IXTL Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Finally got one of these through the recent HLJ sale, and I couldn't be happier with it. One questions, though - when the FAST packs are attached in fighter mode, does the VF-11 have its tailfins extended or retracted? Retracted. Quote
Shaorin Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 please tell me that those are the stock tail fins, and not a fan-mod!! Archer Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I don't think it will; it looks like it's not available anymore. At the conclusion of the previous HLJ sale (before this one) that included the VF-11b (way back in December), the VF-11b was listed at full price, and a short while thereafter, listed as out of stock and discontinued. Yet some stock once again made their way back to the discount pile. I wouldn't be surprised if some stock made it to sales once again, if anything else, the -11c in place of the -11b. Just my $0.02 though Quote
ps99042 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) Seconded for the 11C which I still want (need?). I just redid my Macross display and there's a lot more space for Battroid mode valkyries... Edited July 10, 2012 by ps99042 Quote
Stark1975 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 The 11B was one of my first modern Yamato valks along with a 1/48 Max Super VF-1J. The 11B is still one of my favorites in terms of the basic design and how well they built it. The only bad thing about the basic design is that without fast packs, the only weapons it has is the gun pod and the head laser, not counting any underwing hard points. But, that seems to be one of the evolutionary features they put into the VF-19 was the internal missiles. Even if it was supposed to be the predecessor to the 19, I just still like the deisgn of the 11 better. Quote

connor99 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 With the exception of the VF-4, the 11b is probably the last valk that I wanna get to add to my small collection. Here's hoping it pops up again in HLJ for a discounted price. Quote
chriswoo Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 yes my VF11B and VF1J have touchdown yesterday Quote
Golden Arms Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I think the vf-11 is probably the most underrated valk toy. It's so simple, yet so nearly flawless. You really take it for granted how well Yamato wqa able to translate it to a toy. Quote
Mommar Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 It has some articulation issues in Battroid I feel keeps it from being "flawless." Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 It has some articulation issues in Battroid I feel keeps it from being "flawless." Like what? I always felt the VF-11B is one of Yamato's best VF ever. Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I'm guessing the lack of a double jointed elbow to let it bend beyond 90 degrees is one of them. Aside from that, I can't really think of anything else articulation wise. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I would have to agree with that particular point, but the rest really makes you overlook it. But given all the flops and snafus Yamato has had on record, I mean seriously, what can considered an acual issue of the VF-11B? Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I agree that it's a pretty solid toy all around. It has excellent representations of all three modes with respect to the line art. My only personal gripe with the toy is the way the cockpit doesn't stay solidly in place in fighter mode and is so fiddly. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I can't say I've experienced that issue, but mine have been pretty secure. While my 11Bs are fine the 11C is the only one that had the loose hip connection. I remember the first day I transformed it the leg just fell off... . Still it wasn't enought to turn me away from the 11s all together. The 11s to me represent Yamato's rise to excellent product renditions. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 The fiddly cockpit is the only aspect of this toy that can shave half a point in the QC/design department. But i use a piece of paper tape aroung the grey recessed piece and end of the story I concur, it's an excellent product. Quote
anime52k8 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) I've always been a little disappointed by the single jointed elbows as they were the only thing that even when the toy was new I thought they could have done better. but now that I've had newer, better engineered toys like the VF-19, I'm not nearly as thrilled with the VF-11 as I used to be. I still like it, but I wish it could be as good as the VF-19 (along with every other VF I've got). Edited October 9, 2012 by anime52k8 Quote
Valkyrie Magnus Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 It looks like I want the VF-11B next. I always liked the way it looked but wasn't sure based on the 1/72 problems. But if people say its good then I am in Quote
ron5864 Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 After I built the 1/72 VF11B model, I have since taken a fondness for the sleek and simple design. So I am waiting for another HLJ sale for the 1/60 version. Quote
ultraman zoffy Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 The only things that have bothered me about the vf-11's are the relatively bland paint schemes and stubbie fast packs, but if they ever do a Milia red scheme with super aerospace packs, I'm all in. Quote
teleray Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) Finally picked one up on sale at HK Collectibles. Not a bad price right now, either. About $174 USD with shipping. Edited October 8, 2012 by teleray Quote
