wwkkim Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Are there problems with angel birds? (1/48) I have seen them being sold at a really cheap price and wonder if it has any critical problem. Quote
miriya Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Are there problems with angel birds? (1/48) I have seen them being sold at a really cheap price and wonder if it has any critical problem. The reason they are so cheap is because the color scheme is ugly as hell. The toy is actually problem free (other than being an eyesore)! Quote
eriku Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 If you like how it looks you shouldn't have anything to worry about. A lot of people love the color scheme (It's one of my favorites) but a lot more apparently do not, as can be gathered from the current prices. Quote
VFTF1 Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I just hope we get v.2 1/60 angel birds. I'd buy them Pete Quote
adrianop Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) The cheap price also makes them a good buy for mods/customs. Edited January 14, 2009 by adrianop Quote
blacklotus Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Are there problems with angel birds? (1/48) I have seen them being sold at a really cheap price and wonder if it has any critical problem. For a short period of time (before the ebay craze), my friend bought the hot low-visibility version at 50% discount from Tokyo Takashimaya. He informed me it was stacked on the floor like some clearance sales. Yeah, so anything can be "unwanted", even the now very hot low-viz version. So, as long as you like the colour scheme, that's all that matters. Cheers. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 the scheme is not significant in any matter than a showbird in a fictional universe featured only on the first episode of SDFM most people will make sure to first acquire all the cool VF-1 variant and schemes that were significant to the story or that look better and leave this as a last valk to buy is there's some extra cash lying around or to complete the collection Quote
SchizophrenicMC Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I bought it, and aside from mine missing a bunch of parts (Has this happened to anyone else?), there are no issues. People just don't want it. I plan on buying 2 more to custom. It's a twofer deal. Quote
Hikuro Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Crappy color design (not bad paint just design) and there's enough VF-1A's out there. Also why Kakizaki's is cheaper then most of the VF-1A's next to the Angel Birds. Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) No, there are no problems with my two Angels, and yes they are specially bought for NMB4M's 2 seater and 1 seater kits. 1 was bought from the hlj.com sale, and the 1st was from Kevin at Valk-Exchange, before the sale. I would go as far to say they are the TIGHTEST 1/48 out there. Nothing wrong with the Angel Birds or their scheme. Just that the 1A head sucks, compared to an 1S Angel Bird! KHaw! http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...l=1S+Angel+Bird Edited January 14, 2009 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote
miriya Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I actually like the DYRL kakizaki VF-1A (aside from the pilot) but the character is one of my least favorites. It is a nice green color and I almost got it as my first 1/48 valk. Quote
jedimech Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 i personally do like the color scheme, but i do not like the 1A head........ Quote
Jasonc Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there also a ton of other Macross stuff coming out right about that same time? It could've also been the fact that there were just too many Macross toys to choose from, and another 1A just didn't make enough people's list. I would get one if they make a 1/60, but I'm passing on the 1/48s. The 2 I have are more than enough for me. Quote
SchizophrenicMC Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Why does everyone rip on the color? I like it... Maybe I'm too American for saying that, but come on! France, Britain, and Australia have the same color scheme, and no one rips on them for the red white and blue... But that's going off on a tangent... I need to get 6 more of these puppies. 1: Strike Noir Gundam custom(Gonna need 1J head) 2:Gundam Virtue custom(Gonna need GPB-1S and 1J head) 3:USN color scheme 4:Insignia Red 5:Halo 3 ('nuff said) 6:Koenig-1 custom (My favorite custom paint scheme, which I made for some lineart... Gonna need a 1S head.) Half price, man. What can I say? Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 It's not so much the COLORS as the PATTERN. It's a Sailor Moon outfit... Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 One thing i do know is that i will NOT buy 1/60 v.2 versions of the Angel Bird, blech, it's all about fighter mode for me. And imo 1/48 wins over v.2 1/60 for fighter mode. Quote
m0n5t3r Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 It's not so much the COLORS as the PATTERN. It's a Sailor Moon outfit... "gay" colors+pattern??? ...just sayin' Quote
SchizophrenicMC Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Well, I may be the only one, but I like it... Hmph! Anyway, since it's mostly white and cheap, it's perfect for customs... And 1/48 only sucks in battroid because the hands are iffy and it's like a black man or something. (No racism there. Just a nosecone joke. DON'T KILL ME!) GERWALK and Fighter own on the 1/48... Now, if they could get it in 1/24, like that old Arii... Quote
ruskiiVFaussie Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) Seeing how Battroid mode is supposed to be HUSH HUSH, and the Angel Bird squadron was just for pre-Macross-Launch celebrations headed by Roy, civvies weren't ever ever going to see Battroid mode, just fighter. Perhaps after the launch they were going to be changed back into fighter squad colours, or just brownie's (1A) again. Fighter mode Angel looks sexy. And i've just now remebered the 2 Angel Birds i bought were going to be customs (VF-1D and my VF-1custom scheme) *shrugs!* Edited January 15, 2009 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote
SchizophrenicMC Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Or, maybe, they were gonna be like the USAF Thunderbirds are. Take a world tour every summer to show off the UN's crazy, MP plane. Quote
nightmareB4macross Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 The VF-1A Angelbirds and the VF-1A DYRL Kakizaky are two of the most solid built 1/48s. I've got several of each and none are less than perfect. ***NOTE TO SELF: I still need to buy more Angelbirds.**** Quote
mr.chogokin Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I prefer moe' wrapped around with the sailor outfit. I get offended when they do it with the macho VF1. Well, it's a good thing they stopped with the angelbird... just think of the horror if they didn't!! Quote
DWN013 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 5:Halo 3 ('nuff said) Wait, so you're going to paint a 1A solid MCPO green with a gold eye? ... I was going to come up with something witty, but now that I think about it, that sounds damn cool! Quote
