jvmacross Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Product description on Amazon.jp: (google translation) A popular master file series that sharply cuts into the mechanism that appeared in the work under the theme of "specialized books published in the world of animation work". This time, it features the VF-1S, a variable fighter from the Super Dimension Fortress Macross, and the legendary pilot Roy Fokker. The VF-1 Valkyrie, the first practical variable fighter ever created by mankind in preparation for the coming interstellar war. The Variable Fighter Master File (VFMF) that handles this VF-1 has been published several times in the past, but in this book we will clarify the mechanism and system of VF-1 in more detail by re-verification. On the Macross return-to-earth voyage, the character of Roy Fokker, who led the Skull Battalion, was re-examined. He analyzed his background, his way of life, his skills as a pilot and his qualifications as a captain, and also explained what special capabilities the VF-1S, his favorite aircraft, had. You. VF-1 Valkyrie and Macross A special book that opens up new insights into the world They even admit that that the VF-1 has been visited and re-visited several times by this master files series. Maybe they will disclose that Focker's VF-1S was specially modified to perform better when he was inebriated! Quote

I think I also have a set of fanzines from Latin America, I don't think I have ever posted them. I'll try and find them and post when I get a chance. Thanks. It would be nice to see yours.. I think Chilean and Argentinian fanzines were printed in color and seem to have better quality that the ones I own whcih are Mexican. Regards Quote
peroliza Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 Hello, everyone. Hope you are doing well. I found another low quality Macross/RT fanzine from the early 2000's. Please have in mind that I am not advocating piracy; just showing what you could find at Latin America (in this case, Mexico) bazaars on those years. This one included a CD with many pictures that could be found on the Internet at that time. Again, the magazine is printed in very low quality paper and all content is B&W. Basically it contains the Macross Compendium material translated into Spanish along with RT chronology. Regards Quote

Here are the fanzines I was referring to.... Robotech - Guía Oficial De Episodios Y Personajes No. 1-4 covers every episode of the "Macross Saga" and also has various articles about the making of the show, character and mecha stats I also have a DYRL fanzine....says it is Index No. 3...so not sure what books came before it or after? It covers the movie, lots of stills and mecha lineart, etc Finally, I have a magazine called "Lazer" - Anime, Comics and The World's Corruption( ).....and in this issue they go over every Macross show that had been released to that point...so SDFM, M+, M7...and has some info regarding Macross gaming and other Macross merch... I can post some pics if you like or just check out my "Misc Macross book" gallery.... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/gallery/album/988-jvmacross-books-misc-macross-books/ Quote

BKPMacross Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Maybe HLJ was trying to get some extra money from quarantined Macross fans who are not paying attention . I just checked again and it is now $26.32. Quote

nightmareB4macross Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Hi JVMacross, Not sure if you have all these catalogues. If you do, would you mind posting pics? Or if you have already done so can you provide a link or thread. I figured you are the right person to ask for such an obscure set of reference material. I am very curious about their content. Thanks in advance. Quote

peroliza Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Thanks, jvmacross, for the "Document of Macross" pictures. All of them look great but issues 1 to 3 seem pretty interesting to me. I hope I will get one of those some day. Saludos Quote
peroliza Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Good night. Hope everyone is doing OK. Question. I remember the "Macross This is Animation" books contain storyboards for some SDMF chapters but the pictures were quite small. Is there a book which have these storyboards in a bigger size? Thanks in advance Quote

Thanks in advance I assume you are referring to the This is Animation "Red" and "Blue" books....if so, then there is no other dedicated Macross book that comes to mind that has been published for purchase at a bookstore. The closest thing you will find are extremely rare doujin collections, the original scripts, or you would need to purchase the SDFM deluxe BD box set that was released recently. The deluxe box set includes a very nice "Storyboards" book with several episode storyboards printed within its pages. I will post up some pics so you can see what I am referring to later. It is a shame that Shogakukan or some other publisher never released such a book for SDFM. Incidentally, they did release one for the DYRL film....not sure if you are aware of it... , Quote

peroliza Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 Excellent. Thanks a lot for the pictures. Yes, I am planning to buy the DYRL book once the current situation settles down a little bit. As usual, your help is much appreciated. Saludos Quote

jvmacross Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) Still haven't found my DYRL Storyboard book, however, I had completely forgot about this gem which was included with The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? HD Remastered Edition Memorial Box DVD set... This thick little book contains the entire storyboards for DYRL....and into scenes for what later became part of FB2012. Additionally, it includes the storyboards for the DYRL movie preview and the storyboards for Sega Saturn's fantasic Macross game intro scene! A sneak peek of what you will find within the covers! peroliza Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 Wow. Thanks for sharing those incredible pictures, jvmacross. That book looks pretty massive. I was not aware it ever existed. I remember seeing an interview last year in which Mr. Kawamori showed some Macross Zero storyboards and they looked great. It would very interesting to have this kind of material printed. Quote
jvmacross Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 No problem. It would seem that they are saving these type of artifacts for those who are willing to spend the money on the deluxe media sets. I was lucky to find a set of the SDFM BD set being sold without the 6 discs containing the episodes, so got it for a decent price or at least what I felt the extra media content was worth to me. The DVD set has been out for a while and I found it used for 50 USD or so...definitely worth the price for the books alone...it also contains a similarly-sized book containing several character and mecha linearts from the film...also a very nice book to have. Quote
peroliza Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 Yes, currently the SFDM BD sets prices are extremely high, in my opinion. I have the feeling that 2012 was a very good year for interesting printed material. Right now, I am just waiting for the planned Mikimoto's Macross book. Regards Quote
