Pat Payne Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 I heard somewhere that the shooting model for the USS Stargazer (from ST:TNG) was kitbashed from a number of anime models, including a VF-1. Anyone know what parts and where? It'd be kind of cool to think there's a part of Roy Focker cruising around Starfleet Quote
CAG Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 Are you sure that's true?.....The stargazer seems to be a reassembly of a number of Constitution class elements, kinda like DS9's Frankenstein fleet with the Excelsior. But its possible i guess. Quote
the white drew carey Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 I think the anime parts make up a lot of the greeblies. But I'm not sure which ones. Quote
yellowlightman Posted November 7, 2003 Posted November 7, 2003 The early seasons of Star Trek: TNG had *tons* of anime references. I found a site with info about it... Here: http://www.tcp.com/~doi/alan/webguide/postings/ Scroll down to the guy's Baycon postings (they're archives of a guy's convention reports he posted back on the day to USENET). Basically goes over lots of TNG trivia the producers talked about. The crew on TNg were HUEG Dirty Pair fans. Quote
Pat Payne Posted November 7, 2003 Author Posted November 7, 2003 Yeah: thanks for pointing us to that archive, Yellowlightman. It does beg the question though: What WAS the "trading relationship" between Sunrise and Paramount? Also, it's fascinating to get that sort of "time capsule" feeling of an anime fandom back when it was still local niche clubs and 27th-generation fansubs. Hard to believe, now that Anime is on every streetcorner, that it was like that here in the states... Quote
