RichterX Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 So back to the topic, was that hour special release in any of the compilations lately? i don't think i have ever seen it being still in my mother's womb during the original showing and in the other side of the world and all that.... Quote

It was released with the newest Japanese DVD box set of SDFM (and, as such, is around as an MKV). It was also the version used on the first tape of the old Robotech Perfect Collection. But that was on VHS...so it may have been before your time. Quote
Cobalto Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Quiet, you. That's supposed to be a secret. What was seen, can't be unseen! LOL Quote
RichterX Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 You guys make me feel old. If anything Macross Frontier had the same effect on some us: http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/10/1/ Quote
MisaForever Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I was 2 months from being 7 years old. Quote
aerocombatpilot Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I was 13 years old and had never heard of Macross. That fateful day would not come until the week before Robotech first aired on TV. Quote
mastercane01 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I was six when Macross came out. Still loving it. Quote
OmegaD3k Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 (edited) Wow, I feel really young all the sudden. I wasn't even born yet, back then... Really wish I could have experienced Macross (or dare I say it? "Robotech") on TV when it first came out. My earliest recollection of Macross was back in 89 on VHS. whispo Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I defenitely wasn't around back then . But I'm glad that I got hooked up anyway Quote
Macross007 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 You guys make me feel old. I was not even born. Sorry Gubaba if I am making you older. Quote
Windrider Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) I was 6 years and 3 months that time. I was first exposed to Macross around 1985-86 when it was localized here in the Philippines. It had crappy dubbing though and the opening song was changed. But it didn't matter to me back then. When RT first aired 2 years later it confused me to hell and I thought it was the same show. I'm happy though that I was already around when Macross was born. Edited October 4, 2008 by Windrider Quote

polidread Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 o it was a blessing they dubbed all anime and tokusatsu in english back then. im sure it made me a better englsih speaker early on !!!!! ( insert rage rant about today's trashy tagalog dubs here ) yes, i was able to watch macross when it was MACROSS and not as robotech. i was also six years old then, i think. Quote
m0n5t3r Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 yeah, crappy english dub > ultra crappy tagalog dub... i cringe whenever i see anime dubbed in tagalog on local channels! was 6.5... Quote
Windrider Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) I guess we were very fortunate to watch the original Macross first despite the bad dubbing in the mid 80's and not Robotech. In those days I didn't know what anime was and I considered it like the other robot shows back then (Voltes V, Daimos, and Mazinger Z). I suppose anime became mainstream earlier in the Philippines than than in the West. Tagalog dubs weren't all that bad. It was a hit or miss (miss mostly). ABS-CBN had the worst anime dubs though especially when they did NGA. >_< Edited October 4, 2008 by Windrider Quote
505thAirborne Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 I was pushing 7 years old when Macross released!!! And it just gets better & better over time!!! Quote
miriya Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) God. I was getting ready to turn 6. same here. So is the extra stuff not on the animego SDFM box set? I like this opening.... Edited October 4, 2008 by miriya Quote
