so the scene where they hug is the limit or as far as you would like us to go in terms of sensuality displayed in artwork?

Forgive me, but I'm losing patience with this debate. Seems like a few people trying to push the envelope as far as they can...but why bother? Does the desire to post fanart tits run so deep that it's impossible to ignore?

Every sexy pic here is a repost from Danbooru anyway...just cut out the middleman and hang out there, if you ABSOLUTELY MUST know what some guy somewhere thinks Sheryl's bush looks like. ;)

BeyondTheGrave--I can't tell if you're being serious or not. I think it should be obvious what scene I'm referring to. And "that one scene" in DYRL, too.

Once again guys use common sense. This isn't a game to see how far you can go without getting banned or to get topic closed for months. Why try to ruin a good thing? Yes there is some exposed T&A in Macross. You can find fan art with the same amount of exposure that can go over the edge.

well its more so i wish to know what exactly is ok and not ok.

since everyone is different of what they find acceptable and not acceptable.

I know hentai is off limits. i dont have a desire to look at it anyway.

and no not really most thoughts of Frontier have been purged due to the fact usually after i finish a series I start another one(currently watching Hokuto no Ken).

But you know what I'll figure it out eventually.

Back on topic:

As much as i don't really like M7 here's some art.

Simple rule: If you have to ask, "Is this acceptable?" then don't post it.

Pretty clear, I would think.

When watching all the series, especially Frontier, there was more "risque" intent with pre-teen Klan in the series than that image I posted of her in her dressing room. I put it up cause I thought it was A) Well drawn. B) Funny when you notice the little character's expression on the bed. There was no need to underline an assumption considering Klan as a pre-teen had more "risque" intent about her in the actual series. :p

Secondly the Sheryl topless image had a warning, and it was a link. The mod said it was still no no after I posted the link, but his first answer was very vague? (One minute yes if innocent, then no, and then justifies "Alpo"?) And his decision was respected, and didn't post anymore images like that.

But the need for another mod to come and share techniques in downloading porn for so little, if not zero drama at all, was totally WTF?

Finally, the title of this thread is "Appreciation" Art. I teach concept design for 3D animation, and with nude models running around in the class for the endless hours of anatomy drawing, a body drawn in a non vulgar position is seen in my field as "Appreciation" Art. I thought this thread's purpose was to share and discuss various images of Macross that can be appreciated as art? And what's wrong if some jokes are snugged about the character's features? :) And sorry, I'm sure most here have never heard of this Danburo site whatever it is. :p

If a topless drawing is offensive around here and can't be seen for the art that it is, then fine. Say NO FORM OF FORBIDDEN NUDY BITS. :p Don't say it depends on how it can be seen. And please, don't label people cause of a topless image, as this forum is based on a saga that had more risque intention than a topless image. :p

And PS, the comment about "Alpo" and the carrot is golden beauty as a signature. :) That's it.

Peace

Ok - I can understand this point and the desire for clarity.

But I think we as members need to keep something in mind here:

What if YOU were a mod? What if you had to firmly and definitively ANSWER these questions rather than just ask them?

What if YOU said "yes" to somebody but then another mod said "maybe not?"

What I'm getting at is this:

It's not like the mods are all knowing beings with access to secret knowledge that the rest of us lack.

They are trying to do something imprecise here - namely allow for a fanart thread where we can post pics that, actually, are all adult in nature and theme to some extent.

The reason why they have to be careful has nothing to do with their personal preferences, but rather with keeping Macrossworld safe from people who might judge even the mildest picture of Klan or Ranka as being something it's not - and something which could get MW in trouble.

It is in our interest as members who love Macrossworld to also think in these categories when posting fan art.

This is not a precise science. This is not math. There are no equations here.

Sometimes - you will get an "ok" from a mod and then get a "actually no."

Sometimes there will be confusion.

DO NOT take it personally and DO NOT get into fights or force a debate about the "details" of the rules regarding fanart because that only annoys people who are actually trying to help us all by providing this forum and maintaining it.

That's how I see it.

Just use you own judgement. Be civil and respectful if someone disagrees with it. I think judging by the last FORTY SIX pages of this thread - the mods are attempting to give as much room for expression - even erotic expression - as is physically possible on this board.

