kanedaestes Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 I too just picked him and Sentinel Prime up. Now to search for a Swoop and an Ultra Magnus.
mikeszekely Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 (edited) Saw 25th Prime today. 'Tis pink. Also, the trailer stripes are matte metallic, not shiny foil metallic. Okay, I saw one now too. It's not really pink, but kind of a dull red. Like they took the G1 toy and kinda washed him out. Are they trying to make him look 25 years faded, maybe? Well, it'd be nice to have a perfectly G1-accurate toy, but raise your hands if any of you actually thought that'd happen. At minimum, we knew he'd have the short 'stacks (irony of ironies, the picture of him on the back of the box has long 'stacks). In any case, if you have an original G1 Prime or one of the other reissues, did you really want to buy ANOTHER one? Nope, this is for people like me that never owned a G1 Prime (even back in the day, closest I had was Ultra Magnus and Powermaster Prime, never the original), and managed to miss all the reissues*. Frankly, I'll take what I can get (although the DVD, belt buckle, and comic book are definitely icing on a delicious cake). *Unless you count Pepsi Prime. I did manage to get him. Sadly, I have to wait, though. Silly me, figuring I'd beat the holiday shoppers and scalpers and what not and preorder it from Target.com back in August. Of course, they're telling me that it won't arrive until the end of the month, and they'll probably smash the crap out it in shipping. Edited November 3, 2008 by mikeszekely
Vermillion21 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 @mikeszekely - Just cancel the order and wait for it to hit clearance after the holidays ... with the current economic recession, I highly doubt the 25th Anniversary G1 Primes are going to move at $69.99 apiece from Wal-Mart, a discount retailer. Just way too overpriced for the store shopper demographic IMHO.

I'll probably go to Wal-Mart, buy a Prime, then cancel my order.
doodler7 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 yep, saw it last night too at a wal-mart. the truck is light red...as if the red paint they used were a cheap red. but if you look in the back of the packaging, the photos shown has the color scheme of the G1 model...red is red with the blue and the trailer is gray. wth? isn't that false advertising? is hasbro aiming for the soccer moms and busy dads, and hoping that they would just pick it up for their kids without looking? of course our kids can care less. but the kid that matters is me!...and you!
David Hingtgen Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Hasbro also shows long stacks in most of their ads for both reissue G1 and MP...
ruskiiVFaussie Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Did anyone else early bird the MP Grimlock? http://www.hlj.com/product/TKT78300
IXTL Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Hi resolution images of MP Grimlock and Disney Label resin prototypes. http://maruzen-toy.com/TF-008/ http://maruzen-toy.com/TF-259/ These clear pics make Grimlock look a whole lot better than the earlier lo-res pics.
Vermillion21 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 The detailed pics make MP Grimlock look much cooler .... sweet.
mcpaz Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Yep, sweet... also... a little packed on steroids/deltoids, isn't he? (Me, Grimlock, leader!!!) Can't wait!
Chewie Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Now I can see what you guys were saying about his size. I hadn't noticed that was an original Prime.
IXTL Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) First look at the color schemes of Henkei Cyclonus, Hound (w/ Ravage), Cheetas (aka Cheetor) and Ratchet http://www.e-hobby.co.jp/cgi-bin/omc?port=...mp;code=tf_c_21 http://www.e-hobby.co.jp/cgi-bin/omc?port=...mp;code=tf_c_20 http://www.e-hobby.co.jp/cgi-bin/omc?port=...mp;code=tf_c_20 http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B001B1T1FW/ Hound looks especially nice in this color scheme. Where's the cheapest (but still reliable/safe) place to buy these from?
VFTF1 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Cyclonus and Hound are must haves. Ratchet and Ironhide - meh. I'll pass on both of them. Don't like the truck modes and the kibble on their backs is not flattering. Cheetor is...not going to get better. Pete
kaiotheforsaken Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) I was hoping the Henkei version of Cyclonus would look better, and from the image, I'm not gonna be disappointed. Edited November 6, 2008 by kaiotheforsaken
ruskiiVFaussie Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Ravage looks cool, even the legs can be panned outward! Always wanted that as a kid. Should have made the mouth to close though, or maybe it does.....

Awesome detail: check Articulation: check (great arm articulation, the legs aren't far behind, I even see the head rotate... if it tilts up and down too I'll be happy camper Drinks : check Pending: As David said, Kawamori's "tweak" to the design
RichterX Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Well if anything after the Kawamori tweak it will be able to transform with the super armor on
kensei Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I think a small foot tweak is needed for robot mode for the feet to be more flat.

