wm cheng Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Wow over $30 in shipping just from Amazon (that's before any customs & duties!) - its getting crazy these days. Any suggestions for any other online retailers or stores in Canada or is Amazon.jp still my best bet? Quote
jvmacross Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 I'm paying aproximately 31 USD for 2 books using their priority shipping service....it's usually about 21 USD for one book.....I guess I have nothing to complain about in terms of shipping rates...AJ is my "go to" retailer for Macross Books...unless I have accumulated enough points to purchase elsewhere....in either case, no other site will be able to have my book at my doorstep quicker than AJ Quote

You could try https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOBK-2823965 Should be abt the same price overall but hey who knows if its cheaper to your region. Am ordering via CDJ cos bundling it with the HJ mechanics DYRL mag. Didnt want to wait for HLJ to backorder the HJ mechanics DRYL. Quote
Shawn Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Here is a another sneak peak at the book 😛 (My SDCon display from last year) Lets see..4 more days until release, then what...3-4 days in transit from Amazon Japan? I've only bought books from Amazon Japan since 2018 but everything arrives in excellent condition. Out of curiosity...took a peek at my past orders with AJ....been ordering books with them since 2015...8 years of flawless, economical, super fast shipping and Macross goodness in print! Quote
Shawn Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Little more interesting news-Takani had a scrapbook with the Nichimo pics he took. Would love to see the real scrapbook. The books release date is the original airing for the Pineapple Salad episode, and is Kawamori's birthday...double cool https://macross.jp/news-detail/23516/ Quote
Mommar Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Amazon shipped my Shogakukun Macross Package Art Collection Book today. Quote

jvmacross Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 AJ shipped mine via DHL....arrival date estimate is Feb 27th......In my experience, DHL either delivers on time or before the estimated date Quote
sh9000 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Mine were shipped with ECMS Express. It's all good either way. This book is awesome. Quote
Shawn Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Looks like I need to sign up for a twitter account. I don't see a "Japanese Residents Only' requirement unless I missed something. If you follow Shogakukan, and post a pic of your book cover with the hash sign macross sign, then you are eligible to win a Takani/Miyatake signed pic https://www.shogakukan-cr.co.jp//news/n101787.html https://twitter.com/hashtag/マクロスサイン応募?src=hashtag_click Quote
Shawn Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Well I asked what Takani's scrapbook pictures would look like, and they did post a sample https://animebox.jp/369132/ That is for the Nichimo kit Quote

jvmacross Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 These just de-folded from Amazon Japan! Quote
Shawn Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Yeah...I heard the express cargo plane flying over my house heading to yours as their first priority drop off point. I think it was being escorted by a squadron of F-18s Mine are stuck in Los Angeles...yay Quote

jvmacross Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Really enjoying the historical accounts behind the art and merchandising.... Google Translate keeps getting better all the time! So much to take in with this book beyond the beloved illustrations... Quote

Mommar Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 My book has spent more time sitting in LA than it did in Japan. Quote
jvmacross Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 LOL...ever since my shipments stopped going through Chicago....the speed in which I get stuff through all carriers has increased by at least 2-3 days.....they seem to go through Cincinnati....DHL be swaggin' like Ohio these days! Quote
Convectuoso Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Amazon JP just delivered. I'm loving the "Unused Illustrations" Quote
jvmacross Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Again...thanks to Google Translate's constant improvements...I am able to get more out of the book than the cool pics....for example....these pics found in the book's section on the lineart that was used as reference for companies like Arii and Takatoku.... The top image has been published before and details a gimmick that thus far has only been reproduced on the original Takatoku 1/3000 SDF-1.... The bottom image, I belive, is something new....it details a concept that was proposed to hold the Prometheus and Daedelus for the Takatoku 1/3000 SDF-1 before the idea was scrapped and the decision was made to simply add wheels to them..... No wheels on the prototype.... Quote
Shawn Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Still waiting on my BOOK...but that could be for Imai #33-the Generic Zentradi Soldier It was scrapped for the VF-1A Gerwalk in its place (#33) but then later reborn as Quamzin #79?? With Artwork by Takani this time? Quote
Shawn Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Wow-I never noticed the lack of wheels on the Takatoku 1/3000 proto-nice catch (only been 40 years)!! Quote
Shawn Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Anything on the Large Missile at the top? LOL Quote
