Cent
I hope we get a VF-171EX and VF-27 this year. I hope that they don't make it into a children's toy again. Im looking forward to that VF-171.

jenius
Hey guys, with the exception of the ankles which I know I depressed a bit, does my Ozma look transformed properly? I don't want to have a review full of mistransformed toys (nor do I want to review something I don't fully understand) and I haven't been following this thread as well as I should. What really worried me is that the toy had more neck than I anticipated which makes me wonder if maybe I haven't put something in the right spot. That Ozma you got there is still lookin' like a constipated ewok with its pants hiked up to his chest like an old retiree dude living in Florida anglin' for Flowmax and Viagra commercials. Graham
Yeah, push the 5-hole shoulder blocks closer to the chest. Difficult to see if you have the chest and nosecone correct, as the gunpod is blocking the view. Graham
jenius
Thanks for the input, here's a real quick rough pic that might help you see any mistakes. I appreciate the help. (The shoulders I'm meh on as they kinda move every time I pose the arm). No photo or lighting effects this time: EDIT - when I said more neck than I expected, I was probably a bit far behind the times and still remembering those prototype shots which seemed to have practically no neck. It's pictures like this that make me glad I took the 1/72 model route instead of the DX. I still have hope for the VF-25G and if they bundle Alto's fps with his valk. Alex
Well, I've decided to take back my Ozma and exchange it for a new one. The non-locking hips in Battroid mode are a pain. The friction is going in the joints now so It no longer stays still when posed. The torso just falls back leaving the legs alone standing up straight. Is this a common problem or an isolated case? Don't want to risk getting an other lemon. Rather just get the money back.

Do you mean the mechanism for locking the groin peice in place in battroid mode, i.e. the tab which folds down and plugs into a hole? If yes, I've found that they are fairly unsecure on both my Ozma and Alto and often come unlocked during handling. I would really have liked Bandai to come up with a more secure locking mechanism. Just like on Yamato's YF-19 in battroid mode, you have to learn how and how not to hold the toy correctly when handling (playing with) it. shinjizh
^^^ I should have said Macross 7, my mistake, just want to see Yamato being able to make use of such license, instead of locking it and not making use of it, here's hoping they might as Shin has pointed out with the movie coming on... Shin - Must admit it would be cool if they made Mac 7 stuff, but not re-release their sub par Chunky monkeys. Bandai start to sell Macross 7 1/100 & 1/144 model kit ( same as selling during 94/95) http://www.noda-ya.com/html/syohin/plastickit/02700703.htm Bandai either resell this kind of old stuff or will start Macross 7 product line. Who knows, Bandai alwasy does what we can't expect Edited January 13, 2009 by shinjizh

Renato
Cool, I've been wanting to pick up the 1/100 fire valk again for a while, now, but it suddenly became rare when MacF began airing. Every time I try to pose the toy I have to make sure I hold down the hip joint so the hip joint lock doesn't snap off... It happens far too much IMO and I hate when that happens because Im afraid of the locking tab wearing down after awhile if it keeps up... I don't pose it that much ne way but it is something that needs to be addressed... Perhaps a later version will come out with improvements but not ne time soon I think... jenius
It'd be really easy to address if it ever did develop into a more serious problem. If you wear that tab down just put a thin layer of clear tape over it. You'll increase the diameter of the tab by the thickness of the tape and give it the additional friction to stick in there. It slides in but isn't held by anything. If I don't angle the Battroid's upper torso slightly forward then it will simply fall backwards at the hips. I've really got to stop buying the first release of every Valkyrie that comes out coz i've got enough lemons to put the Girl Scouts out of the lemonade industry. Graham
We don't know know if Bandai will or will not improve their products. They did go back and redo the SoC Voltes V chogokin IIRC. That wasn't so much a redo, as a repaint with a couple of extra gimmicks and extra weapons. Graham
Graham
Pics regarding my above post: No doubt the paint has a difficult time biting the glossy surface. For those who care about having a pristine condition toy, I thought this worth mentioning. I am not one who cares, as I treat this DX toy like a rag doll -- its going to get a good deal more "realism" with me fiddling with it. Wicked Ace, have you been obsessively rubbing your VF-25F or something to get the paint to come of that quickly? Enquiring minds want to know? badboy00z
I hope Bandai makes an accurate 1/60 of the Fire/ Blazer Valkyrie. I say the ankles on the DX would look good if it's extended half way.
jenius
looks like you need to extend the legs more, and congrats on getting the neck to a more acceptable position! Thank you, it seemed transformed right but I needed to confirm. The ankle extensions were slid back into the leg deliberately for that picture so i'm feeling good. Thanks for the input. One more night of fiddling with the thing and then a night or two of editing pictures and writing and I should have a pretty thorough review up. kanedaestes
Finally got mine. Yeah now I am glad I purchased it. It locks together nice and tight and less fragile than my model. Jasonc
I finally got my Alto and Ozuma yesterday and transformed both of them a couple times. To my surprise (as it's been said already), the neck on Ozuma's isn't too bad. It looks like the original photographers had no idea how to pose it right. Mine seems to have a neck. Although still not as prominent as the Alto, it's there. For Alto's I only have a little black missing on a minor side of tampo printing. It's not bad, and you can't really see it. I'm much more happier with the presentation of it than I thought I'd be.
Syngyne
Does anyone know where to order an Alto from? I've been poking all over the web and no one seems to have them in stock anymore.
Jasonc
In regards to the cratched tampo printing, I was thinking...Since these are made by bandai, I have a Gundam marker set with black and red pens in it. What are the odds that these will be a decent color match? The Gundam white pen worked perfectly for the sratches I had on my MPC Beta, so perhaps these will match, especially since the VF-25 is a Bandai product as well. The Gundam white pen worked perfectly for the sratches I had on my MPC Beta, so perhaps these will match, especially since the VF-25 is a Bandai product as well. Don't think the Gundam Markers are great match, unless you are not picky. Bandai used flat black on the prints, but Gundam Marker black always has that very shiny 'purple' sheen (similar to Sharpie). So any black marker touch up would stand out a lot under some light at an angle, due to its glossiness. Not to mention the Gundam Markers don't sit well on smooth shiny plastic surface. They rub and smear, but still stain the plastic a bit. So a warning for you before you decide giving it a try. I got my Alto too. Haven't transform it yet, but its very beautiful in fighter mode. Though I've found that my pilot+seat assembled crooked... Do you guys happen to know if its being glued on or held by screws or peg? Doesn't seem want to move one bit with some push. But don't want to break anything on this brand new toy, so I might have to leave it the way it is. Guess Alto likes to lean on his left when riding the VF-25F, kind of like some people when driving...LOL. My road of Lemons never ends.
