Twoducks Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 First they made the goofy almost spandex like armor of the comics look like a real suit of hi-tech awesome armor and now they top that making the cheesy suitcase armor work in the real world. Bravo people, you have my money. Quote
Ghost Train Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 If we can just swap in ANY black guy (which seems to be the case) how about Eddie Murphy? No... it should be Charlie Murphy Quote
CoryHolmes Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Bravo people, you have my money. They had MY money with the stinger from the first teaser: *Iron Army drops in, Iron Man and War Machine back-to-back* CLUNK! CLUNK! *helmets drop into place* *cue awesomeness* Quote
miles316 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 My theory is that Whiplash sold the plans for his recreated reactor to anyone with money. Add to that with the Iron Monger blueprints undoubtaly on file somewhere... I gathered from the resent trailer Tony beats Whiplash at the Race track and is arrested and Hammer arranges for Bail or something Dushbagery and offers to develop a suit in exchange for the reactor blue prints. I know! This'll teach me to make mindless speculations based on two minutes of footage! Quote

azrael Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Well, they're coming in... "Iron Man 2" isn't as much fun as its predecessor, but by the time the smoke clears, it'll do. (Variety) It may be hard for anyone to claim that "Iron Man 2" is nearly as mindblowingly amazing as the first movie was for its time, though it's still better than 95% of the movies based on Marvel Comics characters. (ComingSoon.net) In its place, "Iron Man 2" has substituted noise, confusion, multiple villains, irrelevant stunts and misguided story lines. (Hollywood Reporter) Rourke and Rockwell make satisfying, complementary villains, while Downey Jr. delivers again. Shame this sequel feels inessential, over-busy and a little, well, mechanical. Nothing they can’t put right for Iron Man 3. (Empire) Tomatometer Watch: Will Iron Man 2 Blast Off With Critics? (Rotten Tomatoes.com) BTW, it premiered overseas first before it premieres in the USA. Valkyrie Nut Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I'll avoid reading those for now, off to an advance showing tomorrow so will give my personal opinion later. Quote
eriku Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I think I'll avoid any reviews this time until after I watch it. Although the last time I did that was with Clash of the Titans, and a few reviews would have handily saved me from seeing that steaming pile. Quote
Mr March Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Iron Man 2 should be exactly what we expect from a standard sequel, only with the same advantages that distinguished the first film from lesser competitors. I can understand critics being underwhelmed by more of the same, even if the sequel is well accomplished in its familiarity. Personally, I think IM2 looks worth a shot, but I'd like to believe my expectations are on the level for the sequel. Quote
Grand Admiral Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 First they made the goofy almost spandex like armor of the comics look like a real suit of hi-tech awesome armor I know you're talking about the old school look, but the movie armor is based heavily on the Extremis armor from the comics. They even hired Adi Granov as a conceptual artist for the first movie. Extremis is a pretty good story, too. I recommend picking up the trade paperback if you're interested. Quote

Eh... as a long-time Iron Man fan, I can't stand Granov's overly digital painted art, the overall suit style, or the Extremis story. It made Stark one big Macguffin for too long. Quote
Uxi Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 movie Stark acts a bit too.... Bruce Wayne for me and isn't as... Howard Hughes'ish as he should be, but hopefully he'll get there. Quote
cool8or Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I'm a great fan of IronMan, I have its comics books even before I learn to read! So I'm very excited about this movie, I expect to wach it on monday (here in Chile, the premiere is today) Quote
BeyondTheGrave Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Eh... as a long-time Iron Man fan, I can't stand Granov's overly digital painted art, the overall suit style, or the Extremis story. It made Stark one big Macguffin for too long. The extremis story was good. It made Stark think about how far is too far. I think them taking the the extremis abilities away and moving back to him reliant upon the arc reactor in his chest was stupid. Personally I don't like the Ultimate Iron Man armor. Quote
Valkyrie Nut Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Well I have to say Iron Man 2 was a very good film. There's more dialogue than in the first and it does get a bit hectic at times in regards to the plot but it doesn't ruin the enjoyment factor Quote
azrael Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Wait it's out already? Overseas? Yes, sorta. In the USA? Next week (May 7th). Quote

areaseven Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Nothing in the Marvel Universe can top the first Iron Man movie, but this one is pretty close. It's more of an action film than the first and Don Cheadle does a way better job as James Rhodes than Terrance Howard did. Mickey Rourke was also great as a villain. Scarlett Johansson wasn't too bad, but there really wasn't enough of her in the film. Overall, I give this film a B+. BTW, stay after the credits. Quote
