Impreszive Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Anyone want some Macross Bread? I....I...... My head is exploding! GRAAAAAaaaaaaaaa ::pop::
sketchley Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 (edited) And you guys are acting like random things put in cans is a bad thing because of...? Common! This is Japan. Vending machine capital of the Earth! I've seen or heard of vegetables, rice, whisky shots, neckties, sex toys, business cards, pornography, 10 pack of eggs , coffee, etc. in vending machines. Yes, bread in a can is one of the odder ones, but nothing tops worn panties. Edited October 30, 2008 by sketchley
azrael Posted October 30, 2008 Author Posted October 30, 2008 Yes, bread in a can is one of the odder ones, but nothing tops worn panties. If they have Sheryl's panties in a can, then I would be considerably worried.
Zinjo Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 (edited) Remind me when the last time a new Macross series was released in North America, and there's your answer. True. The last chapter in the saga was HG trademarking the name "Macross" in 2003 a couple months after the Japanese court decision giving the franchise IP rights to Bigwest and Studio Nue... You don't negotiate with a potential partner while you attempt to supplant their legal property rights internationally... Edited October 30, 2008 by Zinjo
biggooftoybox Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I still can't make out what the sign says... The picture of the 3 pilots in their tuxs look awesome. Looks like they are attending someone's wedding. But whose? Must be some time during the series as Michael is shown still alive unless he isn't really dead. BUt i doubt it. As much as I want Michael to be alive..... Maybe this will appear in the movie version, just a side note story.
biggooftoybox Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Anyone want some Macross Bread? Oh yeah! I'll definitely like those buns. Heehee =)
biggooftoybox Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Yes, bread in a can is one of the odder ones, but nothing tops worn panties. I've been to Japan a few times but I've never found that machine. I need to take a picture of it so people will believe me when i tell them it exists.

Those have been reduced greatly over the years and even if you find them they will be in seedier parts of town where gaijin are not welcomed and yakuza lurk. Apart from soiled panties you can even buy mochi (rice cake thingy) that was bitten/in the mouth of a school girl. You get the mochi AND her picture. *cough* anyway back to Macross.

I have a friend who's been living there for 8 years now and he certainly never seen one of those vending machine. Part of the reason I believe is because there was a law passed against it some time ago. It was beginning to become a problem so the govt stepped in, that's what I heard anyway.

Why change minor drawing problems but let these major ones slip? I wouldn't call the art problems "minor", unless you are insinuating that 10 year olds were responsible for it (which is completely possible given the level of quality).
Impreszive Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Huh. Animation corrections? More reason for me to shell out for the Blu Rays, I guess.

Why change minor drawing problems but let these major ones slip? I'm thinking that they have different models for transformation and for action (different movement skeletons). The one for action can probably get bits of it "shot off" while the one for transforming can't.

Lindem Herz Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 (edited) I'm thinking that they have different models for transformation and for action (different movement skeletons). The one for action can probably get bits of it "shot off" while the one for transforming can't. If they were using 3dsMax for animation (and every production shot I've seen has had the Max interface), it would be as easy as cloning the shot section from the action model; importing, aligning and linking (basically, chaining it) to the wing of the transforming model (basically making it follow the skeleton rig without having to link the part to the skeleton - that is, assuming that they don't morph the part during the transformation, otherwise the whole effect would be ruined) and then flagging the intact wing properties so the renderer will ignore it... and probably someone forgot to do that last thing, because it is a really small action that is totally out of the way at the end of the entire workflow. So, chances are that we got an intact wing rendering over a damaged wing because someone forgot to untick a box. Edit: Woohoo! 300 posts! And it only took me five years! runab0ut Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2008/11/03/m...-just-a-remake/ The excitement surrounding the announcement of a Macross F film may have been misplaced, as an interview with esteemed director and Macross creator 河森正治 / Shouji Kawamori, included in Macross F 2059:Memories, has him making statements which basically scotch the notion of there being much original content or story development from the anime. He has this to say: As it won’t be by any means a completely new work, it won’t change things as with the previous series and its movie, but it will follow the original story, and make various improvements. Various subtle changes will also be made to the setting and story… He then goes on to say that the time limitations imposed by the movie format also mean character development will have to be adjusted (or rather, left out) for some characters. However, he does leave the assurance that there will be “lots” of elements placed into the movie that didn’t make it into the anime, although we might wonder about this given his preceding comments. Still, a final verdict will likely have to wait until the film is released, though such statements certainly leave little for fans hoping for a continuation or expansion to become excited over. http://ralf-halfmoon.jugem.jp/?eid=273
sketchley Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Re: the additional elements I'm guessing that it'll be 3D CG mecha combat. For the simple reason that the majority of the character art is hand drawn and likely to take a lot longer to animate.
Zinjo Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 (edited) Possibly more CG and/or additional details that enhance the story like additional non animated audio communications between Grace and her cohorts and the like. Maybe even a few additional types of bolt on weapons packs (gotta give Bandai more variants to sell to the market. Afterall, they are used to the Gundam franchise... ) Seems like it may be a movie version ala Macross Plus. A concentrated story with more raw mecha action. Edited November 3, 2008 by Zinjo
Graham Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Still wondering if it will get a theatrical release or will go straight to DVD? Guess we can only wait to find out. I can't believe that with the popularity of the show and the success of the CDs, DVDs/BluRay Disks, moodel kits etc that a second series is not in the works. Graham

Graham Mac 7 was very popular too and there were only 2 post series movies (if you can call a 1/2 hours movette a movie ) before the franchise went back into hibernation...
Impreszive Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 ^boo for the news Sounds typical to me. Apparently very few directors see the necessity of doing original material for the movies for their shows Sigh. Oh well. Business as usual. At least we got a good show.

Graham If Gurren Lagaan can have a theatrical release Macross definately wil due to it's success. Why just make money from the DVD/BDs when you can also make it in the box office? As for the added mecha action, I could see that. There were a few sequences that I thought could do with some added shine, like Luca's Ghosts engagement for instance.
Mr March Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Disappointing news, but not at all unexpected. I figured it would be largely reusing material with some new stuff thrown in. What is the typical percentage these days? 25%? Still, the series was good, so it's likely the movie will appeal to me as well. Who knows, maybe the movie might even be better simply from a narrative point of view. Just have to watch and see.
badboy00z Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Does the Macross F 2059:Memories have full specs and new line art for the valks?
Final Vegeta Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Sounds typical to me. Apparently very few directors see the necessity of doing original material for the movies for their shows Sigh. Oh well. Business as usual. At least we got a good show. Kawamori creates movies for things he couldn't put in the series. It's not about business, it's about leaving no regret. Anyway, I believe that with some needed tighter scriptwriting the movie could be a new all time classic. And people here are overemphasizing reusage of footage; while I don't think the design will be reinvented like in DYRL, Kawamori is always pushing what he can do with CG. FV
azrael Posted November 3, 2008 Author Posted November 3, 2008 Does the Macross F 2059:Memories have full specs and new line art for the valks? Nope. It's more of an episode guide to the TV series. It has some character descriptions, some mecha descriptions, but that's about it. It really focuses on being an episode guide.
Valkyrie addict Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 hmmm...not very excited by a retelling AGAIN
