Lynn Minmay, the voice who tamed the Giants.

Even though I first saw her in Do You Remember Love? which I first time watched few months ago, her, I mean Iijima's voice was so beautiful (as she is) that often listen to Macross: Mari Iijima Song Memory - MINMAY Sings for You and other Iijima's albums.

One of my overall favorite anime characters, ever.

She's also one of the main reason why am I so hooked up to Macross franchise in few last months.

So legendary.

Which kind of makes me wonder... If only Misa could sing - would she beat Minmey in a love song contest? I kind of imagine Misa's songs would be full of sorrow because of Riber... I think the only time she was actually happily in love was when Hikaru came to rescue her from Alaska base - er... just kind of thinking...

She was the only big time Macross idol who never sang any songs but still moved everyone's hearts.... interesting...

Hmmmm.... as per SONGSTRESS, definitely Minmay. There's basically no way any other songstress will surpass her in-universe.

As for my favorite songstress music? It's a tie between Sharon Apple and Sheryl. Ranka's songs are way too childish for my taste.

Well, Misa trully touched me during tea-party scene in DYRL?.

Also, if Milia could sing, there's no reason why Misa couldn't, especially because she have so tender and calming, almost depressing voice.

And to add, I must say she's probably first Macross character which I saw and remembered long ago before I've started watching it.

Altough, I (veeeeery blurry) remember watching Robotech dubbed on Serbian during 90' as a kid, but nothing of story.

I think those songs are also available in the "Macross the Complete" OST CD box. And yes, the songs are exactly how you describe, melancholic ballads.

Hey, I get warm fuzzy feelings from my childhood whenever I see her in her 80'stastic clothes. The hair however, she was this close to being a be-muleted, butch lesbian (not the type I like, that and I've got a bit of a hair fetish).

I blame both. she was SO hot with the see-through slave-girl-bikini-inspired body suit and the long blue hair (long blue hair is the hottest thing in anime ever, look at macro klan).

My favorite is sharon apple. I liked the diversity of songs even though club or dance or whatever you want to call it is not my thing. Second would have to be sheryl nome. Not ground breaking music but good for anime. I have never liked lynn minmay. Just very generic sounding.
