This version and the one sold at SDCC and signed by Tenjin are the same book. Nice...thanks for confirming...I bought the book with my Amazon rewards and got it for free....it's a nice book, I really liked the Megaroad illustrations... I'll post some pics up later Quote
Shawn Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I can't ever recall , but maybe someone's brain here might? Have you ever seen either of these books with an OBI ? I've seen pretty much every other Macross book with one, but never these two. Quote
jvmacross Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 No...but can't imagine them being the only ones that didn't... Quote
Shawn Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 leahLooking back I don't recall seeing on on the tv volumes either, so guess there are at least a few. Quote
jvmacross Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 I've seen them on the TV volumes several times on auction...at this point it would be difficult to get a complete set of them with the OBIs Quote
Shawn Posted January 2 Posted January 2 I compared my Comic Con 2023 Signed edition to the one from Amazon released last week and they are identical, could not find any differences Just noting things 'for the record' on the topic of it expecting to be different Quote
jvmacross Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Cool...didn't really need to spend extra money for the SDCC "exclusive"....lol Quote
grogall Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Hi all! I'm trying to find out which book or catalog these pages came from!? Please post cover or ISBN# I have searched over 20 pages of this thread but wasn't able to find anything.... Thanks! Quote
Shawn Posted January 9 Posted January 9 That is from one of the Mandarake Zenbu magazines...I have it somewhere deep in the archives Sorry cannot remember which issue off hand, but maybe a google search could turn up something Mandarake Zenbu Takatoku or something like that まんだらけZENBU タカトク マクロス this could be it https://paypayfleamarket.yahoo.co.jp/item/z246683944 Quote

wm cheng Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Thanks so much @jvmacross - I went back 3pgs looking for it and wouldn't you know it, it was on the 4th page - argh. Quote
jvmacross Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Looks like my copy is on the way...probably won't get it until Saturday at the earliest Quote
Shawn Posted January 17 Posted January 17 HOW....literally every time you get shipping notification and mine sits for an extra week. I literally ordered mine within hours of the post here. You paying for Amazon JP Prime or something LOL Teach me the good tricks!! Quote
jvmacross Posted January 17 Posted January 17 LOL...I just go with the expedited shipping option for a few dollars more...after that it's up to the Macross gods Quote
Shawn Posted January 18 Posted January 18 yay...at least I am in SHIPPING mode! Just another 11 days until it arrives 😛 Quote
sh9000 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 My 2 are coming on the 31st. I hope they stopped shipping books in paper mailing bags. Here are some pics of the book I found online. Quote
jvmacross Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Nice pics, I am not sure if the rough gengas have been posted elsewhere, but everything else looks familiar... Looking forward to receiving mine! Quote
jvmacross Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Super Dimension Fortress Macross Super Encyclopedia by Kodansha It's another "all" about Macross book....is it a "super" encycopedia? Not so much....but neither was the last "Macross Super Encyclopedia"...If you have kept up with some of the more recent Macross reference books, you more or less have seen most of what this book contains...there are some interesting illustrations that may or may not be original to this book, but I'd have to dig out my old DYRL and SDFM reference books (ex. This is Animation books, Gold Book, and Perfect Memory) to be sure....but sort not holding my breath...Anyways...it's a Macross book....well, it's an ALL SDFM/DYRL Macross book...is it a "must have"? IMO, not so much....you'd get a bigger bang for your book seeking out the old TIA SDFM/DYRL books, the Gold Book and the SDFM Perfect Memory... Before I forget....I'd say the biggest disappointment would have to be the laughable amount of FB2012 content....literally a half page!...seriously Kodansha? You literally hyped it up on the OBI and book description....lol Sampling of pics...enjoy! Quote
wm cheng Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Thanks so much for your assessment @jvmacross - I would have thought the spine would be so much thicker being an all Macross Encyclopedia! I haven't seen anything I don't have already except they're all smaller. I already have all the TIA, Perfect Memory & Gold Book - now I don't feel like I'm missing out too much. Whew, wallet saved! I guess there just isn't anything new for such an old piece of art. Quote
Shawn Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Wow-I feel like there is definitely a lot of new never before seen line art there! Awesome Thanks for the pics! Quote

Slowly going over the illustrations that just look new to me...some I have found in those old reference books some I have not... I have a feeling that a new Miyatake Macross book is in order...full of his previously unseen "world-building" illustrations for SDFM/DYRL Quote
Space Casual Life Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) Thanks for posting JVMacross. I was sure I'd never seen that SF-3A Lancer II on a carrier illustration before. Checked all my TV books (PM, TIA x 4, Studio Nue Mechanic Design Works) and can confirm for those books anyway. This book might be worth purchasing if still available. Has anyone else seen this sketch before and where? Thanks. Edited January 20 by Space Casual Life Quote

If so...that is one that may be new...there are still some other books, booklets, DVD/BD exclusive books, that I have not looked through...but it does not look like something I have seen before.... Seto Kaiba Posted January 21 Posted January 21 3 hours ago, Space Casual Life said: Thanks for posting JVMacross. I was sure I'd never seen that SF-3A Lancer II on a carrier illustration before. From the text on the image, that's not a Lancer II on a carrier. The caption says "Anti-aircraft gun at OX Town 3-chomei", which is apparently in the middle of a market area in Macross City. There's a note that it's a piece of tracked artillery, that it advances to the exterior of the ship through a triple airlock ahead of it, that private homes in the area are often damaged, etc. I know I've seen this picture before, but I don't think I've seen it printed quite so large in the past. Shawn Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I've looked through the Macross EB, Studio Nue EB, TIA 1/2/3/5/6,PM/GB, Miyatake M to Org, and come up empty on that Anti Aircraft gun. I have another Miyatake book somewhere still looking (I am assuming it is a Miyatake drawing...if it is Kawamori maybe its in the Expo book or something newer)? Run across lots of hangar type pics, but not that one, or the city one to the right of it with the gerwalk. There is a diff gerwalk in the city but not that one. Its crazy to still see new art pop up after 40 years. At least I still think its new lol Quote

jvmacross Posted January 21 Posted January 21 The other places that may have some of these illustratios could be the many furokus releases during the SDFM era.... But right now I'm thinking it may be something previously unpublished... As I said before...I think it's time for a new dedicated Miyatake Macross book... Quote
