Save
Vipers's Creed announced in Japan but no real details giving about what it actually is. This may be the announcement I've been waiting for.
yellowlightman
I'd rather see him just designing rather than directing, but here's to hoping it turns out interesting.
boota
I'd rather see him just designing rather than directing, but here's to hoping it turns out interesting. Yeah, the same can be said of Kawamori, only Aramaki has yet to show his hand.
Save
I'd rather see him just designing rather than directing, but here's to hoping it turns out interesting. Well if this turns out to be what I think it is, he will be doing some designing or re-designing I should say.
yellowlightman
Yeah, the same can be said of Kawamori, only Aramaki has yet to show his hand. Well, he directed the two Appleseed movies and Megazone 23 Part III... not the best track record.
electric indigo
The second Appleseed movie might not have had the best story, but the direction was pretty good.
Ginrai
Well, he directed the two Appleseed movies and Megazone 23 Part III... not the best track record. Uhm, he CO-directed Megazone 23 III with the guy who directed Macross II.
drifand
Wasn't it John Woo who helmed Appleseed 2? Could've sworn the pigeons said so.
Ginrai
Wasn't it John Woo who helmed Appleseed 2? Could've sworn the pigeons said so. John Woo just produced Appleseed Saga Ex Machina. Aramaki directed it.
Roger
The show is going to feature transforming motorcycles, designed by Aramaki. Hopefully some of the designs will show up online soon.
electric indigo
John Woo just produced Appleseed Saga Ex Machina. Aramaki directed it. At a wild guess I'd say Woo also had a word in the choreography of the action sequences.
Roger
Woo actually wasn't directly involved at all, creatively speaking. All of the Woo-ish stuff (like the ubiquitous doves) were done as homages to his work by the Japanese animators. drifand
Woo actually wasn't directly involved at all, creatively speaking. All of the Woo-ish stuff (like the ubiquitous doves) were done as homages to his work by the Japanese animators. Well, in that case, Aramaki benefited from a much more serviceable script than the first outing. Hopefully, this new show has some muscle backing it for cool toys and such. electric indigo
I hope he has the same technological ressources for the animation as in Appleseed II. The production was quite a feast for the eyes.
Roger
It's going to be a TV series, so I wouldn't expect the same level that Appleseed delivered.
Ginrai
Co-directing doesn't count as directing? I didn't say that. But my point is, that's not a good measure of Aramaki's directing skill since someone else worked on it. It's like how DYRL was co-directed between Kawamori and Ishiguro and how Macross Plus was co-directed between Kawamori and Watanabe of Cowboy Bebop fame. You have to look at solo efforts if you want to be able to judge a director's work on its own merit. Both Appleseed movies are WAY better than the Megazone 23 III.
