grss1982 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 PV for Episode 03 is out. Oh boy, this looks incredible. Was that a Rick DOM? And a transforming Hyaku Shiki with no gold plating? I see a purple Geara Zulu hand chopped by Unicorn. Angelo Sauper haters, rejoice! WOOOOOOOOT!!!! Quote
Seto Kaiba Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 And a transforming Hyaku Shiki with no gold plating? Updated MSN-001 Delta Gundam actually... 's called the MSN-001A1 Delta Plus. The design backstory for it puts it and the Hyaku Shiki as having a common ancestor in the original MSN-001 Delta Gundam design (which was never completed). Quote

wolfx Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Updated MSN-001 Delta Gundam actually... 's called the MSN-001A1 Delta Plus. The design backstory for it puts it and the Hyaku Shiki as having a common ancestor in the original MSN-001 Delta Gundam design (which was never completed). So is the Zeta Gundam the ancestor to the Hyaku Shiki or the Delta Plus? Always thought the Hyaku Shiki was the prototype for the Zeta before they put wave-rider mode onto it. Quote
Seto Kaiba Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 So is the Zeta Gundam the ancestor to the Hyaku Shiki or the Delta Plus? Eh... it's all a bit of a mess, really. Information on how this all fits together is kind of sparse, since prior to having a mass-production version appear in Gundam Unicorn the Delta Gundam only existed in the MS Graphica book. If I'm interpreting this correctly, it looks like the Delta Gundam predates Camille's design for the Zeta Gundam... and that Anaheim shelved it because the frame wasn't strong enough to handle transformation. They revived it once they'd seen Camille's design for the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam, and used the design to develop the non-transformable Hyaku Shiki to test the use of movable frame technology and wing binders. They also built the Methuss around the same time as a test of the transformation system, before building the Zeta Gundam prototypes and then the completed unit delivered to Camille. From here, it gets much clearer, in that Anaheim apparently went back and reevaluated their Delta Gundam design while they were trying to sort out a mass-production version of the Zeta Gundam (the Zeta Plus), and built the Delta Plus at the same time (circa UC 0088-89). So, I think the design evolution goes something like this: Delta Gundam (concept) -> Zeta Gundam (design) -> Hyaku Shiki & Methuss (test units) -> Prototype Zeta Gundam (3x) -> Zeta Gundam (one-off) -> Delta Plus & Zeta Plus (mass-production types) Quote
anime52k8 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Delta Gundam (concept) -> Zeta Gundam (design) -> Hyaku Shiki & Methuss (test units) -> Prototype Zeta Gundam (3x) -> Zeta Gundam (one-off) -> Delta Plus & Zeta Plus (mass-production types) close, but not quite. I believe it actually goes like this: Kamille's Design -> Delta gundam -> Methuss -> Prototype Zeta Gundam's -> Zeta Gundam -> Zeta+ Kamille's original Design is what prompted AE to start the Z project that would eventually lead to the Zeta gundam. the Delta was originally a design proposal for the Zeta gundam (basically it was a more refined/production ready version of Kamille's design) but when it came time to actually build it they found that the frame wasn't strong enough to support transformation, so rather than scrapping the design outright, they completed it as a non-transforming MS, added some zero's to the model number and handed it over to char. Also, when they say that AE revisited the Delta design at the same time they where working on a mass producible version of the Zeta I believe they're referring to the RGZ-91 Re-GZ and RGZ-95 ReZEL, so in between Char's counter attack and Unicorn (0093~0096) Quote
grss1982 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 AMX-009 Dreissen and the MSN-001A1 Delta plus Interesting. Paint scheme seems a bit different though. Quote
Snail00 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I Just CANT wait for more MGs and maybe PGs from this series But I just saw Unicorn Part 2. While the animation is still good I just feel they dropped the bar a lot!. Seeing that it comes out every 6 months you would think they can keep the level of animation quality up from the first episode. I guess I was spoiled by the MF series and Movie along with the new Evangelion Movies. The mecha just seem plain and amatuerish. Something I might find in an Car Robots Transformer Series. I might be wrong but that how I feel and my eyes perceive the quality Quote

Seto Kaiba Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 close, but not quite. I believe it actually goes like this: [...] [...] Kamille's original Design is what prompted AE to start the Z project that would eventually lead to the Zeta gundam. the Delta was originally a design proposal for the Zeta gundam [...] Ah... that would make sense too. Like I said, the data I was working from was a bloody mess, and in a couple places it was even internally contradictory. Quote

I believe it actually goes like this: Kamille's Design -> Delta gundam -> Methuss -> Prototype Zeta Gundam's -> Zeta Gundam -> Zeta+ It just occured to me despite having the Zeta II GFF figure, i just realised that the ReZel probably is its direct descendant, which i think only made it as far as concept canon-wise. http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/z-msv/msz-008.htm Edited November 26, 2010 by wolfx Quote

bluemax151 Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 More to the point, the ReZEL is pretty much a mass produced version of the Zeta II, not the Zeta Gundam. No surprise it's simpler and easier to produce. -- Mark http://www.mechatalk...092&hilit=rezel Quote

Archer Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Gundam Unicorn episode 3, 1st 8-minutes preview Simple EPIC! I wish Unicorn was made into a full - blown 50 episode series instead of these movies. Soooo much anticipation, and April (or May for the likely subs) feels so far away! Quote

Soooo much anticipation, and April (or May for the likely subs) feels so far away! While it's nice to have full 50 episode of Unicorn epicness, I don't think it will retain the same quality if the production team rushed to complete one episode per week. Not to mention fillers and unnecessary plot that may result from having to filling 50 episodes quota. What made Unicorn as good as it now can be contributed to long production time and of course, bigger budget than weekly shows. Quote

Good point, but it is pretty hard to wait 6 months for an hour of unicorn. AND the fact that over the course of the past two episodes, we've seen like 10 mins of unicorn and like 50 mins of Kshatriya beam spam doesn't help with the anticipation of wanting to see a legit unicorn fight that lasts longer than 5 mins Quote

azrael Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 There's a slight delay with the PSN stream of episode 3 at the moment, but it should be up soon. It was suppose to be available for PSN starting March 5th, but there are some delays. If you have a Zune account, it's now available for streaming. The BD/DVD is still scheduled for its April release. Quote

Beltane70 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I guess, I'll have to fifth the request for a MG Kshatriya, since Snail00 second, third and fourthed it already. When it does come out, I'm totally considering butchering the 1/144 Kshatriya to make it look like it did after the Unicorn got through with it. Quote
Hikuro Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 That was a good episode, this'll give the mech nerds a hard on for sure. Quote
grss1982 Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 (edited) Just saw the third one. A bit spoilerish, but, maaaaannn....Unicorn is one mean machine when that NT-D activates. Now time for the six month wait....again. Edited March 14, 2011 by grss1982 Quote

Now time for the six month wait....again. Yeah and now with the quake who knows if it'll be six months or longer! Hopefully that will have no profound impact though, cept a few of my favorite TV shows are on hold until the time being. I did enjoy the episode, although I can see how this'll develop but I really shouldn't speculate since I never read the novel. Quote
reeoyuy Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Unicorn poster drawn by Haruhiko Mikimoto Now Marida reminds me to a certain Macross character (her hair is a bit greenish on that poster). Quote
miles316 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I can remember after 9-11 Cartoon network stopped airing the Violent anime like "Gundam 0083 stardust memories" and "Outlaw Star" for a month. Quote
Beltane70 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 That's an awesome poster! Did that come with one of the novels? Quote