I agree fully with your point of view. But in no ways did anyone take it personal or forced a fight IMO. Hence the smileys and etc and joking on. Check previous replies. :p

But still WTF with the instructions in downloading Hentai by a mod? LOL. Just clarify and don't coil the answer within a joke. The biggest problem with the internet, is when reading we're missing the actual facial expressions that determine the intent of what is said.

Either way for me it was confusion, and will be avoiding to post any images with Forbidden Nudy bits. :) Oh well, there goes that image of Sheryl naked in the VF-25's cockpit ... :(:p

That would be a cruel injustice, since I was planning on starting work on an MS Paint Sheryl just as soon as the masses had oogled a bit over my Ranka-chan...

alright, lets lock this thread and have a member fan art thread.

Howabout no! The first thread was so epic that it got into the "Hall of the Super Topics" and dammit we're gonna continue this one until it joins it's predecessor where it belongs!

What is worse? Two pages of pointless discussion or my fanart? You the fans decide. I present - Sheryl!

Well technicaly I forgot Ranka's carrot too :) And notice how Sheryl is alone with her music, while Ranka has Alto's VF-25 flying just above looking out for her. It's all symbolism. Sheryl without her captain's hat and alone is a parable for unrequited love, a love that goes unanswered. The lack of a captain's hat means she's not in charge, despite her black boots and S&M outfit - she would like to be - but she's not got her captain's hat, and therefore - she is not really in control, and thus is alone and without her "slave" Alto. Meanwhile, Ranka, even without her carrot, is all smiley and happy because she has Alto protecting her. Alto does it because he loves her.

See - my art has deep metaphorical symbolism, not like this shoddy stuff you've been accustomed to looking at for the last few pages.

Edit: Here's my Macross Frontier: Picasso. It is based on Picasso's Guernica, albeit using Macross Frontier characters. Condolenses to Gubaba if he actually manages to spot Nanase :)

I had to look twice, almost looks like a screen grab from one of the more poorly animated episodes...

Yes - she is regurgitating Ai-kun. It symbolizes her attempt to cure herself of the V-virus.

A traditional Marvel Comics No-Prize goes to someone who can correctly identify the Macross Frontier characters/situations and what is happening in the picture :)

I can get most of them but I'd rather gouge my own eyes out with a letter opener.

Some of the best art yet.

I found nanase. it's like looking at one of the 3d puzzles where you have to let your eyes go out of focus. and slowly pull the image away from your face

Cool. That's some pretty nice praise for something that took me about 30 seconds to draw... But I guess it must be because of all the time I spent looking at the original Picasso that this thing just kind of came easily to me :)

Personally, I am most proud of the Hippo Cow. Picasso had a spanish bull where I have place the hippo cow.

But the real test is this:

Fine Grace :)

I'm going to guess and say she's either the arm holding the earring, the squiggly head at the bottom by Sheryl or the blue hair piece in the middle of the picture.

The squiggly head to the left/bottom of Sheryl is Ranka - meant to be Ranka-chan's dreams of stardom and love being squashed by the Galactic Fairy...

I'll readily admit that who's holding the earing is open to interpretation - I'm not sure of it myself...

As for Grace - I meant her to be that blob of purple hair just under Ai-kun/mixed in with the Ai-kun/V-Virus vomit :)

You see, I was thinking that, but then I thought "No way. That's gotta be something else."

I'm a literalist. I can't understand symbolism.

It can be hard to interpret symbolism when it's in the form of bloody, putrid bile.

Seconded. Also, can't it be linked to with a NSFW warning?

Who's going to go here during work?? I don't think showing your favorite shows include a guy who forces bad music down everyone's eardrums and this other guy everyone wants in a dress is good for your professional life.

how about not, maybe we should just lock this tread.

Says the guy with Sheryl's butt in his avatar.

Been trying to think of the right words to put this too. Another revenge pic.

Cookie supplies - $8

Experimental folding booster - $20,000,000

Zentraedi macronization chamber - $10,000,000

Finally getting that bitch out of your way that keeps on blocking you from what you want - Priceless
