I have yet to try these anime canned bread things. Very curious as to how they taste.

Canned bread?????????

Graham

Probably bite sized toasted bread like the one I'm munching now.
It's actually a small loaf stuffed into a can and sold in vending machines.

I wonder if their patterned after old military C rations?

I actually prefer food on my Sheryl.

[EDIT]

Found more info on canned bread from out old friend wikipedia!

Nah. It's so that socially inept people don't have to deal with anyone and get a collectable in the process of buying food.

Is this another space saving thing, like the cube-shaped watermelons? I mean, bread loaves are already rather square, so where is the savings? :)

You can get canned bread stateside now. Or at least Boston brown bread is sold that way. It's not the sort you'd make a sandwich of like that old C-ration stuff I've heard of: it's a sweeter, darker bread usually with raisins. Been a while, but I'd say it's like a muffin or something. I don't know about the Macross bread specifically, but Japanese canned bread in general seems to come in flavors like chocolate chip or fruit and nuts, so I imagine this is something similar in style. At least unlike brown bread it seems it's not baked in and to the shape of the can.

Nah, it's supposedly because you can keep it in the pantry longer than non-canned bread. And the money they make (at least for the original Pan Desuyo) goes to a bunch of disabled people.

Say what you want about it but you know you'd buy the thing the first chance you get.

I certainly would for the novelty value. Just like I did for the cream puffs, even going as far as to hunt the damn things down since not all the Family Mart stores carry them.

True dat. I bought a number of bags of Evangelion Doritos for no reason other than the fact that they had the NERV logo on them.

It seems they sold out on the day of release, according to the article.

Plenty of "hungry" people out there. I wonder if I can found one on local convenient store.

Macross canned panties worn by Ai Nakajima, Megumi Makagima (Ranka), May'N (Sheryl) and a chase canned panty by Maaya Sakamoto would be a more brilliant idea. I'm carnivorous so canned bread is... meh. ^_^

Sannae's bread + Akiko's jam

There's something went awfully wrong there, but I can not figured it out...
