jorgeO Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 well, am new to this site, but based on the pics and the super skinny frame of the VF-25's, i only see myself getting one with superparts. or when the 171 gets done.
UN Spacy Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 It's super skinny in the CGI lineart. But thick in the Kawamori's early lineart (which I prefer).

eugimon Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) I notice the partsformer neck swap that the owner gave it to give it a neck, yes, I noticed the neck... I think i would have preferred a limited mobility telescoping neck over the ball jointed neck. someone, make some aftermarket hard plastic ears and a neck! Edited December 31, 2008 by eugimon
Graham Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 I really wanna know how he made that neck extension. I really want one. Looks 100 times better. Graham
IXTL Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 The head lasers look awful in every single photo we've seen.
Graham Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Really hoping Bandai decides to release a tan cannon fodder brownie VF-25 DX. Graham
Graham Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 The head lasers look awful in every single photo we've seen. Yes, the VF-25S's head lasers are pretty bad, but I've learnt to live with them. While the toys are overall far from perfect, I'm actually really enjoying them. Guess I'm not such an accuracy whore after all, eh? The way I look at it, is that they are probably the only high(ish) grade, large scale VF-25 toys we will ever see, so might as well enjoy them. They are not so bad and do IMO have a certain old school charm about them. Graham
macrossnake Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 more new photos? http://www.sgcollect.com/forum/index.php?s...9090&st=120 scroll down note the neck: Did he simply pull the head out and just left the head 'sit' on top of the cap without push down to lock up, so the position of the head is higher? It does look much better.

My only qualm with that saying is this: You can replace the parts that make it ugly, but you can't replace... Wait a sec...

Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Looks like the guy cut a piece of either the base of the head, or the neck piece on the 25S to make the head stand out.
Guest sh002 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 looks like the head lasers and neck can be remedied. it also looks like the plastic is pretty good. how does it compare to the quality of plastic from a yamato valk?
Graham Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 The plastic is good quality, but it is glossy. Some people don't like the glossy finish. I'm OK with it. Graham
Anavel Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Hey guys, just spotted this on 2chan. Don't know if this an undocumented feature or a modification, but it looks to allow much better leg movement for gerwalk mode.
IXTL Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) Looks like a mod to me. The bit below the knee cap appears to have been carved out to allow the knee to bend forward more. Gerwalk mode is hugely improved now that the nose can dip. Edited December 31, 2008 by IXTL
UN Spacy Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Another great gallery by Hathaway. I'm really starting to like Alto's over Ozma's. http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/thread-83167-1-1.html

anime52k8 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 did this guy do what i think he did?!? nope, that's where it separates,
m0n5t3r Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 nope, that's where it separates, oh, i see... is the knee part above the landing gears detachable then? or did the guy force it off. that part doesn't have a hinge...
wolfx Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) Man...is the range of the knees that bad for gerwalk mode? I have to shave off some knee to get it into your classic gerwalk pose? I think this killed it for me. Some questions to those who have owned it: 1.) How is the diecast content? 2.) In some battroid poses, it seems that the back looks too heavy and they seem to be leaning backwards. Is it because the thigh joints are loose and the back is too heavy to support the weight? Will having the armored/super parts in the future make this more of a problem later? Edited December 31, 2008 by wolfx
Sam Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 So basically the guy shaved a v shaped notch out of the top of the cover thats over the wheels? That allows the better movement?
MasterOfPuppets Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) note the neck: Somebody here figure that sh!t out! That looks so much better. That and the gerwalk mod a couple posts up really help this thing. I'll still hold off on Ozma and Alto in case of future FP/Armor bundles. But I'm very tempted despite the short comings of the DX. Michael and Luca I will definitely get. Edited December 31, 2008 by MasterOfPuppets

Don't know if this an undocumented feature or a modification, but it looks to allow much better leg movement for gerwalk mode. Definitely a custom mod. While it looks good, not sure I'm brave enough to start carving on a US$125 toy yet. Graham

Will having the armored/super parts in the future make this more of a problem later? 1) Diecast parts = Biceps, Hip/intakes, hip bars, ankles and inner feet, front and rear landing gear struts, 5-hole shoulder blocks, shoulder hinge assembly. 2) Just bad posing in the pics I think. The joints are quite tight and should (touch wood) be strong enough to support the Super parts in Battroid mode. Graham
Graham Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 VF-25S pic I took just now attached, just 'cus I feel like it. I think it looks pretty good in this shot. Graham
Graham Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 the neck looks good enough... That's about as high as it goes in my photo and turning the head slightly to the side does make it look better. But having the head 2-3mm higher would be a huge improvement. Graham
vanpang Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 what are the chances of Yamato getting the license and improved on Bandai's design ?
Scream Man Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 ever, or just soon? Coz i wouldnt say never, but it wont be for a long while.
Graham Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 what are the chances of Yamato getting the license and improved on Bandai's design ? I'd say slim to no chance. Initially, there were indications that Yamato might be able to get a shot at it after about 4 years, but with Frontier being such a success, I doubt Bandai will let anybody else get it. Heck, after all these years, they are still hanging onto the Macross 7 toy licence, despite not really doing much with the property. Graham
Graham Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25F Alto type with Yamato 1/60 ver.2 VF-1J Hikaru. Graham
Graham Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 And because somebody asked for it a couple of pages back, here's some shots of the 1/60 Bandai DX VF-25S Ozma type in Battroid mode, together with the Yamato 1/60 YF-21, also in Battroid mode. Graham