I just realized... When compared to G1 Optimus, isn't Grimmy a little short? I mean, he looks much shorter than MP Op and MP Megs... Or not?
IXTL Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 (edited) Mmmmm.... I just realized... When compared to G1 Optimus, isn't Grimmy a little short? I mean, he looks much shorter than MP Op and MP Megs... Or not? Answer below: Also with regards to the size, this month's issue of Dengeki Hobby has already confirmed that Grimlock's bot mode height is about the same as MP Starscream's. So we'd be looking at a figure roughly about 20-22cm. Link to the magazine article: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers...ember-pics.html Translation of the article: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers...tml#post2453949 "Grimlock who has the unique distinction of being a Transformer built by Transformers has been confirmed! At present, he is in the manufacturing stage for mass retail. His powerful form, his unique mold, possible gimmicks: just by studying the design sketches to the right should be enough to excite you if you are a TF fan... The size of the Robot mode is approximately the same as MP-3 Starscream, and he seems to have enough gimmicks to make a 'mania' cry. Next issue, we may even be able to show a prototype..." bigkid24 Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 MP Grimlock is supposed to be in scale with G1 Prime.
kaiotheforsaken Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Well looks like Universe is getting Wheelie of all characters. Maybe Springer isn't too much to hope for after all. http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/new...pictures/14407/
dizman Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Both cosmos and warpath look awesome! Didn't they already announce a universe springer that only turned into a helicopter?
VFTF1 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Meh. Universe Cosmos just looks unattractive. Those arms are not funny. I prefer the aesthetic of good olf G1 Cosmos. Universe Hotrod looks terrible. Warpath and Wheelie are ok - but the G1 are better anyways. Overall, Henkei Cyclonus and Hound are the only two - along with ....shocker - Henkei Armada Hotshot - that I am looking forward to. Pete
Excillon Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Both cosmos and warpath look awesome! Didn't they already announce a universe springer that only turned into a helicopter? Yes, it's just a repaint of Cybertron Evac.
mikeszekely Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Meh. Universe Cosmos just looks unattractive. Those arms are not funny. I prefer the aesthetic of good olf G1 Cosmos. Universe Hotrod looks terrible. Warpath and Wheelie are ok - but the G1 are better anyways. Well, they're just Legends class. I'm skipping Hot Rod because I already have Deluxe Classics anyway. I could have dug a Deluxe or Voyager Warpath, but Legends is about my limit for Wheelie and Cosmos (and Brawn and Beachcomber, for that matter).
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 To those of you who own both Animated Prowl and Oil Slick, who is more poseable? I've been hesitant to pick up Prowl because he grew on my in the show, very, very, very slowly, I detested him at first and most of my buying decisions are primarily character motivated. What changed the way I viewed him was his sympathy towards the Dinobots, and later on he proved to be less of a dick, and more helpful. So I found Prowl recently(seems hard to find around here, I think because he is a ninja, his poseability is great, and he is one of the more popular autobots in the show). Anyways I was very impressed not only by his transformation(never seen anything like that done!), but his concealable weaponry, and the articulation is very impressive, especially for the legs. I already have Jazz, and was very impressed when I bought him over summer. So that leaves me without the last circuit su ninja, Oil Slick. Oil Slick seems to have a great range of motion, just looking at his joints, and in the back story it said that he trained with Prowl. So I am thinking about buying him, plus my Zartan figure needs a ride. So to those who have both Prowl and Oil Slick, how do they compare, which do you think is better, and who is more fun to pose?
Alpha OTS Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Warpath and Wheelie are ok - but the G1 are better anyways. Warpath, maybe, but Wheelie? Did you forget what the G1 figure looked like? The Legends figure is 10000000000x's better, and I might be missing some zeros there.
UN_MARINE Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 quick question... i just got the battle begins animated Optimus. i'm tweaking a couple of things & they involve repainting the thing. 1st thing on the to-go list is the "battle damage" does anybody know which red & silver they use on this thing? thanks
Hoptimus Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Cant wait to see more final MPC Grimlock pics. Looks awesome.
David Hingtgen Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Just saw pics of Henkei Dirge and Thrust. If anyone wants to split a pack, I'm interested in Dirge. (though with how much they cost, even splitting a pack is pretty expensive)
Tober Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Just saw pics of Henkei Dirge and Thrust. If anyone wants to split a pack, I'm interested in Dirge. (though with how much they cost, even splitting a pack is pretty expensive) They're sold separately for about $50 each from various exporters like Overdrive and FantoFan.jp. Each one is a different Japanese store exclusive.
