already done (40+ profiles completed) but there is also a bunch of other website work that needs to be completed for the next update that is about 90% done. It's gonna be great!
