GreatMoose
Is the Yammie 1/60 25th Anniversary YF-19 molded in black, or is it paint? I'm going to try to remove some of the gold, but want to keep the black as it is. Any thoughts? jardann
I could be wrong since I don't actually have one, but I think the kit is black, and the gold is all decals. So just don't use the decals and you should have what you want with no fuss. I'm assuming you are talking about the model kit. If you are thinking of the Yamato toy, then I have no idea about how that is decorated. Edited January 29, 2009 by jardann
nightmareB4macross
If you're referring to the 1/60, it is molded in black. the gold can be removed with a bit of elbow grease.
edwin3060
The model kit, on the other hand, is dark blue and not black

GreatMoose
yeah, scale and manufacturer would've been helpful, right? Thanks!
Excillon
I used a small amount of rubbing alcohol (diluted) to remove tampo printing on an Alternator Smokescreen once, don't know if that helps but it worked good, looked real clean afterwards. edwin3060
yeah, scale and manufacturer would've been helpful, right? Thanks! There are 2 25th Anniversay YF-19s out there, the 1/60 Yamato which is black with gold tampo printing, and the 1/72 Hasegawa which is dark blue with gold decals. Mog
I forgot who it was, but I believe someone on this board painted over the gold lettering with some black Citadel paint. Posted a pic of it too. Regarding the Citadel paints, you can usually find small bottles of them at a hobby or comic store, especially if they specialize in those Warhammer minatures.
