akt_m Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I'm looking for some pics with good res. of the VF-25. I'm sure i've asked it before but don't remember where. Until now i've been using some toys photos i found at the internet. But unfortunatly it's low-res and also for some unkown reason the top and left pics doesn't match 100%. Now that i've reached more or less the basic proportions i'm in a need for better and more precise photos to keep my work on it. Thank you for any help. Quote
Rodavan Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I have also been looking , this is what I found ...... If you find anything better please share Quote
Mr March Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I'll get some stuff to you akt_m. Remind me if I forget. Quote
akt_m Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 I'll get some stuff to you akt_m. Remind me if I forget. Oh please! I will be waiting!! Rodavan All i've got is some toy photos, i will see if i find the site i got them... Quote
Mr March Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Okay, these are the best, most clear scans I could make from the pictures in the Macross Chronicle spread. They won't be as sharp or detailed as good black and white line art, but they are probably way better than most of the scans floating out there on the net. I hope these help. Quote
akt_m Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Thank you!!! Those hands shots are really nice! Also i've come across this one: http://pds9.egloos.com/pds/200806/25/50/c0...61fe31c7653.jpg anyone knows if are there more??? Quote
Mr March Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Yes, I've got those on my website (under the VF-25F Messiah entry). http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macrossf/vf-25...machinery-1.gif http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macrossf/vf-25...machinery-2.gif I think they came from a model kit booklet. They were reprinted in the Macross Chronicle. Quote
sketchley Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 (...) I think they came from a model kit booklet. (...) Model Graphix. Nope, don't know which issue, but chances are Graham has scanned it and added it to the main website. Quote
akt_m Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Can anyone with the toy help me here, i'm not sure if the air intakes they do 90º, or if they have a small angle. Don't know how to explain in english... I guess if you see the picture you understand what i mean... Thank you! Quote
edwin3060 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 (edited) The have an angle, as in the intake on the right side. Also, the wings have a dihedral to them. Other than that, it looks great! Edited January 12, 2009 by edwin3060 Quote

Vostok 7 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Thx man!!! (had to look at a dictionary to know what dihedral is ) Now it seems to be looking better! Wow, that model looks pretty good. I'll be getting that stuff I owe you over to you soon (the pictures and models), we've had nasty weather around here that's kept me busy! Vostok 7 Quote
akt_m Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) Does anyone know how the thrust vectoring thing/foot gets attached to the other part???? WIP: Edited January 27, 2009 by akt_m Quote
Mr March Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Sorry I can't help, but damn are you ever making good progress! Bravo! Quote
edwin3060 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Does anyone know how the thrust vectoring thing/foot gets attached to the other part???? WIP: Hmm going from the toy and the model there's a sliding joint kind of thing-- but that part is hidden in the show. Looks good! Quote
Chronocidal Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I've had it in mind to actually piece together a decent top/side view from the pics in the bandai kit directions.. there are several orthographic projection bits in there for various parts, and they could probably all be assembled into a schematic, given enough work. Personally, I'm really missing having a Hasegawa kit of this now. Their kit diagrams were always a rock solid reference for VF CG models. Quote
edwin3060 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Ahh well. Maybe Bandai will farm out their non-transformable kits to Hasegawa? Not likely though. Quote
Chronocidal Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Btw, I don't think the wings are actually supposed to have any dihedral.. I don't remember seeing it in the series at all (though I could be entirely wrong here), it always seems to appear on the toys and kits though. Seems like no one can ever get the wings fully level, and it's always bugged me. Quote
akt_m Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 Thx for all the info. And i think Chronocidal is right, just looked at some episodes and there is no dihedral indeed. Quote
edwin3060 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Do you have any screen shots? The dihedral of the model kit is only 2-3 degrees, so it might be missed when watching the anime. Besides, given the accuracy of the model kit in so many ways I'd doubt the dihedral was unintended. Quote
akt_m Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Just to see how it would end i replaced the VF-25 wings with something close to the YF-24 wings. Quote
Chronocidal Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 That looks good. I think if I ever get enough kits, I may customize one into a VF-24, just for the heck of it. I love delta designs. As for the dihedral, I'm pretty sure it's just an artifact of the fact that you have to build the kit yourself, and if parts don't fit perfectly, the wings are going to bump against the legs, and not fold entirely flat. I think even the DX version has this to a degree. I've only seen a few shots of kits that the wings were flat on, and they were EXTENSIVELY detailed, meaning the builders probably were perfectionists to an extent, and may have modified parts to get them to fit that way. edwin3060 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 From episode 1 Nice. I guess that clinches it then. Could you post that screengrab without the red line? I'd like it for my desktop thanks! Quote

I guess that might be true for the model kit, but the DX version actually has the wings lock onto the legs through a tab so the dihedral here is probably designed (more tension to hold the heavy legs up) Quote
akt_m Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 Yeah, just messing with my models... Quote
edwin3060 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) Schweet! 3D VF Girl! You definitely need to post this in the VFGirls thread. It certainly fits the VF-25, since it looks anorexic anyway. Edited February 2, 2009 by edwin3060 Quote
akt_m Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 I tried to make it more "fat", but i can't help cause the model was build to be skinny, and it's the only body model i've done. It got even more skinny because i set wrongly the pixel aspect ratio. It stretched the image at the vertical orientation. See if it is better now... Will post probably after i finish the VF-25 model, then i get the already textured model to build the valkgirl. Quote

akt_m Posted February 8, 2009 Author Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) It is a bit late to be asking this, but does anyone have a picture of the VF-25 cockpit??? I saw some of the Mac. F episodes but it never shows the whole cockpit and besides there is always someone using it, covering some parts... I tried to come up with a design using what i could see and making up with some details... not done yet. If it is all wrong i will just discard it.. Also i've been following some of the toys pictures, and everything doesn't fit well. In the toy there is a big joint that connects the leg to the body, in the 3d model used in the series i couldn't see it anywhere. So the problem is, if i remove it, i will leave a big hole, if i enlarge the body piece it will probably look strange in battroid mode. in the picture i made a generic piece to cover it. Anyone has any info on this?? Thx for any help!! almost forgot: to edwin3060 Edited February 8, 2009 by akt_m Quote
SchizophrenicMC Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Well, I don't remember the ridges on the sides, but maybe I wasn't looking. I think there was a rail on the sides (Below the slope you have) where the Ex-Gear attaches, but I'm not sure. Perhaps I need to get high-res copies of Frontier and watch, eh? Quote
