ruskiiVFaussie Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 (edited) Stumbled upon this by random browsing, sweet! http://www.monkeyjourneytothewest.com/the-.../dates-tickets/ I'm one to really enjoy opera in any form actually, i've see Macbeth (Макбет in russian as i saw it in St Petersberg) and it was filth. Loved it. This however would be spectacular! Wonder when it's gonna come to aussie (if it ever does!) http://www.gorillaz.com/flash.html MUNKEH!!! Edited October 29, 2008 by ruskiiVFaussie Quote

Personally doubt that it would work on stage though. Taksraven Quote

Taksraven I dunno, I've seen a few different plays based on the novel "The Journey to the west" and they've all been very good. Chinese Opera is good, but the last time I went to one it was fail, the super titles made no sense and it was just "excerpts" from different plays and the selection sucked. Quote

Gubaba Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 One of the greatest live-action series ever. Personally doubt that it would work on stage though. Taksraven Well...considering that it has been constantly staged for the last three to four hundred years, you'd think that they would've worked out the kinks by now. I've been reading the book for the last few months, and I'm nearing the end. When it's good, it's awesome, but it really is the same damn thing over and over again...i.e. demons capture Sanzang and want to eat him, Monkey fights the demons but can't defeat them, Monkey asks the Bodhisattva for help, Guanyin comes down and saves everybody's asses, repeat 81 times... Taksraven I made this one myself and and it first I believe! lol Anyway this is relevant, to prove that it can be done well (and with a sense of humour) Sakura Taisen's Shin Saiyuki (New Journey to the West) Edited October 30, 2008 by lord_breetai Quote
