Radd Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I've got 17-18 Yamato toys right now, though my old 1/72 VF-11 and YF-21 have been relegated to the closet to make room for the 1/60 Macross Plus toys. My 1/60 v.1 Elintseeker and Super Ostrich will join them when the v.2s come out. The entire run of Bandai 1/55 and 1/65 rereleases from around 2004, which is 9 more Valkyries. One of the larger Matchbox Spartans, and four of the smaller destroids. Two Defenders and two Tomahawks. A 1/100 Toynami VF-1A. A 1/100 VF-19 Bandai snap together kit. And two of the 1/60 Bandai DX Frontier toys, with Mikhail and Ruca on the way. I've also got the new VF-11 ordered. Probably going to order a Yamato Defender soon. Love the Destroid toys. Quote
kanedaestes Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Oh yeah forgot my Yamato Macross Plus valks from back in the day, I have the VF-11B, YF-21 FP, and YF-19 VFX 2 variant. Quote
Spiff Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Not to brag but I probly have over 100 pieces from big to small. It would take me a few days to go through them all and compile a list. Which I have thought of doing but it is just so daunting to me that I never have. My point is just this for all those of you who feel you have a small collection dont despair. I have been collecting Macross toys since 1986. Many of you are younger and will come into your own. Again I am not bragging, just dont lose sight of where you are in life in comparison to others collections. I am actually at a point now where I have decided I have too much and am working on thining down the herd to a more managable size. Too much of a good thing perhaps. Quote

There's a guy on TD, who regards the "VF-1J Stealth Type" + "SSP Stealth Type" and "SS VF-1J Stealth Type DX set" as different models. He gets all the weathered 1/60 destroids too. D_Unit Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Just over 50 of various types, genres, and sizes. Most are in my diorama and a few others are displayed with my Transformers. Funny thing is, my Macross toys have the biggest diorama even though I have close to 800 Transformers. I spent some time and made room for future additions, but I'm gonna run out of space eventually. I'd display mine if it wasn't in various places, and if I could actually get into my office. The toys are all in the way. Thanks. I realized early on that I wasn't collecting to impress anyone. I have a huge love for these toys (more like works of art), and I try to treat each one of them with care and a place all its own. Great job, you guys! Now everytime I feel guilty about spending on a Macross toy, I can come to this thread and feel better about myself! Don't feel guilty about spending money on something you're passionate about (within reason that is). As long as you're collecting out of love (OK, that sounds a bit too much) and not for bragging rights, your soul will always feel full. Quote
Repiv_Onex Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Not every Macross toy is a Yamato toy.... If only the old thread title could be changed, I just think it's a waste to "sink" that old thread, and to prevent similar thread from "flooding", or else tomorrow there maybe "How many non-yamato Macross toys do you have" thread, a "How many super-deformed Macross toys do u have" thread the day after next and a "How many old-school Macross toys do u have" thread. Well, I think talked too much rot. Quote

Actually, I am selling 1 1/48s (Super Strike) and 2 1/60s. I am selling the MPCs, extra 25th Joes, other anime stuff like and extra TF MPs I have 3 monsters as I sold 3 in the past and likely sell 1 more for a right price. 1/60v2 dont impress me. Yes I bought 1 and will likely buy a few like the VF-1S Max as my 1/60 Milla Qrau is lonely. And I will get 2 seaters like the VF-1D, VT-1 Ostrich, VE-1 Funny Chinese and the virgin road but I wont go crazy like I did with my 1/48s. I have at least 120 of the 1/48s. I need to update the siggy as I got 2 vf-1A tv max. Debating on getting 1 or 2 VF-1A TV Kakazaki. Quote

MacrossMan Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Godzila, do you preffer the vf-1 1/48 over the 1/60?? Pls tell us your comments on that, the why, and rest... From what I have been reading about what others have been saying about their 1/48 collection is that it is the sheer size of the 1/48. They have a certain presence that the new 1/60's, regardless of how nice the sculpt is with all its fixes, just can't compare to. Quote

Godzilla Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 (edited) Godzila, do you preffer the vf-1 1/48 over the 1/60?? Pls tell us your comments on that, the why, and rest... I assume you are talking about 1/60v2 that is now coming out. If so, I will continue with that assumption. I prefer the 1/48 because in my eye it is perfect (as SGT Slaughter said in the 1986 GIJOE movie) hands down. When I first saw it, I already had the 1/60v1 and said those were expensive and proceeded to get the 1/60s. Then the low vis 1/48 came out. I was completely in awe and said if I were to get a 1/48 this would be the one. That decision proved costly as I got me 10 of those damn LVs cost me avg $140 per LV where I paid highest $275 and lowest $100. Then it went down hill from there. As for the 1/60v2, I bought 2 Strike VF-1S Roy in which one was for me and one was for a friend. I admit they nice, it does not have the same appeal as the 1/48. I dont know why, but they seem to be to "rounded". Let me explain further: the 1/48 appeal to me seems to be more realistic. What do I mean "realistic"? To the anime realistic? The answer is no. I mean realistic to the real world of today as placing beside it against the warplanes of today say the F-14 Tomcat. 1/60v2 has the anime feeling (too bubbly look I guess?) but the appeal is not there. I mean that is good they try to make it anime compliant but the 1/48 been stuck with me since 2003. However, the big downer was the 1/60 having the shoulder tab break/crack. I didnt give it a 2nd thought till my friend called me up and said it was broken and to check mine. I did and thankfully it didnt (yet). The pisser would be that had I chosen the box that had the valk broken, it would piss me off and completely have me sticking to the 1/48s. Still I am a bit apprehensive on picking up the 1/60v2 but since the 2 seaters are only for the 1/60v2, I will pick up the 2 seaters. I am more annoyed than happy about it. If they did it for the 1/48, I would only buy the 1/60v2 VF-1S Max period and preserve my 1/48 collection. The 1/60 has quality issues especially the shoulder tabs despite assurances from Yamato and the members here say it is only limited. I dont understand that ppl say the 1/48 has QC issues since the paint is off, smudged, etc but yet fanboys here on the boards (yes I calling you 1/60v2 fanboys) says the 1/60v2 is perfect. I have yet to have structural integrity breached on a 1/48 and let me tell you I own a lot of them. I opened a lot them to inspect them and to me, hands down, the 1/48 is just rock solid. You can agree or disagree. It is my preference. Now if they released the 1/60v2 earlier as their true toy, I think I would have limited myself on the 1/48s. I guess it is in all the timing. EDIT: I added more since I feel it needed more explaining. Edited March 24, 2009 by Godzilla Quote
